After trying a few 2.1 roms, I went back to this one with a fresh install. However I cannot select any language other than english? I have always had the oppertunity of selecting danish, both for the ui and for htc_ime. How can I get it back to danish? I am running 3.2b5.

Edit: Sry, wrong place. I will post it in the proper thread.

Try installing "Scandinavian keyboard" from Android Market.

I thought of that, but that won't give me danish ui, and I never had to use that before.

I see. You could try to wipe and install the original ROM from HTC. Then you can install the Modaco ROM without wiping.

This ROM is amazing - I got my Hero back in December, and was reasonably disappointed with how sluggish it was... Managed to get this ROM installed last night, it wasn't too hard :), and I am literally amazed at how good it is. Thanks for all the hard work in getting this out, and I look forward to future releases and contributing to the effort in some way!

I did sort of that now, I installed MCR 3.1 and then upgraded to 3.2b5. Got my language now.

Hi Paul,

I am from India (Mumbai). I had bought HTC Hero recently about a month back. It came pre-installed with MoDaCo 2.8 ROM I guess this was rooted. With serial number I had found out that this handset was originally ‘Orange UK’. After few days of fiddling around, I upgrade this to 3.0. and now 3.1. I must say this is very good and responsive ROM. However I have some queries/problems.

1. I live in Mumbai city. The weather widget on home screen always shows ‘Current city’ and never Mumbai. Also it always show Dreary, when it’s bright sunlight out here. But I had added Mumbai city in weather and it shows Sunny (NOT on Home Screen).

2. In time zone I had to select India-Kolkata. There is no option of any other city here. At least 4 major cities should be an available.

Please let me know how to resolve this.

Thanks :)

There is a similar problem in this thread, the international bits are not a part of 3.2b5. You need to wait and see if they will be included later or do an upgrade from 3.1.

I have some quistions I hope you wil answer (:

1) How much faster is this rom to the original?

2) What is the chances of bricking the phone?

3) What does NOT work on this rom? (if there is anything...)

I've just Nandroid-ed back to a Compcache Disabled 3.2.5 WITHOUT Taskiller tweak.

For me it's quicker. Will see how it is in a few days but I remember immediately thinking that the Taskiller tweaked ROM was a bit slower for me when I flashed it the first time.

Edit: I Think I was talking rubbish there...

Silverstream, is USB debugging enabled?

SetCPU OK here.

Ha .. I specifically disable "USB debugging" earlier and not knowing it's the cause of the problem!

Working perfectly now !

THANKS Paul !

Hi Paul,

After even the Technologist mentioned that lagg might disappear in a rom without compcache, I gave it a go.

I've been running the rom atleast for 4 days, and I experience no lagg at all. Even when it wakes up. Two tumbs up from my!

I've got a request to include the following app to add some flavor to in the cooking recipe.

http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...o-phone-portal/

As you might know, you can manage via wifi or usb your HTC hero by a webportal.

You can even send sms messages.

I hope you will include this as a cooking option.

With kind regards,

Lenslarque

Sounds nice! :)

Im allmost ready to root but i was thinking.

Would I be better of wiping it before loading the rom (im running the new HTC rom)? And will I be able to get my Danish T9 through a app?

And the last thing, What do you think about theunlockr way? Sould I just do that?

@Paul; great work! Awesome. My first custom rom. I can't belive how fast the Hero could be. Everything is working so far, but i have one question. Why the HTC weather clock doesn't find my location. I could search via map for my location and save it, but the weather clock doesn't locate automatically my location. It's not a big problem, when its normal. When not, it would be nice when someone could tell me how to activate this feature :)

thanks ahead

Your phone is not bricked. Unless you flash the SPL you can't brick the phone.

Things to try...

- Go to recovery, wipe, then reapply the ROM

or

- Connect your phone in recovery to your PC, and do 'adb shell' then 'nandroid-mobile.sh restore'

or

- Put the phone in bootloader (power on with back button) and run the original update

or

- Use one of the stock ROMs stickied in this post.

I could go on... :)

It referrer checks you are coming from MoDaCo. Try a different browser, try right-click save as, check you're not running 'noscript'... :)

Heh, during my browsing and my wife using my laptop, I ended up on the GSM page. I kept reading not realizing it and tried installing the wrong version. It wasn't quite "bricked" since it worked. I wasn't too worried, just didn't know what I did. Right after I posted, I read the topic and it hit me. I baked the correct version, flashed it and am back in business. Thanks for the fast reply with the suggestions. Good to know that I can flash the original RUU from the booloader tho.
