Guest Paul Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 First post updated... Changelog RC1 - Yet another different optimisation script - Updated Wireless Tether app :) P
Guest thecastlefordkid Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Thanks Paul, Downloading now and will let you know how things look. If the previous betas are anything to go by, I can't see there being any issues with RC1
Guest thecastlefordkid Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) Very very nice. Super fast boot up, nice and responsive. Took a couple of minutes to settled down at first but once that's out of the way, it's great. Paul, is there anything that you can do with the time it takes to display mails in HTC Mail? It's the one thing that gripes me about the Hero. When you start the app up, there's always a delay of a few seconds before the app and mails load fully. If you can speed that up, the ROM for me would be perfect (at least until the android 2.1 based ROM is available). EDIT : If it's not possible, no worries. Just thought I'd mention it whilst it was on my mind. Edited January 6, 2010 by thecastlefordkid
Guest commodoor Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) I don't know what you did after MCR 3.0 but its great i love it can't put my phone away. didn't found any bug, tomorrow i will do battery test, to see how the battery drain is. ps: you did better job than HTC :) Edited January 6, 2010 by commodoor
Guest Zerofigther Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Hi Paul! First i must say thx 4 your great ROM lov it=) I can't wait when the htc ROM 2.1 is out and you customize it.. certainly also a great ROM! So I got a question or maybe a suggestion? Few Weeks ago I order a In ear headphone with mic and a function button (like the apple headphones) Moray+ from Razer. The reason, i think many people are in my opinion, when I say the original HTC headphone is crap... Sound quality is really bad... anyway i noticed, that the button on the mic is not work very well like when i put in a iphone or ipod touch... For all those who do not know what I mean... press one time the button musik play/stop, twice next track, three times and it go one track back. At the moment, when you tap the button it will call the last person in the calllist.... So my question is, is it possible to made some changes in the htc player or in the system, is that possible? ok thx and good night from germany=)
Guest Fran80 Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 One day with beta 2 and everything works perfect. A very great rom. Just one request. Is there any posibility of (while browsing) launch YouTube videos with the app instead of HTC flash?
Guest phpdecoders Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 With this RC the phone wont sleep when the app "netcounter" is running.. When I kill it then it is fine..
Guest pandablue Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Paul, Can I just apply boot sound .zip on 3.1RC1 or I should wait for an update?
Guest Bol2riz Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 I've seen something about that on the forum but searching for it returns me the search flood control error... So I'll ask the question. I've downloaded the RC1 but when I try to do a nandroid+ext backup it tells me to run nandroid-mobile.sh via adb. Why? Beta 1 and 2 never asked that. Bol2riz
Guest danneman78 Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 After RC1 i can't seem to perform a Nandroid backup anymore. Anyone else having the same problem?
Guest Higgsy Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Totally agree. The benefits are here for us all, Paul and all the developers here need to be recognised and rewarded for their unselfish devotion to the Android world! :) Agreed whoever did that is a proper numpty
Guest Higgsy Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 No issues with Nandroid backup via RA 1.5.2 recovery for me on 3.1 RC1
Guest Keramidas Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Hi all, FYI: I have just sent Titanium Backup 2.1.9 Beta to Paul, as a candidate for inclusion in MoDaCo ROM 3.1 :) (2.2.0 is out, but it contains only fixes - ie: gzip compression support - for non-MoDaCo users, and is much less tested).
Guest bojzi Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 No issues with Nandroid backup via RA 1.5.2 recovery for me on 3.1 RC1 Yeah, just did a successful backup via RA 1.3.2 on 3.1 RC1. Could the people with issues at least write which recovery image they're using?
