Guest masterpfa Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) you could add it to /system/init.d/teknologist.sh to make it survive a reboot... EDIT: I tried the following commands. adb remount adb pull /system/init.d/teknologist.sh . teknologist.sh . Added echo "1536,3072,4096,21000,23000,25000" > /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree as a new separate line adb push teknologist.sh /system/init.d/ EDIT: Done not sure how :) ended up amending file which I had pushed back to the /system/init.d/teknologist.sh via ES file Manager but now survives a reboot. A worthwhile addition to any ROM IMHO had this on my phone yesterday sat at 51% before I went to sleep, checked it 5 hrs later 48% remaining Will have to see how it fares long term to see if there are any other trade off's. Guest Dark Riderz Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) My battery seems to be running fine. Better than it ever has been to be honest. When you wiped, did you do a complete wipe including the dalvik cache just to make sure it was completely fresh? And try partitioning your card whilst you're there too. This should ensure a completely fresh install without any extraneous code lying around anywhere. Then try a flash and run it as a basic install for a while and observe the battery usage before adding applications. I also stopped using taskillers way back once Paul started making custom ROMs as i don't feel they are needed. Try without and see how you go. I've done all that bro... I even partitioned again and clear dalvik cache etc.... Went with generic rooted rom 2.73.405.66 for a week... The battery issue is gone but it is not as speedy and snappy as 3.1... Re partitioned again and wiped and reinstall 3.1... Hero now very quick... install only facebook and and the battery goes down again rapidly... Has to use task killers every hour to keep the phone going... :) didn't have these issues on 3.0 though... Edited January 27, 2010 by Dark Riderz
Guest D I Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) On the browser I've noticed a problem with sites that show embedded Flash content, and I'm not sure if it's because of the ROM. If I go to a site with Flash (eg. any of those Flash game sites), then, instead of showing the hour glass or the 'rejected' icon, it sometimes will show a mess of green+blue+red or else the proper icon but in green. Any ideas how this happened? Edited January 27, 2010 by D I
Guest dkodr Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 3 issues with MCR 3.2b5 that I noticed: I can only choose English for keyboard input - no Polish (that's after wipe)I can't add multiple recipients at a time while composing an MMS message - I have to add one person, then scroll down and up again to add another one; otherwise "Invalid recipient(s)"Mobile network connection keeps turning on by itself
Guest Pitel Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Mobile network connection keeps turning on by itself I have this problem too... even when wifi is turned on, mobile data icon flashes on the top bar for a few seconds sometimes.
Guest stalins Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Just wondered if anyone got issues using marketenabler with the MoDaCo 3.2 beta 5? One I try to enable any of the fake settings, the phone reboots by itself. Running MoDaCo 3.1 there was no problems using this app

Hope it works out for you! =) but i dont know about the other issues you´ve got. never noticed that myself. Best regards//
Guest black_teddybear Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Oh forgot to say one thing! Paul I love your ROMs!! They are so damn good their is no word to describe it!! Bought the adfree membership just last night! =) Keep up your good work! and i shall always stay as a paid member =D
Guest dr_ysp Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) Kitchen moved to new dedicated server. MoDaCo Plus / Ad Free members, you make this possible. Thank you! :) P hi paul i get an error as "server not found" Edit: sorry sorted after clearing cache!! Edited January 27, 2010 by dr_ysp
Guest dkodr Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) Or use morelocale... P There's just one problem with that - I want to keep the English interface and be able to use Polish keyboard at the same time; and that AFAIK cannot be achieved with MoreLocale. Edited January 27, 2010 by dkodr
Guest Catscrash Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 had the problem that wifi won't turn off today for the first time... reboot fixed it though...

Guest ChinaRon Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 For Chinese, Paul's beta works, but a more complete answer is in this other post: step-by-step-from-modaco-3-1-to-modaco-3-1-chinese which provides both the HTC CIME and allows searching with Simplified Chinese. I would still like to fine a version of the HTC CIME that supported both handwriting and pinyin. I had this in a locked ROM, but did not do a nandroid save it after I rooted the phone. (Dumb me!)
Guest Incomer Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 maybe a idea to add a receipt to the zip file(for example receipt.txt in the root of the zip file) where you can read what you have choose :)
Guest Tuomo Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Hi, just rooted my Hero yesterday and now installed MoDaCo 3.2 Beta. It seems that the "Use only 2g network" option in mobile network settings is gone. Don't remember if it was ther with 3.1 as I only had it for a short while. Is this a "feature"? I usually enable this checkbox when I get home as the 3G coverage is quite bad where I live and it drains the battery as it keeps jumping between 2G/3G. Is there any way to go manually switch to 2G network anymore? I have the newest radio rom installed (63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26). Appreciate any help, and keep up the good work.
Guest HellSt0rm Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 I have been using the modified memory managment trick now for a full 24hour now. Wrote the code in to the file: /system/init.d/teknologist.sh And using the following code: echo "1536,3072,4096,21000,23000,25000" > /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree Procedure: - Copied the teknologist.sh from /system/init.d/ to the sdcard with "root explorer" - Edit teknologist.sh with "text edit" - Copied the teknologist.sh from the sdcard to /system/init.d/ with "root explorer" I can confirm that not only does the phone feel more responsive, I also feel that the battery usage has gone down too. As a result I have uninstalled my taskkiller app and just left Android manage it on it's own. Sidenote: The compcache has been disabled and I have been using the phone without app2sd, this is because I don't have so many apps and a slow sd card. My hero went from slow (stock rom) to flying (mcr3.2beta5 rom with memory trick)

My ability to use Command Prompt sucks

My ability to use Command Prompt sucks If you see the procedure I used. I only used too apps that are on the marketplace. The root explorer, but I think astro and/or estrong fileexplorer can copy the file also. copied the file to the sdcard. Here u can use an app such as text edit. Or you can mount your hero with usb and use a text program such as notepad on your computer. Unmount your hero if you did so. And then move the file back to it's original place. Easy and no command prompt. Edited January 27, 2010 by HellSt0rm

I'll look back through the posts to see what I have to edit in that file. (Unless anyone wants to post it so I don't make a mistake LOL) Thanks

Guest Paul Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Anyone had a negative experience with the taskkiller tweak? Sounds like a goer for the main ROM? P

(Unless anyone wants to post it so I don't make a mistake LOL) Thanks yes, it will work with apps2sd. :) Just add this line in to the file: echo "1536,3072,4096,21000,23000,25000" > /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree The file is located in /system/init.d named teknologist.sh or ramzwap.sh (depending on your rom) I use the teknologist.sh file because I am on the 3.2 beta 5 rom, and don't have the ramzswap.sh file. to read more about the subject and the significance of the numbers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622666 I will advice to not use random numbers on each place. Because this way of doing it, will make the settings stick on each reboot. So if you set numbers very wrong, you can end up with android killing apps all the time, even if they are in use. So be very very careful and don't set them wrong. PS: a reflash of the rom will remove the settings in that file. Hopefully. Edited January 27, 2010 by HellSt0rm
Guest byakkotai Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 So my Teknologist.sh file now reads (without the speech marks) "/system/xbin/insmod /system/lib/modules/tun.ko echo "performance" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor echo "1536,3072,4096,21000,23000,25000" > /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree "
