Guest hoschilo Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Go to Settings>Wireless Controls>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names> From here click on to your default access point should be highlighted Scroll to the botton to "APN type" If this has an "*" here, this will need to be changed to "default" (without the asterisks ") Save Then try sending yourself a picture message, I had the same problem some time back, these were the instructions I got from HTC support, have worked for me ever since! B) Tried with no luck. I think the MMS setting are correct...JC I hate to go back to stock.. :)
Guest keyra74 Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 No issues at all here on Orange FR using HSDPA ! ;-) it gave me issues when trying to use tv stream or checking my consommation
Guest Pitel Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) Hmm, I just tried MMS too. APN settings looks fine according to my provier's website, but I didn't received their testing MMS message. GPRS/EDGE works fine, SMS through their web gate does too. I just tried to send MMS from real phone. Hero displayed notification in messages, but when I try to download the message, GPRS/EDGE icon appears for a while, and then it says error occured. Guest TeunieChun Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 You know...I think I have always been receptive and open minded mate ! Only stupid/stubborn people never change views on a subject ! ;-) Nevertheless I still think a few months ago in the first kernels/ROMs, compcache did bring a great improvement to my Hero user experience ! :-) Paul has done a fantastic job in optimizing and making his latest builds awesomely fast ! 3.2b is really a killer ROM IMHO ! I absolutely agree! Your kernel did a great job for me back then, but Paul's work does an even better job. I'm just wondering now: is there a way to disable compcache without reflashing? Teun
Guest atka Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Not sure if this was mentioned before in this thread but when I disable QuickOffice and Titanium Backup they are still included in the rom.
Guest BreTT57 Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Hi Paul, Why your kitchen engine is named daisy? :) It titillating me lol!
Guest pillock Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Not sure if this was mentioned before in this thread but when I disable QuickOffice and Titanium Backup they are still included in the rom. I noticed this in the case of QuickOffice, but figured it was more likely to be user error (i.e. my bad!) Can't guarantee that I wiped before install, and I came from a non-Kitchen MCR with QuickOffice installed so if I didn't wipe, it'd still be there right?
Guest teknologist Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 I absolutely agree! Your kernel did a great job for me back then, but Paul's work does an even better job. I'm just wondering now: is there a way to disable compcache without reflashing? Teun I always said most of performance increase would come from ROM. After all, the programs running and "eating" CPU cycles are on the ROM right ? ;-) As per disabling compcache it's been already answered on the forums quiet a few times... but reflashing is not a big deal and quite straightforward as you don't need to wipe.

Also may I remember my kernel is not only about compcache (in fact it's just one of the items in it). a few things: It enables openVPN tun module, mounting of Windows shares and NFS network volumes, iptables filtering for firewalling and has tweaks that do bring better performance (for example the CPU governor)... Guest yabolek Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 There is still a real problem in 3.2.5: I'm using Y5 Power Saver. It turns off my WiFi automatically, when I'm away from home and switch it on, when I come back home again. I've tried that for a few days and had a look at this. There are problems with switching off WiFi! If Y5 want to pull it off, it hangs in "turning off" Same by switching to airplane mode. So it could be, that the Hero with this rom tooks at night in airplane mode 30 % off battery!! Same today at work. 2 Hours are 20%. Then I take a look to settings and at WiFi is "turning off" for hours. Only a restart helps. Paul, thats a bug, please have a look on it. I'm using Y5 saver with 3.2b5 and didnt experience the problems described so I would guess its not a bug.
Guest cs853 Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) Hello Paul, Thanks for your rom. I just updated my HTC hero with MODACO 2.8 (chinese supported) and have some questions on A2SD. I used the RA-HERO-1.5.2 to partition my sd card (8G, Class 6) but after the my app and also "move apps+dalv to SD", but all apps still very fine without the SD card, just that the voice search crashed when without SD card. Is it enough that I use the function of the recovery to partition my SD card or I need to do it manually like the link in "how-to-manually-partition-your-sd-card-for-android-apps2sd" ?? Or is there something that I have to do after partitioning my SD, (eg, setting? mount??). Thanks a lot!! :) Your work is so great ps. do it need to partition EXT3, EXT4? what's the propose of them? Are you saying that your phone hangs when Y5 is trying to turn off the Wi-Fi when not near any of your remembered networks? I ask because I use Y5 all the time without any such problems
Guest Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Hi not too sure what problems you are experiencing. Are you saying that your phone hangs when Y5 is trying to turn off the Wi-Fi when not near any of your remembered networks? I ask because I use Y5 all the time without any such problems I've had this problem. I don't think it's anything to do with Y5 (or even know what it is). What he's describing is the Wi-Fi not turning off properly. When this happens it's trying to turn off and cannot be turned back on, it stays in this state until the handset is rebooted. The only way to get back normal use of the phone is to restart.

I will also try disabling Y5 altogether to see if that is still an issue. :) EDIT: OK back I must say as before had no problems with my Y5 or Wi-Fi connection. Once out of range, Wi-Fi switched off altogether and returned once and only once in range. I did not experience the issues that had been raised with Wi-Fi trying to turn off. Not a ROM issue as I can see, have you tried un-installing, rebooting and then re-installing Y5 B) Edited January 25, 2010 by masterpfa

I'm not sure what conditions create it and so can't recreate it. I haven't experienced it in this ROM (3.2.5) Edited January 25, 2010 by Guest

LOL I pretty much asked the same questions before. You need to partition them. Use ext4, don't use swap - rest fat32. Use this guide: How to manually partition your SD card for Android Apps2SD – Android and Me http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-t...ndroid-apps2sd/
