i redownloaded a second time....still compcache is enabled..what i am doing wrong ???

cat /proc/swaps reports to me a partition ramzswap0 with 49024 size....

compcache is disabled for me since redownloading after pauls fix, cat /proc/swaps and cat /proc/ramzswap commands now report nothing.

Just paid a little to this amazing website. Cooked 'my own' Rom (3.2 B5), installed it and it just flies! Great work being done by Paul.

Hmm 50mb swap aswell, the default compcache size is 130mb in this rom, so why 50mb

posibly the config of the rest of the rom?

try downloading one with my settings and see if same?

I leave out:

foot prints

market apps

htc peep

stocks sync

wavesecure

dropbear ssh

boot sounds are off and of course no compcache

that means..that the script that does normaly load and configure ( 130 MB )compcache is disabled...compcache must be loaded from another script. in rom 3.1.1 it is working..but in this beta 5..there is no way..to disable compcache...the configuration is not correct if you cook whit compcache disabled..

Subs for ad-free yesterday and have tried 3.2 b5, seems to work pretty fine, faster than pre-3.2 versions :) Only issue i have found is something not specific to 3.2, but Titaniumbackup screws up my google sync, erases all my contacts. Good thing i have backuped google contacts B)

Anyways, good work Paul-man :D

Edit:

Is there any way to get access to older nandroidbackups, and manually move my sms to the current system?

well after all feedback from the forums I have disabled compcache totally in my 3.2b5...

I think Paul's last ROM is so fast that the benefits we had with CC in the first ROMs have become more a of downside in the latest.

IMHO I think there is something wrong in the way compcache works (is developed) and I don't think the occasional sluggishness are related to compression/decompression but rather an excessive fragmentation over time...

My Hero feels great with 4.2b5 without compcache and this is even after 48Hrs+ uptime...

So from now on I will advise to disable compcache...

a big thx to everyone on the forums for giving the feedback !

Hi

I'm facing a strange problem with MMS sending. With stock ROM there is no problem in sending or receiving messages, however playing around with different releases of MCR, I can neither send nor receive MMS- with one exception: if the phone is switched to WIFI mode and I send an MMS then 3G or H symbol appears and sending/receiving works without problem. Working now with 3.2b5 without compache.

Any Ideas ?

Regards

You know...I think I have always been receptive and open minded mate !

Only stupid/stubborn people never change views on a subject ! ;-)

Nevertheless I still think a few months ago in the first kernels/ROMs, compcache did bring a great improvement to my Hero user experience ! :-)

Paul has done a fantastic job in optimizing and making his latest builds awesomely fast ! 3.2b is really a killer ROM IMHO !

Orange Switzerland. This did not work for me, port number was correctly set to 8080. I think APN for MMS is correct since it works in "Wifi-Mode". I suggest it has something to do with the "activation" of the APN. I heard in other threads that for some people they could get it working for only one MMS after saving the MMS APN. Really strange ! I'm wondering what tweak in MCR could influence MMS sending just for some people or better to say ISP....strange

Go to

Settings>Wireless Controls>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names>

From here click on to your default access point should be highlighted

Scroll to the botton to "APN type"

If this has an "*" here, this will need to be changed to "default" (without the asterisks ")

Save

Then try sending yourself a picture message, I had the same problem some time back, these were the instructions I got from HTC support, have worked for me ever since!

:)
