Guest IBTECH Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Anyone found a way to use all applications in landscape mode? Currently only Opera and replying to e-mail / sms works in landscape mode on my phone. All other applications stay in portrait mode even if I put the phone in landscape mode. Is there way around it? I find it puzzling why reading normal emails or SMS or running any other application in landscape is not working out of the box.

Yea that is lame. we should be allowed to rotate any application we want to landscape mode. I hope they will fix it with the next firmware.
Guest wes58 Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Yea that is lame. we should be allowed to rotate any application we want to landscape mode. I hope they will fix it with the next firmware. I have found the following registry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\Rotation] "HideOrientationUI"=dword:00000001 - changing value to 0 enables manual change of orientation in Settings-System-Screen "LandscapeMode"=dword:00000004 - changing this to 1 changes landscape mode from left to right handed I have assigned Button2 in Settings-Buttons to <Rotate Screen> (which is available after you change "HideOrientationUI" to 0) and I can manually change screen orientation for (I think, I haven't tried for all) any application. And I am happy with this solution because that's the way I have been using it before on OMNIA (I900). I think that Samsung haven't finished their software development because some of their software don't work in landscape mode: widget, task switcher rotates but is not displayed properly, Main Menu doesn't rotate at all but if you select settings from Main Menu it can be displayed in landscape mode. That's probably why Auto rotation is not working although there is a key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\MotionSettings] "EnableRotation"=dword:00000001 and "RotationFix"=dword:00000001 - but changing value to 0 doesn't do anything
Guest alvinaloy Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 I found out that when using the Photo Viewer application, either launching it or from the camera, when the phone is in landscape mode, tilt the phone towards the left or right about 30 to 45 degrees and wait about 1 second. The pictures will start to scroll to the left or right automatically depending on your direction of tilt. A 45 degree tilt scolls the pictures faster than a tilt at 30 degrees.
Guest Core Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 I haven’t got kinetic scrolling on mine, what firmware have you got, mine is XXIG1.

Guest Core Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 I just got it working, I was using photo album instead of the cameras photo viewer, thanks for the tip.
