omnia 2 and tp2

The omnia has a much higher cpu clock than htc (800 vs like 528), is the performance difference not as bad as the numbers would say?? Why is it that the omnia 2 is commonly called "laggy" and the touch pro 2 deemed "snappy?"If it is only touch wiz would it be fair to say that with proper ROMS the omnia 2 would have a much higher ceiling as far as performance goes than the Touch pro 2? Which has better custom ROM support? My main issue is a snappy OS....which is best for me. BTW im a verizon customer waiting on both of these...thanks in advance!!
