Guest kookix Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Finally upgrade from 3.1 to latest 3.2 without issue. adb shell cat /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree show me the magical number, so taskkiller tweak is working for me.
Guest Marcony0 Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Paul, I think the taskkillerfix isnt working in kitchen. Just made an upgrade and the cat showed stocknumbers. Had to manually edit the teknologist.sh Because it's not included in 3.2 beta 5 :) you got to do it yourself, anyone can even on 3.1.
Guest matokt Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Because it's not included in 3.2 beta 5 :) you got to do it yourself, anyone can even on 3.1. isnt it? whats the option about taskkiller in the kitchen?
Guest kookix Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 (edited) @Marcony0 Look at the kitchen Paul updated it ^^ What's the difference between the option Connect Only on 2G and deactivate the mobile network ? Edited January 28, 2010 by kookix
Guest Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 (edited) The former will force 2g (disable 3g to save battery) whilst the latter will disable mobile network completely. Edited January 28, 2010 by Guest
Guest Paul Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Can anyone confirm the taskiller kitchen option is working OK for them? P
Guest Fran80 Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Can anyone confirm the taskiller kitchen option is working OK for them? P It's working for me.
Guest hovelsj Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 I installed the kitchen ROM with both "task killer adjustment" and "disable compcache" checked. I haven't experienced anything unusual so far. I'll let you know if something come up.
Guest kosmiq Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 It works for me. Only thing ive done is to choose english/swedish, and it worked out of the box :) Didnt know there was an issue with that, never experienced any problem at all. No swedish for me now. This is what I did: * Wiped phone through Recovery image. * Reformatted SD-card with new partitions. * Installed my newly baked 3.5b2 with the task-tweak. * Rebooted, ran setup and all I could choose from was english. * Installed More Locale 2 and I can set the system to be "English (Swedish)" but the only option I have for keyboard input is still English. * tested More Locale settings and if I set the phone to English (Swedish) it gives me English interface and english wordlist. If I use Swedish (Swedish) I get Swedish interface with Swedish wordlist. * Tested with installing 3.1 (baked) on top of the 3.2b5 but no luck with any other languages than english. * Wipe again and installed 3.1 full (not baked, the full version instead that was RC2 released as Final) * Ran setup with this 3.1 version and lo-and-behold. English (Swedish), Swedish (Swedish) etc available. Noticed however that only English and nordic languages are included here. * Rebooted into recovery and applied my baked 3.2b5 on top of the now configured 3.1 without wipe. * All is good again. Conclusion: 3.1 is probably based on a nordic ROM, therefore english and nordic languages. 3.2 is based on UK Three ROM. Therefore only english. The thought with always using the latest and "greatest" is as good as always. However we clearly see a problem here with languages for people with other native languages then english. I have no idea how far back one must go to get languages like polish, arabic and god knows what else. More Locale can help if you want the entire interface plus the textcorrection in your native language. However if want the interface in english and text etc in your native language you are probably s*** out of luck unless you do like above.
Guest dkodr Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Isn't there an option for English (Polish) or something like that? It is for swedish at least! Yes, there is, but it still sets the keyboard for English :)
Guest masterpfa Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Can anyone confirm the taskiller kitchen option is working OK for them? P Hi Paul just baked a ROM Selected No compcache and taskkiller. Checked after booting and these are now set at the values you implemented I had different values set for taskkiller when I edited the /system/init.d/ file plus no compcache, before, but flashed the new ROM so can confirm it does work. :)
Guest masterpfa Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 I second that. I have also a pretty brown Hero. A white notification bar would be awful ... I'm sure the word "Option" was used.

Guest rehet Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Hye guys... Is it just me or.... After flashing rom MCR 3.2 beta (with wipe and repartition my SD) + mem tweak and compcached disabled. Pictures that i downloaded off the internet / via App could not be access through "ALBUM" or "ESTRONG file manager". In ESTRONG file manager, the picture file is there but could not be open to view.. But when I reeboted the phone, then only i can access my downloaded pics via "ALBUM" and "ESTRONG". I have reflashed the ROM, and the same thing still... Is it my own stupidness, or is it a bug, or is it because of the mem tweak ??
Guest Tuomo Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Baked a new rom yesterday with compcache disabled and with the taskkiller tweak. At first my Hero seemed to be flying but started to slow down after a while. Tried to clear dalvik cache but got an error that it is not possible, so I cleared it with adb. Booted and now it seems to work okay. Have to run it for a while and see if it really is ok. Only thing is that it boots REALLY slowly, even after a few boots. And also Handcent SMS started FCing after update.

Able to view picture via albums and Astro and ES File Explorer (EStrong) that I had downloaded of the internet. Do you mean pictures downloaded directly via your phone or using a PC/Mac and then transferred?
Guest masterpfa Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 (edited) Been running MCCR 3.2B5 with CC disabled and Taskkiller in one form or another for more than 48hrs now absolutely no problems! Looking forward to Beta 6 or 3.2 Final Paul :) Edited January 29, 2010 by masterpfa
Guest kosmiq Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Another thing to mention regarding baked ROMs and languages. A baked 3.1 ROM only seem to include english (unless I have to wipe to fix the issue) while the full 3.1 ROM does include nordic languages.

Same for me, came from 3.1 and did a complete wipe befor installing 3.2 and I have no swedish.. installed morelocale 2 and now i have swedish.
Guest townsejl Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Hi, I was just wondering - if I install the MCR Rom after doing a wipe, but don't actually do the partitioning of the SD card (that is, just format it outside of the phone as a standard microSD card/FAT32) will APPS2SD recognise this and effectively turn itself off or will the rom baulk at the fact there is no ext partition and just not boot? Cheers, Jamie.

Only thing ive done is to choose english/swedish, and it worked out of the box :) Didnt know there was an issue with that, never experienced any problem at all. That's odd! Can it be that I did a complete wipe before installing the beta? Not really happy needing to use swedish-language everywhere just too get the swedish dictionary B)
Guest kosmiq Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 That's odd! Can it be that I did a complete wipe before installing the beta? Not really happy needing to use swedish-language everywhere just too get the swedish dictionary :) Yeah I felt the same. My solution to this was to first install the FULL 3.1 (not baked), run the setup with that and set English with swedish dictionary. After that I flashed the newly baked 3.2b5 on top of that. Voila, swedish is there! Also did a complete wipe before I installed baked roms first and noticed that they only include english.
Guest Formel-LMS Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 All ROMs up to 3.1 have all Languages included. MoDaCo 3.2 is only english. It's because of the ROM for "3" ownres. It is only English. If you did a wipe before Iinstalling 3.2 you loose these languages. don't wipe before installinf this! Or: 1. Wipe 2. Install MCR 3.1 and run the first process (login, Gmail Account, Language...) 3. Reboot 4. Install 3.2 ready. Now you have a clean 3.2 ROM with your preferred language.
