Guest sashom Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) Nice rom , 10x. Edited December 9, 2009 by sashom
Guest dan o'neil Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 Thanks - a great ROM. Updated last night from 2.9 to 3.0 and added the quick fix for teknologist and my phone is like a new phone. Not sure which has made the drastic increase in speed, but I went from a phone that was a bit laggy, to a lightning fast phone in the space of a few minutes. Top job!!
Guest Splather Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 Should you be able to see /system/sd/app with Astro? Only get as far as /system/sd, no more folders after that.... Guys - anyone help with this? Ta
Guest Appstore Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 Hi all, Really need help... FYI, previously I rooted and upgraded my HTC Hero to Modaco Chinese Custom V2.8 ROM from the ori ROM. After doing so, at a random time and random apps operating, the "force close" appear in a loop ( endlessly until I restart the Hero by power ON/OFF ). This issue will be repeated in a random time again after I restart the Hero. Hence, I upgraded the Hero from Modaco Chinese Custom V2.8 ROM to Modaco Custom ROM 3.0 Core, hoping this upgrade will solve the force close loop issue. However, the above symptom repeated again. Is there any solutions for this "force close" loop issue? Really hope there are solutions for this issue.. Thanks in advance for any advises...
Guest Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 force close loop issue Have you tried wiping the data partition? That might help. You could do a nandroid backup, wipe and if that doesn't improve the situation, restore again.
Guest Moenmann Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) ;) thanks!!! Works great! In a general way, is there such application that I should not remove ??? I'm thinking about removing Google Talk (I'm never using instant messaging) and eventually the flash player as it is just good at playing add... To remove Google TALK: adb remount adb shell rm system/app/*Talk* I've had no problems doing that neither ;) I don't know about flash tho.. I think you should keep it! Whenever you remove stuff you aint sure about, backup the apk and odex first! That way you can just put it back if you screw up. I believe you should not remove any of the sms/messaging apks even if you use 3rd party apps like Handcent.... Edited December 9, 2009 by Moenmann

Guest toxaris Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 I only have one small problem. If I turn my mobile while I am browsing, the browser stays in portrait instead of becoming landscape. If I remember correctly, it used to change before patching. Is this a bug, am I doing something wrong or is my memory playing tricks on me? Strange, when I turn the device anti-clockwise it does become landscape but clockwise it doesn't. Since I am left-handed clockwise is more natural for me...
Guest jim.mason Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 Strange, when I turn the device anti-clockwise it does become landscape but clockwise it doesn't. Since I am left-handed clockwise is more natural for me... I thought that had always been the case. I'm left handed and I agree with you - lets hope it gets sorted soon as it would be useful
Guest jazacoop Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 Hey guys, This is my first Modaco version (v2), so I'm not sure if this is a recent bug intoduced or something else? After my device has been turned on a while, it loses the ability to move items around on the homescreens (i.e when you press and hold down on an item, it recognises it as a single press and opens it). Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this, and if it isn't a bug, how I can fix it? Cheers.
Guest cdmackay Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Should you be able to see /system/sd/app with Astro? Only get as far as /system/sd, no more folders after that.... Yup, that's what I see, too. Presumably because the perms on /system/sd mean an ordinary app can't list it? # ls -ld /system/sd drwxrwx--x 5 1000 1000 4096 Nov 12 19:49 /system/sd If you try viewing it with a root-enabled file browser, e.g. Root Explorer, you can see into it fine.

Guest dr_ysp Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) hi people, I have been on modaco 3.0 for some days installed total 38 applications, & also on htc stock rom .66 on which 3.0 is based with same number of applications. PAUL, i must say u have done hell of a good job ur ROM is fast, consuming less battery, only problem was in section of sdcard and phone storage in settigs memory available free on phone for both roms was 95mb. i have ubuntu installed it show about 40mb full with app folders on sdcard. i am little confused!! what is the explanation for that. does that mean we can install as applications as we want on htc rom also. can any one throw any light. Guest delbacca Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Is there a reason why the Chinese version is not out yet? its missed 2 releases ;) Is it going to be phased out?
Guest Salski Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Just wanted to say that I have no problems using 3.0. Seems much much faster than previous roms! This is what the original rom should be. One thing: the Notes app is something I don't like, is it really necessary to put into the rom? Well, anyways it's also easy to delete..
Guest DeepInside Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 yes yes app2sd works but WHY does android count the internal storage if i install some apps...very confusing is there an fix for that?

Because the .odex files are stored in internal memory for faster access, and there is a new one for every app you install.

It's easier to help when we know what the problem is. Hi Igniztion, thanks alot for the advise. I have run the 'adb shell logcat', and have copy and paste some of the "script" from the dos environment and have pasted it on notepad ( as attached ). I only manage to copy and paste some of the script... The scripts seems repeating whenever I tab on the Hero force close button. I m not too sure how to read those script,... really need your help to have a look on those scripts... and to guide or advise me to solve this issue... FYI, below are the list of force close msg i got from the hero : THIS MSG LOOPS INFINITELY ( everytime I tab to force close the msg ) UNTIL I RESTART HERO //////////////////////// Process com.htc.provider is not responding. Application HTC Sense (in process com.htc.launcher) is not responding. Application Touch Input (in process com.htc.android.htcime) is not responding. The process system has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. The application HTC Sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. The application Google Apps (process com.google.android.googleapps) has stopped unexpectedly. Guest Appstore Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Thanks TypeOPeter, I will try it and see how its go... thanks Hi TypeOPeter, sorry... I m still quite new to your meaning "wipe partition". Does it means that I select "Wipe SD:ext partition" when I m in the RA-hero-v1.2.3 environment? Thanks again...
Guest owen1978 Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Great work Paul & co, the 3.0 ROM is fast plus that patch from Teknologist made it faster! Cant wait to see what you do with droid 2.0 However... Before the update, using HTC People Widget on my homescreen, it used to display peoples facebook pictures, but during the update procedure during the backup phase I backed up all my contacts using wavesecure and after I finished the update i retrieved my contacts. But eversince then the HTC People widget doesnt display there facebook picture but the default grey profile pic? How can i resolve this? I tried deleting a user and then recreating them to see if that would solve it but it didnt work? Has anyone else had the same problem? Any ideas? Thanks
