Guest byakkotai Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 looks good. if the file is in correct folder, you only have to excute the script or reboot the phone. Great I'm going to keep the original on my PC and replace it on the Hero with this. I'll then reboot.
Guest HellSt0rm Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 I have also a copy of the original. If something goes wrong I have the possibility to push the original back to the phone with ADB. Be sure to not use any taskkiller while testing. (you actually to don't need a taskkiller anymore :) ) Because then you will really feel how this tweak works out for you. Good luck and give a response on how it goes.
Guest stalins Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 I had no problem with ME using 3.2beta5 At first I didn't either, but the 5th time I tried, the problems started. Maybe I'll just re-flash it and try again.
Guest byakkotai Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Hmmm. Struggling to replace the original Teknologist.sh file on the phone. Advice?
Guest HellSt0rm Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) Also struggling.. :) ops, my mistake. It is important that you have read/write permissions to the /system/init.d/ folder when you are replacing the file. That's the main reason I use Root Explorer it's a paid app. but I think I have seen a non-paid app somewhere that could to the same. Such as Astro File Manager or Estrong File Explorer. I shall check it at once. Edited January 27, 2010 by HellSt0rm
Guest HellSt0rm Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) I have checked. Astro can't do it. But Estrong File Explorer can. Settings -> Root Explorer Choose Cyanogen Mod Then choose "mount file system" as read/write under settings. Go back to file explorer, move file from sdcard to /system/init.d I don't know how good the support is for MoDaCo, but I just tested it on my phone and it worked. So do it on your own risk goes for all this. Only one thing. After you are finished make sure that you turn of read/write and root explorer. So you are sure nobody else or you can brick your phone up. Edited January 27, 2010 by HellSt0rm

Guest PhonePersona Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 I used ADB to do this process and successfully updated tecknologist.sh, but I still can't seem to change the 'minfree' file. I rebooted and did a cat and the old memory settings are still displayed. Help!
Guest HellSt0rm Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 make sure that you have written the command correctly. Might be the problem. echo "1536,3072,4096,21000,23000,25000" > /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree
Guest Naruc Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Just wondered if anyone got issues using marketenabler with the MoDaCo 3.2 beta 5? One I try to enable any of the fake settings, the phone reboots by itself. Running MoDaCo 3.1 there was no problems using this app I am using marketEnabler, no problems for me, I had that issue earlier on MCR 3.0 after a wipe it was solved

Have been using gscript lite and a script i found to do the same. Did not have trouble for a while, but then it happend again. After a couple of manual reboots (instead of the ME or gscript reboot) it worked again.

Does MCR 3.1 contains the teknologist.sh? I do not find it.
Guest HellSt0rm Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Does MCR 3.1 contains the teknologist.sh? I do not find it. No. MCR 3.1 has the ramzswap.sh file. You can use that one instead.
Guest denvro Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Added the taskkiller tweak yesterday. It's ubelievable how fast and responive it makes my Hero. I really love it. And than the battery usage. In 24 hours I only los 30 percent of my battery power. This is awesome. My free memory is constantly between 70 and 80 MB. I say this is a must have in the main ROM.

I agree, this is incredible and must be included in the rom!:-)
Guest btnelson Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 MCR 3.2 Beta 5 has been the most stable ROM I've tried to date. Only problem is that the "2G Only" option is no longer available in the Mobile Network Settings. So I can't connect to 3G which is not a disaster, but annoying nonetheless. On a separate note, and maybe unrelated to MCR 3.2 Beta 5 specifically, I notice that the phone's track ball start flashing and the phone has other activity (like back-light turning on) quite a long time before it starts vibrating, ringing and displaying the incoming call notification. Maybe a full 2 rings (as measured from the caller's phone and start of phone activity) before everything is ready to press answer button. Anyone else notice this? If helpful, I will take a video of it to demonstrate.
Guest AlThePost Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Anyone had a negative experience with the taskkiller tweak?P None at all, but my parameters are a more conservative "1536,2048,4096,8192,15360,23040" for now. Free memory remains around the 40MB mark. I'll tinker with it over time and find the "sweet spot" but right now this, Teknologist's 1.92 kernal and 3.2b5 is a dream to use. :)
Guest Paul Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 I'm gonna port some more 2.1 UI elements over to give a 'white notification bar' option (and other bits) for the next Beta (later this week). P

P Brilliant. Cannot wait for 2.1 to release. So tired of 1.5, I just want something new
Guest masterpfa Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Anyone had a negative experience with the taskkiller tweak? Sounds like a goer for the main ROM? P None at all, I no longer need to use any 3rd party task/process killer at all. Phone runs smooth and battery seems to have improved somewhat. Phone is awesome tool now. This would be a welcome addition to your ROM :)
Guest Se7enair Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 On xda-dev they tell something about # Make it executable again: # adb shell chmod a+x /system/init.d/ramzswap.sh when doing the lowmemorykiller-mod is this neccessary? if i do that i cant undo this....
