Guest saznpins Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Hi all, I've had my O2 for about a week and I've noticed that it will only charge when it is turned off, and will only charge from the mains adapter, not from the car charger or the USB cable... Is anyone else having this problem or have I just gotten unlucky and need to see about a replacement :D Cheers, Sarah

But USB cable and Samsung CAD300UEB car charger will not charge just when unit is turned off. Buy a Nokia DC-6 car charger, it will work. (USB cable will only charge when conected to PC) Edited August 18, 2009 by dezmo

(USB cable will only charge when conected to PC) Thanks...but what is the reasoning behind this? I have a griffin car charger, which is basically just a USB port -- you plug whatever USB cable into it and it will charge your device. It works on EVERY other device I have...iPod nano, iPod touch, HTC Touch Cruise, HTC Kaiser, HTC Touch Pro, Samsung OmniaHD, and the original verizon Omnia...but with the Omnia 2, it will only charge off this car charger when the device is turned off. I don't want to buy a new charger just for this phone...what is the reasoning behind this..does anyone know? It doesn't make sense, cause the OmniaHD has a higher specd battery (1500mah I believe) and it charges just fine. Maybe this is a software thing that can be disabled somehow? I've never once had a problem with this particular griffin car charger and any other device..I trust it ;)
Guest Tarqon Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) From what I understand, the Omnia 2 does not charge unless it's also receiving a data connection. Somebody circumvented this by soldering the data+ and data- on his charger together and it worked. Edited December 13, 2009 by Tarqon

Thanks so much for this info..although it does give me lots of Samsung RAGE...bunch of arseholes ;) Yeah so in order to CHARGE a phone it needs data connection...DUHRRRRRRRR...Even you can be a Samsung engineer!! Anyways ;p I will give that a try..I don't think it will screw with any of my other devices and I really don't want to buy another charger when this one is actually very nice.
