I have a different problem to others here,

I have it installed on my diamond (with Shaks 6.1 ROM) and it works perfectly, only problem is that it is stuck on the WAP apn, so that if I go to www.lifehacker.com for example it will forward me to m.lifehacker.com as it thinks I am a wap browser.

I have tried to change it but to no avail. Whats really weird is that I don't even have a WAP access point on the phone, the only thing I can think of is that it has read it from the sim card.

How can I specify what internet connection I want the router to use?

I am trying it with a Verizon omnia. I was able to find and connect to the network with my laptop but only got a limited connection. could not get on the internet. any tips?

I had this working on my omnia I910 with stock ROM before the official CFO3 update. It would allow the Laptop to connect and use the Internet with no problems what-so-ever. Now, after installing the official CFO3 update I can see the Wi-Fi router and connect but cannot use the internet. I've done a hard reset and reinstalled the CFO3 update afterwards. Then installed Wi-Fi router and communication manager. I did this to make sure that the CFO3 update did not corrupt my install files located on "My Storage". And it is still not working. Anybody know where I can get the old official ROM? :# I have looked and had no luck so far. Off topic- but I have noticed that since I installed the new ROM it will put a period in with the letters when I am filling in a form/box in Opera browser; for example: CFO3 see.ms to s.uck.

I'm still trying to get the Wi Fi sharing working on the laptop and will leave an update.

I just flashed to the new CF03 ROM and my old set up of ICS and WMWifiRouter v. 0.91 is having troubles getting connected. I think it's the Verizon ROM. They must have checked the boards, seen all of us free tethering, and figured a way to throw a wrench in the works. I had no trouble before, but now getting on the internet with the Omnia acting as a server is spotty at best. Will a new cooked ROM running WM 6.5 work better? I'm tired of this crap. Just about threw the Omnia into the wall last night after trying to get online for 3 hours.

User error.

No monkey wrenches in my phone; CF03 + WMWifiRouter v0.91 has worked perfectly for me since day 1 of the rom release.

Doubtful, since I have been using this combo for over a year on this phone to connect my laptop to the internet on a daily basis. The phone has been acting flaky in general since the ROM update. It will lock up when going into different applications requiring a soft reset, it will stop announcing incoming calls and messages abruptly, work one minute then not the next. Anybody else seen these problems? Maybe the problem is where I got my update from. I downloaded using UMDL from a Vista 64 system. Everything seemed to go smoothly.

Sector is a GOD among men on these boards. what is wrong with this guy? h8isgr8, your blasphemy offends many here.

Anyhow, onto the program. I am testing it out and will report later. It's awesome how quick you were able to create a WQVGA version btw. Then again I don't know how long it takes, but thanks nonetheless.

Why are you flaming h8isgr8?

From what I've read in this thread. The program DOESN"T work period!

He told us that the program doesn't work.

In fact of all the things that this program is suposed to do, absolutely nothing actually works.

Is it so unusual after Sector's...euhm.. "encouraging" post that some ppl might be dissapointed?

I too realise what sector has done for this community and welcome that. But that doesn't mean we ALL have to attack one other member who has problems with a certain program and tells us that.

Lighten up, guys.

Hmmmm.. Well from what i saw h8isgr8 started the flaming first.. And the program does work for some people just not all the people. People like sector work to bring new and enticing things to the Omnia population and to have someone blatantly make a statement such as " Thanks for wasting 10 minutes of my time" Kind of makes it seem like he is employed to do a job.. He does this voluntarily and i wouldn't say Sector "wastes his time" but he takes the time to help the omnia community. What has h8isgr8 done for this forum?? Nothing but cause issues.. its likely because he doesn't appreciate the time taken to do certain things. I can understand if he said "Hey Sector it doesnt work" Period.. And ended it there. But noooo, he goes on to say sector wasted 10 minutes of his time.. and in a very sarcastic way I might add. So until he puts up.. I think he should shut up and just enjoy the fruits of other peoples labor in the background..

Just my 2 cents :)

Where I'm sitting in my living room right now it's working. It's not exactly fast right here, but it works. I don't have a great cell signal in my house, and outside of that we are stuck on dial-up. So if I could find a better signal somewhere in this house I could get much faster than my regular connection. Thanks for the hard work Sector and everyone else who helped him.

I am using Wozzer's 6.5 Rom and followed OP's current instructions exactly. Anyone have any clue if there is a true difference between Verizon's $30.00 unlimited PDA plan and $40.00 unlimited PDA plan? I was told that the higher one supports pc tethering, and the lower one does not, and that the network can tell the difference between the PDA connecting by itself and the PC connecting thru the PDA, but I'm not sure if Verizon is bluffing. I'm also not sure if this "difference" the network can tell has to do with the official tethering program that shipped with my Omnia. (Which I don't use.)

