Guest sean singh Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Hi, Is it possible to use this method to install a custom recovery on a hero which already has an older version of a custom recovery ? My hero has a recovery which reads ClockWorkMod recovery v2.0.1.3 and the reason I want to change it is that its very bad at restoring backups. It will not restore a backup created within itself and throw up an error "MD5 mismatch". Although the backup is made with the same recovery nandroid in the same sd card. I have also tried downgrading the ROM using RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.5_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe without and with using a goldcard but still in both cases it gave me a signature error. I currently have a stock rom 2.73.405.66 and am trying this on a win7 pc. BTW I also tried simply flashing a 2.73.405.5 rom directly but it doesn't work (with a wipe). gives me the following error - E:Can't symlink /system/bin/bugreport E:Failure at line 4: symlink dumpstate SYSTEM:bin/bugreport Installation aborted. Anyway, I would just appreciate if anyone can tel em if I can use the method stated in this thread to just flash a new recovery on my hero the way it is now. Thanks, Sean.

Guest eddablin Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Hi guys. This method seems to be the only way that works for me. I don't know why. Guest sinplicity Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 GSM Hero (a Hero with a SIM card - e.g. the European Hero) on WINDOWS adb-windows shell reboot bootloader (wait for device to reboot into bootloader) fastboot-windows boot recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.2.img (wait for device to boot into recovery) install-recovery-gsm-windows.bat Thank you for the clarity and simplicity of this post. After hours of bending my head around the process needed to get my Hero out of Cupcake and into Eclair (at least), this set me on my way sweetly. I'm finally rocking something that the Android Market can see, at least. You rock.
