Guest DeepBlueEditor Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 Uhh, Google Maps works just fine on all of my ROMs. I install it all of the time. I suggest that you try another cab file. I can say that Google Maps does indeed work on my basically stock 1.4 ROM install.
Guest DeepBlueEditor Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 As far as I know you do not need to wait 20 seconds. You should only have to wait for the popup if you moved or enabled a panel. Then hit exit. It will do the rest on its own. I'm betting I was hitting "ok" rather than "exit" and it's working now. Many thanks.
Guest mcmilliron Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 (edited) Hey guys, I'm a newbie with 6.5 roms and I just have a few things I want to tweak. If any of you can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm running BW's Neo 6.5 ROM, and I'm really loving it, but I don't like the 4 row honeycomb start menu. I'm looking for a 3 row honeycomb start menu cab. I have the non-honeycomb 3 row cab, and it works great, but I prefer the look of the honeycomb. I tried one that I found at xda, but it didn't work. Do any of you know where I can find one that works with the i910? Also, is there a way to make the bar on the titanium today screen static so only the background moves? thanks for your help! Guest ¬_¬ Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 One small thing that i can't seem to figure out. I'm still kind of used to default Windows mobile.. How do i minimize programs and switch back and forth between them?

How do i minimize programs and switch back and forth between them? Use HTC Task Manager. If you are using the 1.4 ROMs then you can use a long press of the close button and this should minimize programs. Then use the task manager to switch to what ever program you want. If you are using the beta ROM then you can still use HTC Task Manager. From the today screen, only the today screen, press the clock in the task bar. This will bring up the HTC Task Manager window. You can now switch to any open program.
Guest mcmilliron Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 I'll look at making one but it won't be for a couple of days. Thanks BW! I will buy you a beer, or soda if your prefer, in a few days. Your support is second to none. Incredible. take care.
Guest ugzz Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 (edited) well it looks like im alone on the google maps. maybe ill try using the automated cab installer instead of doing it manually post flash.. (i tried the latest cab from google and i had the last rev of that cab saved on my memory card from months back) I get it to install in MS3, but if i try and launch it locks up the phone. I switched to NIGHT, and it hangs at about 90% of the install and just sits there until i have to use the task manager to close the installer. I tried on each at least 5 times before i got fed up with it either fully locking up the phone or having to force everything closed. as a funny site note, i switched to the Samsung cf03 that just came out and i get the occasional random lock while trying to install something and the phone just says "were sorry" at the top of the screen. Its only been about 15 hours, but so far i think the samsung official has caused me to have issues MORE than your cooked rom lol. So basically im just saying, good job bro. so far after trying six roms your NIGHT rom is my fav, ill probobly flash back today or tomorrow. Edited August 21, 2009 by ugzz

I always install Google maps to device memory so I don't know if installing anywhere else is a problem or not, but thought I would throw that out there. Also, if you have installed to My Storage or your storage card in the past, be sure to delete the program folder before reinstalling. I had an issue with this once and deleting the program folder before installing fixed it. Edited August 21, 2009 by Catrinisin
Guest videc1 Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 you have to highlight the message you want to copy from, you will know its highlighted becasue the white background will turn slightly sky blue, then press and hold somewhere within the message until a popup appears. you can then choose "make selection" Thank you, it worked :D . I figured it was something i was doing!
Guest ugzz Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 (edited) ^^ snaps. i didnt even think of that. with my old phone i had it on the my memory (internal 8gb). i got a new phone that was blank. so its not a directory issue. (well hell, maybe it is, cause i had a failed install!, have to check). also i always install every app on the 8gb internal storage. i don't think ive ever installed anything into the main memory.. (except a program or two that said it has problems if you don't) ^ Yeah, i just figured that out a few days ago myself. its all in the timing Edited August 21, 2009 by ugzz
Guest duba Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 Unfortunately there is a bug and that does not work either. Weird, I have the most recent flash with SPB KB and works fine...including the Menu ->Options. I was having some issues with SPB3 w/ultimate cab, so I installed Titanium then SPB and then ultimate and lastly the SPB KB.
Guest CJHacker Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 Great ROM BW! So far I love 1.4, but I've noticed that for some reason my PockeTwit and SMS-Chat will randomly close itself. Could this be something with a task manager closing down unused apps or something? I haven't installed any task managers besides what cooked into the ROM. Any ideas or anyone else run into this?

I install 3.2 to My Storage every flash (well, almost every flash :D ). Please try another cab and see what happens.

Guest CSX321 Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 Easy? Find a cab that has it like that is the only easy way. Otherwise you will have to edit the cpr files for the start menu to get this. I forgot where I got it, but I've been using this in StartMenu_GridScene_240x400.cpr. I just drop it into \Windows after I flash, and it works great. <Form Width="240" Height="400"> <StartMenu_GridScene ID="Scene"> <GridView ID="Start Menu Items List" Top="0" Left="0" Width="240" Height="348" Columns="3" Scrollable="TRUE" HexagonGrid="TRUE" HorizontalWrapAround="TRUE"> <Image ID="Selection" Left="0" Top="0" Width="96" Height="83" Source=".\StartMenu_Selection.png" /> <Layer ID="GridItem" Width="96" Height="83" OnAction ="GridItemAction"> <Layer ID="Normal"> <Image ID="Image" Left="26" Top="4" Width="44" Height="44" ScaleStyle="Fit" /> <Text ID="Text" Left="13" Top="51" Width="75" Height="42" FontFamily="Tahoma" FontSize="9" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Top" Wrap="True" Trimming="EllipsisCharacter" ForeColor="#00FFFFFF" BackColor="#00000000" /> </Layer> </Layer> <Layer ID="NoItems"> <Text ID="Text" Width="240" Height="20" FontFamily="Tahoma" FontSize="9" ForeColor="#00FFFFFF" Wrap="False" HorizontalAlignment="Center" Trimming="Character" InnerTextType="Resource">shellres.dll,22596</Text> </Layer> </GridView> </StartMenu_GridScene> </Form>
Guest ugzz Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 thanks for the help. i flashed back to night after yet another crash with the samsung cf03 (i swear it hates opera, but it comes with it for petes sake!). and ill see what i can figure out

I'm running CF03 and build 23016 if that helps. It doesn't seem to happen all the time either, so I can see how it's hard to pinpoint.

[i do have the HTC Task Manager set to minimize by default and close by tap and hold.] I had the problem with the MS3 version (1.4) on a few apps and it seems to be a common occurrence for some (unknown) scenario with MS3. The folks and users at SPB can't seem to nail it down. I have since dropped back to the 1.2 version (also MS3) and haven't seen the problem, but don't know if it is a setting buried somewhere or what.

Nope, no MS3 here, just the straight up Neo Titanium running at the moment. And yes, I keep having to restart them because I can't believe that nobody has sent any Twitter updates in a while. So I'll load it up again, and it will work for a while, then same story, out of the blue something had closed PockeTwit. Now today at work here, my SMS-Chat has stayed running fine all day. I think it knows that I'm talking about it. haha
Guest rndchef Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 I posted earlier that I was having some problems with battery issues and random freezing up and wondered if it was the Lock feature. I went back to using S2U2, stopped using the Lock and everything has cleared up. I think the problem was the Lock functon. My battery is fine now, no lock ups and its seems like better control of the phone's sleep/power settings which seemed unpredictable before. I have had an on and off affair with S2U2 but so far were back together again. It supports a Weatherpanel icon on it too which seems to be working well on my Today Screen. Updating daily without an issue. :D I am sure this will all change tomorrow, right?
