Guest Incomer Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 thats strange ... i'm getting a lot of FC , with no reason , trying to open the market , the msgs , browser , anything with beta 5 . all i did was pushing the hebrew fonts in it and installing a hebrew keyboard . can they do that ? replacement of fonts can bring the system down ? is there any log that i can upload from the device to here for you guys to look at ? thanks yeah you can post your logcat install adb on your pc, connect usb cable adb remount adb logcat and you see a log, copy the errors to pastbin or something, and whe can take a look into it :)
Guest miragebg Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Please tell me how could I manually disable compcache?
Guest SM411 Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) I got two questions. Do I root my phone by installing this rom? Can i add a norwegian T9 to this rom? Is this a good tutorial on instaling custom rom? http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-ro...o-in-one-click/ http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-lo...-your-htc-hero/ Edited January 22, 2010 by SM411

Guest teknologist Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 (edited) In SDK I write "adb shell remount", but it says: remount: not found :)(((( Sorry, it's 2AM here and back from an Irish Pub, I am a dork... adb remount Edited January 23, 2010 by teknologist
Guest teknologist Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 thank you very much!!!! And what to do if I want re enable it? You reflash or if you want to backup the file just do this prior to removing it with rm: adb pull /system/init.d/compache.sh . (the dot here is important) to restore it later adb push ./compcache.sh /system/init.d/compache.sh

Guest Geochelone Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 My baked ROM is super slow. I finished typed one sentence, two seconds later the whole words came instantly. That's how lag the input of the latest beta. It takes one second to see the home after unlock the lockscreen. Three seconds to load SMS from top status bar. Two seconds to pop the keyboard. Two seconds to slide the keyboard down. Damn baked ROM.
Guest spooky2977 Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 to disable compcache i removed compcache.sh from the dir /system/init.d/ but compache is still loaded with 4096 kb. there must be another script where compcache starts...do you have any ideas ??

Guest ZiCoN Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Can i add a norwegian T9 to this rom? Norweigan should alredy be in there :)
Guest btnelson Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 I love that I can come here from my phone's browser, bake up a new ROM, download, move to /, reboot, reflash and have a new OS without ever touching a PC. Paul rocks. Just tried out AOSP 2.1 for a bit but missed all the niceness is MCR 3.2 too much. Can't wait for official 2.1 for Hero.
Guest e2zippo Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 I just subscribed because you're doing an amazing job! Do you have to "activate" me before i can bake a rom or am i good to go? (why don't i just try it) :)
Guest khunjj Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 I am on MCR 3.2b3. Since b5 out until now, there is a few people saying about it. Would like to hear more about it. Thanks,

Guest TeunieChun Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 I'm using beta 5 now and it works great! Really fast, no FC yet. Don't understand why people complain about compcache: it works great here. But maybe that's due to how you use your phone. Still a great rom! Waiting for 2.1 though :) Teun
Guest masterpfa Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 (edited) I am on MCR 3.2b3. Since b5 out until now, there is a few people saying about it. Would like to hear more about it. Thanks, This is such a great ROM, fast & responsive. I have tried a few combinations of this and other ROMS. I personally have not had a single issue with anything. My ROM included: Google Applications - (both) HTC Application - Sense and Tweet Third Party Application - Spare Parts, Titanium, Wavesecure Expert options - Boot sounds Left Compcahe 'cos I'm sure Paul & Teknologist know what they talking about. I have found Wi-Fi and Mobile comms to be excellent an no issues with FC or this ROM :) Edited January 23, 2010 by masterpfa
Guest La_Biscotte Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 English is the only language included in the beta 5 could you please put french and other languages? thx! :-)
Guest TeunieChun Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 English is the only language included in the beta 5 could you please put french and other languages? thx! :-) I believe you should use 'More Locale' for language support. I didn't do a wipe from 3.1 and still have my Dutch support. You can find the link to More Locale in the 3.1 topic
Guest thecastlefordkid Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Decided to flash a custom custom 3.2 beta 5 after a wipe and a complete format of my SD Card. Everything works well. Only issue I had was that I couldn't turn on WiFi when the phone booted up. In the settings, it was showing as turning on for ages and ages. Strangely enough, powering down and powering on again, WiFi came back to life so it looks like beta 5 may just need a couple of power off/power on cycles before it's porperly working. For beta 5, I decided to cook the rom without compcache to see what difference it made to things, to be honest I haven't noticed anything different speed wise etc. It's been quite interesting to see how the rom performed after a wipe and with a complete standard SD card re-format i.e. no partitions etc. Quite liking it it so far. Nice and responsive. Now I've got past the minor WiFi issue, it gets a big thumbs up from me.
Guest spooky2977 Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Are you shure you have no compcache enabled..i cooked the rom whit Compcache disabled..but compcache is still enabled...cooking beta 5 whithout Compcache do not disable it..seems to be a bug here..
