HOWTO: Upgrade T-mobile Omnia UK

Hi!

I've been stuck on how to upgrade the T-MOBILE UK Omnia from BOHH5 to DZIA5.

I found the best way was as follows:

1) Install repos ROM & Install

2)Modify phone to Singapore

3) Download ROM direct rom Samsung and Install

Problems I found:

a)*#1546792*# does NOT work...

Press the 'dial' key to the left of the optical pad to bring up the dialer

With the onscreen keypad input *#1546792*#

Select 'Preconfiguration'

Enter code *#81230*# and select OK

Select 'UK', with the default Operator

Accept this, DEVICE WILL HARD RESET

Run update, and all should be well.

:) Repos ROM part installs for PDA NOT phone, it just fails.

Steps below:

1)

DXHJ1 (full update, tested OK, latest English ROM): http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?dt1wouiltmn

You need Windows XP to install this Vista/7 won't work.

Install Activesync & Samsung Driver http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=attach...st&id=26354

Install the ROM, it installed for me EXCEPT it didn't install the phone part.

2)

Select 'UK', with the default Operator

Accept this, DEVICE WILL HARD RESET

Run update, and all should be well.

This worked just fine for me but as soon as it hard reset don't accept changing networks.....

3) go to http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/omnia/sg/sub02_xp.jsp

Download the latest ROM for the Omnia and just install it. No questions asked.

I know this is quick and dirty howto, if anyone finds it useful PM me, and I will do a proper walk though on it.
