Guest teknologist Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 As already mentioned its this one im talking about http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622666 I configured the parameters as "1536,2048,4096,8960,8960,10240" which works very smoothly for me. Would be very nice to have it baked in kernel, since this fix wont survive a reboot. you could add it to /system/init.d/teknologist.sh to make it survive a reboot...
Guest Trekster2000 Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 I've used a similar setup and the amount of ram that i've chosen to have free is about 50mb which seems to do wonders for the phone..! I wish they would throw more ram at the HTC Bravo...512MB as the Nexus would be great!
Guest keyra74 Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Looks very interesting, i'll drop it into the kitchen so we can have a try! P tried that and it made my phone evern slugger than compcache
Guest D I Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) tried that and it made my phone evern slugger than compcache I haven't tried this modification, but just want to say that there is a very noticeable difference between having compache and disabling it in the 3.2 Beta. I have compcache disabled in the last couple of days, and I no longer have slowdowns when starting apps. Paul, perhaps you should make this the default in the kitchen options? Great work and loving the discussions in this thread. Edited January 26, 2010 by D I
Guest jjjack Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 you could add it to /system/init.d/teknologist.sh to make it survive a reboot... That's where I've got it and working fine.

Guest trstn Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 To be clear, disabling comp cache is speeding up your handset? I thought using comp cache was supposed to speed things up?
Guest teknologist Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) To be clear, disabling comp cache is speeding up your handset? I thought using comp cache was supposed to speed things up? Well, for me (and many others reporting on modaco) it did in earlier ROMs (AFAIK prior to 3.1) but in the latest there seem to be something weird going on between compcache and the OS and disabling compcache definitely makes the phone faster. Anyway 3.2b is a beast. really fast...wonder how Paul optimized it that far... ;-) Also it seems it has made my battery life way way better ! Talking about 48Hrs+. BTW, I am getting my NexusOne on Feb 4th...can't wait ! There seem to be many things going on in the dev community around NexusOne! Lovin' it already ! ;-) Edited January 26, 2010 by teknologist
Guest bludhemn Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Thank you. I had the 2.9 before on my Hero, which works like a charm. Going to try this one straight away. :)
Guest trstn Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Crikey, you weren't kidding. LOADS faster.

Guest Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Adb shell or terminal and type: "free" if there are 0's out of the SWAP column you'r good to go In or Out of the SWAP column? My zeros are in the SWAP column.
Guest Trekster2000 Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 In or Out of the SWAP column? My zeros are in the SWAP column. Yes, that means you'r good to go... It should say: total used free mem: x x x Swap: 0 0 0 total: x x x

Guest matokt Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Paul, when will you be updating the kitchen with the internal taskkiller feauture?
Guest soopahfly Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 I re-downloaded without compcache, complete and utter wipe and repartitioned the SD card without a swap partition. It's nice and fast. Instant response to menu scrolling and home screen changing. Thanks.
Guest stalins Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Just baked my ROM, and I must say that you've done a great job on this one. Fast, no lag and batterytime is great. Just love it. Can't thank you enough! :)
