Omnia i910 Update - no luck with GPS

For months I was tempted to install one of these ROMs circulating that would allow the use of the internal GPS. I resisted since this phone is mission critical to my job. I wanted internal GPS but I could not afford to lose any other functionality.

The upgrade instructions for the Samsung Rom indicate that you need to be running WM 6.1 in order for the upgrade to work.

I am not sure this is true, but if you experience problems you might consider installing a 6.1 ROM, if possible.

I would try the Samsung ROM. The device is much faster and responsive. The step after the ROM update was a calibration of the touch screen. That sure made an improvement and the keyboard easier to use. The July-release SAMSUNG ROM is rock solid, clean, fast and accurate.

Here is a question for all knowing. I just installed the unlocked ROM from theidocto. Should I install this new version from Samsung? Im not sure if the GPS is working now or not I had some other issues I worked on and was planning on trying out the GPS today. I do like most of the new features from the ROM install. Should I install Upgrade CFo3 ?

Wow... I REALLY need some help.

I have the update. I HAVE turned on Location in the GPS settings. I can't get locks INITIALLY with google maps. BUT if I turn on VZNavigator and then exit.... THEN turn on google maps it locks. It's like I have to use VZNavigator to 'initialize' the gps.

Also I can NEVER get a lock - or anything for that matter - with Bing. It just says I have no GPS.

Please help, I know you guys can help me solve this. I really wanna drop the extra $10/mo for VZNav

I have this exact problem as well and I have the DC22 update. I can't get the GPS to come on unless I turn on VZ Nav first, then everything is fine. Is there a registry setting to check and change?
