Wow Paul, Beta 2 was terrible for me, what ever you have done has worked wonders. Using 3.2 now with no problems at all :)

Thank you for your help, works great now!

However I have some problems/questions about this rom.

The vibration feels much less (almost not at all) when typing compared to stock, do you experience this? (edited for saving battery maybe?) Is there a way to make it vibrate a bit harder because it was a lot nicer to type before.

Am I supposed to feel that it is so much faster compared to the stock rom, because I honestly don't.

The menu/application list feels a bit jerky/laggy - is it like this to you too?

Google maps don't have multitouch with this release?? Instead there are two buttons for zooming, can I get the pinch method back?

Your phone feels sluggish...look for a rogue app. Check my Sticky Post about TCK...

For Google Maps, it has never had multitouch (not even in Google Nexus one I think !)

I think you maybe mixing with your old iPhone! ;-)

Yeah you right on vibration which is hard to feel. Don't know how stock was as I always disable it.

When Hero was first released, from the account of users on net, I assumed it was very very laggy. Then Paul and Tecknologist tweaked Rom and kernel to the satisfaction of all users. Probably HTC peoples noted the tweaks and released their own updated ROM, so itself are very good for everyday use. And yes, as you, I didn't found GENERALLY any speed difference between stock, MCR3.0 and MCR3.1 . I rooted the phone not for speed but for the unknown and unseen benefits(i'm new to android) in future and don't regret it. For the moment, the big difference I've found with 3.1 is WIFI speed on phone is lot better than any previous version. Give time to the ROM and could be one day, you'll notice the difference. As for General speed of phone, we are now talking about times that are under 1 second. If you can timed it, then be concern.

Yes, true on menu/application list. Can't remember with stock or 3.0 but with 3.1 it is noticeable. I've HelloMoto (Moto blur) theme and not sure whether Rosie is optimised or not but after that theme, menu/application list's is smooth for about 97%( conservative estimate). Other 3% is when downloading, installing etc and very noticeable. IMO all ROM to date has the same problem.

hmm not sure but android 1.5 never had multi touch on Google map.

I can't seem to see info anywhere, is there anything that does NOT work? If not, i'll be rooting and flashing this immediately. Thanks.

This is based on official HTC released ROM and everything is 100% working. On contrary, there are extra benefits added just go to the first post by Paul.

I noticed that the signal issues started again for me on 3.2. I kept getting sudden drop of network and also noticed if say the phone signal was high it would drop out the gprs coverage and vice versa. I have been experiencing this for a while now and seems to be the latest radio's that cause it.

I have switched back to a late donut radio - 63.18.55.06ju_6.35.08.29

I am now on a constant connection with mobile internet and the phone signal never drops to nothing. The signal never really reaches the full peeks that it used to on the eclair radios but its much more reliable now. This has been tested in the same areas where I had previous problems. Either this has fixed it or my network are very temperamental lol

Hey Paul, looks like some no-good fools are spreading your private betas;

tsk tsk tsk...

Thanks for your posts guys! Yeah the benefits with this rom are far greater then speed, just being able to get rid of some stock apps is great!

I guess that I will have to live with the slight jerky applications list, not there that often anyway so.

I have not noticed any improvement with the newest radio, actually I have 1 bar less at mine home wireless network then I had with the stock radio? But not having any connection problems so Ill leave it as is for now - makes me wonder if the top speed has decreased with this?

I thought this rom would fix bluetooth sending and receiving capabilities? Or do you need to do more to get it working?

Damn now I am confused, was 100% sure that my google maps had multitouch - almost want to return to stock rom just to check this hehe but I will take your word for it.

teknologist: thanks for the tip will check it out, but I did a clean wipe/install so there are no more apps then those that come with modaco rom, still chance for a rouge app?

Some people have reported the Android Notes app behaving erratically CPU usage wise...Apart from that...dunno...

Also Application list is 100% smooth here...

Now, one thing to keep in mind, whenever there is a google sync going on it seems the phone lags for a few secs (even worse when on slow connection, i.e. EDGE)

Nothing we can do about that....

Hi.

Kitchen worked like a charm, but would it be possible to add native Python support and a good full linux console/terminal, at least as an option? That would be kick-ass.

Keep up the good work!

I will also join those who find that the battery drain has really increased with 3.2b3 (at least b3, can't tell for sure with b1 and b2).

since 3.2 beta 3 (upgraded from 3.1), i strangely have only 3G instead of HSDPA on T-Mobile D where i used to have HSDPA

The new roaming settings actually work well for me.

I'm on 3 Australia, and when you lose 3G reception, you piggy back onto another operator's 2G network. Data is very expensive on the 2G network, so I used to have a 3rd party app (Data Controller) that changes the APNs when you leave 3's network, so that data stops working. An inelegant, but working solution.

Now, with the new network options, it seems that I can now natively stop data when roaming nationally. Fantastic.

I'm yet to test that it works, but I look forward to retiring Data Controller.

The loss of the "use only 2G networks" was a small price to pay (I used to use it when my battery was getting low, or I was holidaying in a 2G only area).

Yeah, I found the same thing on my last trip out of the country. I was using APNDroid up until 3.1 was available for download. Now I can just have the mobile network widget on my home screen to turn it off completely or choose to sync for mails etc when I want. Massive improvement for me

Ok I managed to get to the point where I apply the update.zip using the flashrec utility and I got this error:

E:Cant open /cache/recovery/command

Install from sdcard

Finding update package...

Opening update package...

Verifying update package...

E:No signature (762 files)

E:Verification failed

Installation aborted

Any ideas? HELP! :)

No, this rom dousn't have any HDPA Icons.

It has only 3G, E and G for mobile connections.

Your Connection isn't slower, it can't show the H!

Hi Paul, Rom is really quick, and I have also noticed that I only appear to get 3G and not HSPDA on orange UK. Could this be a '3' tweak on the new .73 rom that you have based 3.2 on? Besides that the phone is superbly quick and responsive. It just gets better and better!

Many thanks,

Carl.

OK, sorry for the trouble!

I've thought I've read somewhere something about that.

Hey Guys,

i have a Problem :)

Yesterday I rooted my HTC Hero (GSM, German) and put MoDaCo 3.1 on it, including the latest Radio (63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26).

All works fine but after some hours, HTC Sense gets a forced close. When I click this notification away, it appears instantly again. (After some clicks the "system" must be closed notification appears too) - It's a perpetuum mobile :'(

So I am forced to restart my Hero (I have to be quick cause of the notifications).

I updated from HTC stock 2.73.xxx Firmware and don't wiped my phone (it isn't necessary Paul said).

What can I do?

PS: After the ROM upgrade, but before the first start, I formatted my SD-Card with a linux-swap (32MB) and an ext4 partition (512MB)

Is anyone able to set lockscreen background with files on the SD card after flashing modaco 3.2?

I want to change the background in my lockscreen but I can only see my camera shots.