Back to the dial-up to check if there are additional charges on my account now... will report findings after next bill.

Edit:

It would appear there is no charge on the lower plan, and that Verizon is just bullshitting us into paying $10 more per month. Again, I will report again after I see the final bill.

Edit2:

Program worked fine yesterday at home, but when I get to school where the signal is better, I get a local connection, but no outside internet connection. It appears to be unable to resolve DNS. I got it to load Google once, but as soon as it loaded, the connection stopped working. Not sure if Verizon is detecting and blocking or not.

so I flashed to v8 of this ROM from v3 and now stopped working.

My lappy is able to connect to the i910, but it's getting 169. IP address.

I'm going to keep on playing with it, but it was REALLY REALLY cool when it worked.

This is frustrating the heck out of me. I installed both cabs and followed the instructions in this thread. Got connected and online right away on the first try. :D

However, after about 3 or 4 minutes I lost the connection and haven't been able to connect again since. My laptop (XP) says it is connected, but the app on my phone continues to say it is waiting for connection no matter how long I wait. Anyone have any ideas? I'll be glad to provide more information if it will help, but I don't currently know what info to include here.

I've tried resetting both phone and laptop, and I'm still able to connect by tethering with the old intshr app I've had for months.

Im having the problem of getting the 169.xxx.xxx.xxx ip directed to my laptop. I followed the directions. Anyone know of another setting that is making it forward the 169.xxx.xxx.xxx and not the 192.xxx.xxx.xxx? Another thing is the Jaguar Adapter automatically switches to an IP Address of 192.168.1.1 even if i set it to server assign. Is this my problem?

Can i instead using my mobile's internet, can i use my 2nd phone to connect my computer's wifi, and then using this application. Lastly. use my current phone to connect thru my 2nd phone?

It's like Comp's wifi to 2nd phone then route to my current phone to use it? because i am planning this to extend my wifi connection..

I'm using an original i910 ROM pre-CF03 with the comm mgr and cminternet...bleh. i have done everything step by step after reading this entire thread. I can see the connection on my laptop and my ipod but cannot get anything but a 169 even tho setting is server assigned.

Is my rom too old?

Where can I find, and do I need ICS to make it work with this rom?

UPDATE!!!

Problem solved after reading thru this thread

Can you tell us what you did to get your laptop to take a useable IP address from the i910? I keep getting an IP in the 169.x.x.x range which is to say that it is not getting an IP assigned by the wmwifi router. Any pointers to get it to work? Beyond have ICS installed, do you have to actually run it before you start WMwifi?

Thanks...Arniep

At this point after hours of trying to figure the problem out. (I'm no programmer or developer though) I have resorted to using WMWifiRouter .91. It works but it is not a secure connection.

FYI, WMWifiRouter 0.91 CAN be used with WEP. You just have to set it up through the phone's ad-hoc WiFi connection for the WMWifiRouter SSID. I've been doing it that way for quite a while.

That said, I'm really not satisfied with the reliability of WMWifiRouter 0.91 (sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, almost always disconnects), so I've downloaded CM Wifi I.S. and plan to try it out soon under the latest DC22 firmware.

EDIT: Just installed CM_Wifi_IS (from updated first post) under DC22, and it works great. Thanks ;) The only issue so far is that I was not able to enter hex digits (0-9, a-f) into the 10 digit hex key -- it only accepted decimal digits (0-9). Thus, those who use 5 characters to generate 10 hex digit keys may have trouble finding characters that convert to 0-9 rather than 0-f. My Windows interface uses just the characters, so I did an inverse conversion to get 5 ASCII characters from my chosen 10 hex digits (only using 0-9, but still a hex number).

Here is a little project I am trying to get right....hoping to get some info I am missing so far:

I am trying to set-up my Omnia as a wi-fi hotspot to run an iTouch off. For instance...when on the road if I am in a parking lot waiting on someone and want to update my farm or check my iTouch email.....whatever.....I would like to be able to use the iTouch via wi-fi from my Omnia.

So far I seem to get the iTouch to identify a source named 'voice' but it does not get any internet info, the signal bars look strong, but apps keep saying they are not connected or there is an invalid argument.

Any info on something I am missing (or if this isn't even possible for some reason) I would appreciate any info....thanks a lot.

I would think it much simpler and more reliable to use blue tooth to do that. Just use the intshui app on your omnia and select bluetooth when you open it.

That does sound better except for two things...one: I still have a first gen iTouch (no BT) ....but I am seriously considering upgrading SOON!!!!

two: I have no idea what intshui is, please inform me (I will Google it as well, you may be faster though LOL).

Thanks for the info, it is nice to know it may be a lot easier if I get the new iTouch!!!!
