Guest akaarnaz
Phone: Samsung Omnia i910 with CC20 ROM Computer OS: Windows XP with SP3 I flashed the CC20 ROM update to my i910 Omnia, but the SCH-i910 User Upgrade Tool will not go beyond the restart phone step. I have tried: --operating offline/online --following the directions step by step --searching for a CF03 ROM.img to flash --hard-resetting my phone before updating --connecting through Windows Vista Device Center on friend's desktop computer (Device Center did not connect..) -Future steps: --running Windows Vista upgrade tool on my dad's laptop..but first, i will attempt to partner my phone through the device center..(will update results in next post..) Any help is appreciated, I hope that I am not making a "noob" mistake.. :) If you need any more information, just post a reply and ask... Thank you MoDaCo community..in advance.. **Update: Windows Vista** I tried it on my dad's laptop and it still didnt work.. --Windows Mobile Device Center connected perfectly --I followed the steps listed in the User upgrade tool At the last instruction, it stated that i had to uncheck allow USB connections and press the Reset hardware button with the stylus, the updating screen showed....but immediately after the update screen showed...a dialog box popped up that said "USB_Initialized".. Once again, any help is appreciated.. 8/13/09 -Update- *Problem Solved* I made an error in the instructions on Windows Vista..the installer worked flawlessly. Guest level140
I had the same error when flashing my dads phone for him. I had to use my vista laptop to get it working. So yah, go for it. Or download the unofficial "flasher" and get the CF03 rom.

I personally flash my phone once a week. Just follow the directions perfectly.
Guest wildrage
Make sure that your USB setting is set to activesync on the phone..and USB connections are turned ON in windows xp or vista. I know it sounds odd, but the installer first checks to make sure theres an activesync connection, then disables it, then flashes, then enables it again. It won't work if it is initially turned off. Guest u441105
When I was upgrading to the CF03 ROM I had the same problem as you were having. The phone would restart when the Upgrade Tool said it was going to but after it restarted nothing happened. I could use the phone like normal and the tool said it was still restarting. I tried flashing with the CF03 .img and the UMDL but still received errors. The way I fixed this was to uninstall and reinstall ActiveSync. Apparently I installed it incorrectly and my computer had a problem reading the phone. After that the Upgrade Tool worked exactly the way it was supposed to. Guest str8tripin
Thanks for the reply. I uninstalled Activesync v4.5 and retried everything, but it still didnt work.....hmm I had this exact same thing when i flashed my phone. For some reason it would disable the active sync connection but not change the phones USB connection over to sync with mass storage device. After about the 5th try I finally unhooked the phone after it reset and it sat there for 20 minutes doing nothing and the USB setting was wrong. I changed that setting, shut the phone off, plugged it in, turned the phone back on and it imaged just fine. Hopefully this helps if you're still stuck.