Guest Dan Mullen Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 I have been debating whether to repartition my card (16 gb class 6, currently all fat32, i.e., it is in its "out-of-the-wrapper" state) and I am curious about your response "apps are kept, configs are gone." If one followed the steps outlined in the post to which you responded, viz., copied all the data on the card back to the card, albeit in a new partition, why would the config info go away? Apps' config data is stored in /data. This is on the phone, not the SD card. While I'm at it, let me ask a stupid question: What exactly is the purpose of reformatting the card? I have never been too clear on this, so I would appreciate it if someone could explain it. One reason I hesitate to reformat is that flash devices in gen'l are notorious for failing more quickly when you monkey with the formatting. If you partition your SD card so you have an ext2/3/4 partition as well as a fat32 one, you can take advantage of apps2sd that's built into MCR. Basically, this means that your apps will be installed to the ext partition of your SD card automatically, so they won't be taking up any of your limited internal storage space. (There will still be some internal storage used for program data and the dalvik cache compiled bytecode, but not as much as if the app was there too). The upshot is that you will be able to install more apps before running out of space.
Guest elelinux Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 I've just become an ad free member and new member and i love the speed in your rom,but have some issues when i try ratcoms metamorph clearlook themes hmm nothing works at all, actually my weather widget disapear :) Sorry for my bad english.
Guest Dan Mullen Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 With this RC the phone wont sleep when the app "netcounter" is running.. When I kill it then it is fine.. Did you find an answer to this? I also use NetCounter and would like to know if it's definitely an issue between this app and MCR3.1 RC1 before I upgrade. Thanks :)

Long story but it's definitely nothing to do with MCR B)
Guest dreadite Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Guys how long does it take the 3.0 rom to load up on first boot? I load it just fine from the 1.2.3 Amon recovery image, but the phone has been sitting at the htc screen for like 20 minutes. Is this just not going to work or what? I did a restore factory settings before i loaded the rom, too. Don't know whats up. Can anyone help me with this? My AIM name is dudebroxcore
Guest JadeMonkee Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 (edited) Just paid my subscription and am flashing the RC1 as we speak (I didn't perform a wipe). My main reason for upgrading was to get rid of the lag in the keyboard that causes symbols to be inserted rather than letters (as if I was doing a "long press" on the key). If this is fixed, I think I'll wet myself. I can't wait for it to flash. I just realised that I didn't do a davlik wipe before applying the update. Should I have? Install complete! Let's reboot! XD EDIT: Rebooted. Looks good. HOwever, my baseband is listed a 63.18.55.06JH_6.35.08.29 JH? I've never seen this (and it isn't available here) should I upgrade to the latest on that page? Or keep this mysterious version? EDIT2: I noticed that I still had the low system memory after applying the upgrade (only 23MB on the phone). So I went back to the recovery image and wiped dalvik. Rebooted and, hey presto, I now have 53MB free. Fantastic work. I'll report back after using it for a while to see what the speed is like (and if the keyboard still has that problem or not). Thanks again, Paul! EDIT3: Been using it for a few hours now, and it seems super-fast. The screen rotation is MUCH faster (and, subsequently, much less embarrassing) and the keyboard seems to be much snappier. It has fixed almost all the gripes I have had with this phone. Now if 2.1 brings an LED flash to the deivce, I'll have the perfect phone :) Edited January 7, 2010 by JadeMonkee

Personally, I've had it take around 15 minutes with around 120 apps installed. 20 minutes does sound like a long time though.
Guest agony&htc Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 Apps' config data is stored in /data. This is on the phone, not the SD card. The upshot is that you will be able to install more apps before running out of space. Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I still don't get it: Since /data is a mount point that refers to memory that lives on the phone, how does it "know" that you reformatted the card? As far as the purpose of reformatting, I am assuming that the apps2sd application can only save to an ext2/3/4 partition; this is interesting as it means that apps2sd must bypass regular system calls when performing I/O, otherwise the way the card is formatted wouldn't matter. Again, thanks for the help.
Guest ryanbr2005 Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 is this ROM compatible with mytouch 3g? I tried to flash and it keeps saying installation aborted.??
