Ha Ha! Awesome! once i used Comm Manager it worked like a charm!

Thanks alot for everyone who helped this, awesome and useful!

P.S:

This is what i did:

1. Installed Comm Manager.

2. Installed CM WIFI Internet Sharing.

3 .Opened Comm Manager.

4. Opened CM WIFI Internet Sharing.

5. Started a connection using CM WIFI Internet Sharing.

After that i was able to load pages and use the internet.

NOTE: YOU MUST OPEN COMM MANAGER BEFORE YOU OPEN CM WIFI INTERNET SHARING, IT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME ANYWAY ELSE.

Thanks again for everyone who helped with this!

I can connect and get an IP but not able to surf the web :)

Update: I finally got it to work. For those people that can connect locally but not access the internet, check the following:

1. Go into WI-FI settings and click XDA-Wifi-Sharing

2. Make sure that "Connects to:" is set to The Internet

3. Click on the Network Adapters tab and also make sure that SyChip Jaguar WLAN GSPI Card is set to connect using The Internet.

4. Then click Edit on SyChip Jaguar WLAN GSPI Card and you want to make sure that you select Use server-assigned IP address is ticked instead of Use specific IP address.

5. Click OK and run Comm Manager followed by CM Wifi Internet Sharing. If done right, the IP assigned to your laptop/PC should begin with a 192.x.x.x and not 169.x.x.x.

Hope this helps!

Works just fine on my Epix. Although, I would like the 2 cabs necessary to be fitted for 320x320, but it works just fine. Needed the newly added fix to make it work completly. Thanks soooo much! Finally I can tether and use active sync at the same time.

I've managed to connect to the XDA-Wifi-Sharing hotspot, but get "limited or no connectivity" from my laptop. The Jaguar chip is set to "Internet" and the ip is assigned by the server, but it's still giving me a 169.**** IP address. It's listed on the settings uner Use server-assigned IP address as 169.254.***.***, as well as in Windows when I do ipconfig /all. Pretty cool that I can actually connect, but I still can't get on the internet this way.

I also have an omnia I910 running Adryn's WM6.5 v2.0 and I got it to worked using the steps I described. You might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the app and then reconfiguring it.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling both programs, no luck. Running CF03 stock ROM. Do I need to install Internet Connection Sharing as well? Also, when I launch the CM Wifi app, it changes my "Jaguar" to "specific IP address" on it's own - if I manually change it to "assigned by server" then it makes the connection in Windows say "waiting for users to connect".

It may be a good idea to ask here if anyone got this app to work on the stock CF03 rom. I also don't know if you need ICS to get this app to work (which I believe you may) since the CF03 rom I'm using already has ICS cooked in. Are you able to tether your phone to your laptop/desktop and get connected that way on the stock CF03 ROM?

Installed ICS, ran it, ran Comm Manager, ran CM Wifi...same result as before. Maybe it's time to move on to a cooked 6.5 ROM again, though for some reason, I really like the (non-widget) CF03 ROM as is.

I had this working on my omnia I910 with stock ROM before the official CFO3 update. It would allow the Laptop to connect and use the Internet with no problems what-so-ever. Now, after installing the official CFO3 update I can see the Wi-Fi router and connect but cannot use the internet. I've done a hard reset and reinstalled the CFO3 update afterwards. Then installed Wi-Fi router and communication manager. I did this to make sure that the CFO3 update did not corrupt my install files located on "My Storage". And it is still not working. Anybody know where I can get the old official ROM? :# I have looked and had no luck so far. Off topic- but I have noticed that since I installed the new ROM it will put a period in with the letters when I am filling in a form/box in Opera browser; for example: CFO3 see.ms to s.uck.

I'm still trying to get the Wi Fi sharing working on the laptop and will leave an update.

Im currently running CCF03 with adrenalyne's 3.0 cooked rom for CFO3 firmware and with CM WIFI it only allows me to connect to the wifi router but not access actual internet browsing. I have done all previous steps to properly work this program but none have worked successfully, though I have noticed when changing the ip address it reverts automatically to the non-server assigned ip when attempting to connect. I don't know what could be the issue, but any help would be greatly apprecciated. : D

I gave up and installed ICS and WMWifiRouter instead, works perfectly.

Worked a treat for me after switching the setting for the jaguar chip to connect to the internet. Ran it on a super-fresh flash of Adrynalyn's 3.0 cf03 rom.

Has anyone got it working with the stock CF03 rom? I've haven't been able to get it working so far. I can see the wireless network and connect to it with a laptop but the CM Internet is not actually connecting to broadband access. It just says XDA-sharing running: ready to accept connection. And yes my network card connects to: The Internet. Jaguar does keep changing to specific IP address and I have to manually change it to: Use sever-assigned IP address. Never had this problem with the previous stock rom. I don't plan on using any cooked ones either. I'll probably be sending the phone back to Verizon for another one without the updated CF03 as my phone was running great before the "recommended official update". Not just because of this internet sharing problem but other small bugs I've noticed since I did this update and I can't find the previous stock rom.

Thanks Sector, works well on my Omnia i910 don't know why others had problems with it, it's rather easy to use

Smurf,

Are you using the stock CF03 rom? Because since I have done the official upgrade, CM Wifi Internet Sharing has not worked. Before the upgrade with the original stock ROM it did work perfectly with no problems. There looks to be an incompatibility issue with the Official CF03 ROM. Just trying to get this problem out there and get it resolved. Thanks

Also, to Sector, Noonski, and Tom_Codon that worked on this (CM WiFi Internet Sharing)... I give you guys Props for your work. Thank you.

Also to others that will be upgrading their phones to the official CF03 update I would place some Reserve on that until this issue is resolved. If you plan on installing a cooked up CF03 ROM then go ahead and do the upgrade because using CM WiFi Internet Sharing with a cooked CF03 ROM (and you can't use a CF03 cooked ROM unless you first do the official CF03 update) is working with some of the cooked CF03 ROM from what previous posters are stating. If you have the previous stock ROM and don't plan on using a cooked ROM then don't do the official update if you plan on using CM WiFi Internet Sharing. CM WiFi Internet Sharing does work perfectly on the previous stock ROM.

I'm having the same issue of the Jaguar WLAN changing off its correct setting. I have to start the Router program, connect with my PC, and then go into the Wifi Settings and switch it over. During this process, the Router program likes to either close completely, or disconnect from the 3G. I do this dance about 4 times, and then magically everything works. I'm using the CC20 release on my Verizon Omnia 910, with the Woozer WM6.5 rom. It seems like theres something in the code of the Wifi Router program that is causing or telling the Jaguar GSPI WLAN to switch its setting. Or, its something in the Jaguar itself. Seems like there should be an easy "duct tape" type fix for this?

Works great here.

Running CF03 verizon rom with BGill55 Flashrom_bgill55_6.5_v1.4CF over top of it and the Topaz commmgr app as suggested.

Thanks for all your hard work!

CF03, I'm pretty sure is based off of that leaked ROM, CC20. To my dismay though I have not been able to get the broadband access connected with CFO3 stock. I do the dance to but just keep dancing in circles. I have also noticed that the communication manager performs oddly at times. It will blank out data connection sometimes then I just do a soft reset to bring it back. I was thinking the problem may be there or with just the CFO3 stock rom itself.

I have read through the originating post of the Wifi internet sharing program at XDA and it says to use morta script. Is anyone familiar with this and could enlighten me?

At this point after hours of trying to figure the problem out. (I'm no programmer or developer though) I have resorted to using WMWifiRouter .91. It works but it is not a secure connection.

Also I got on the phone with Verizon tech support and asked the tech about flashing back to the previous stock ROM. He said to go to a Verizon branch and they should do. I don't know how reliable that info is but I will go check it out. The tech didn't know that the CF03 upgrade was released officially.

Hi fellas,

I was browsing through XDA and found this nice app taken from new HTC Topaz which works exactly like WiFiRouter but it is free. Thanks to the original author Tom_Codon! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...499#post4170499

Well this was for VGA devices so i managed to port it for our resolution.

Please try it out and let me know how it works for you. It might need some adjustments or similar.

Some info: Share Your Internet Connection As A Wifi HotSpot.

Special thank to Alberto for helping on this!

Steps required:

1. Install Topaz CommManager: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=attach...st&id=35306

2. Install the attached cab: CM_Wifi_Internet_Sharing_WQVGA__ported_by_Sector_.cab

Mate, thanks SO much! I've been banging my head against the desk since yesterday because the plain Topaz cab does nothing in my Omnia, but I installed your CM mod and after a soft reset... ta-da!

To those for whom this doesn't work:

  • Make sure you have the i900. The Topaz cab won't work with other models according to xda.
  • Also make sure you install the CM Wifi after the CommManager, and then soft restart the phone.
  • This should be obvious, but just in case: you MUST have an active data plan with enough credit. What the program does is to allow you to use your cellular data plan to connect to the internet, and the wifi to tether your computer. The wifi is just a 'bypass' so to speak.
  • Do NOT connect it with the usb cable as this sometimes prevents cellular connections.
  • It helps too if you close all other programs while running it.

This is going to be so useful with the eee pc. Too bad the bloody battery on the Omnia isn't worth crap. You wouldn't happen to know a trick to improve it, would you? :)
