Guest nicandris Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 before paying to upgrade. does this rom have obex support?
Guest Lenslarque Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Hi Paul, After even the Technologist mentioned that lagg might disappear in a rom without compcache, I gave it a go. I've been running the rom atleast for 4 days, and I experience no lagg at all. Even when it wakes up. Two tumbs up from me! I've got a request to include the following app to add some flavor to in the cooking recipe. http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...o-phone-portal/ As you might know, you can manage via wifi or usb your HTC hero by a webportal. You can even send sms messages. I hope you will include this as a cooking option. With kind regards, Lenslarque
Guest mifran Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) The one I mentioned several posts earlier today, with the two screenshots :) (Post #668) I wonder if it has to do with the combination of items I chose in the kitchen. I didn't choose Footprints, Mail, Java or Peep, among others. EDIT: The problem also happens if you install the ROM with all the defaults options in the kitchen. I have wiped my phone before flashing it. I'm surprised nobody else has seen this or reported it. I did a Nandroid restore of a shipped ROM and it is fine. To reproduce the problem, use the Hero's Android browser to go to http://youtube.com or any site with Flash (turn off Mobile View in the browser settings, so that you don't get the mobile version of youtube), then select a video - and then look for the 'loading' icon. Instead of a white icon, you'll see some fuzzy graphics, like in the screenshots. Otherwise, this is an awesome ROM and I am glad I paid for the chance to use it!! ok i have reproduced your problem when following a tweet to jasonbradbury's dotrobot site it froze and i had the hour glass thingy had to reboot the phone to get out of the freeze EDIT further to this problem if you hold on the green circle with diagonal stripe it says this content cannot be played on this device this is on the suzi perry ideal home show video i would say now that it would seem that it is a flash player incompatibility so paul how can this flash player be cured EDIT it also crashes the browser and the phone needs to be rebooted before you can use the browser again mifran Edited February 2, 2010 by mifran
Guest Smallguy17 Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) Okay, im now rooted and running modaco! Nice! But how to I get the apps like for eksample the "setcpu" you just talked about? isent there some kind of trick? Market enabler? Edited February 1, 2010 by Smallguy17
Guest conzy Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 It referrer checks you are coming from MoDaCo. Try a different browser, try right-click save as, check you're not running 'noscript'... :) P Doesnt work on Chrome or IE on my machine but works perfect in both on my girlfriend's machine! So problem is on my end B) sorry!
Guest dannychrist Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) Hello, I think your work is great, but I have to test it first. I just bought my HTC Hero 1 day ago, and i really have no idea how to do the backup and wipe and a Nandroid restore. Where do I get the update tool?? Is there somewhere a manual for updating adnroid for newcomers. BTW this MoDaCo Custom ROM is based on Android 2.1???? Edited February 2, 2010 by dannychrist
Guest kareem613 Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I'm having trouble with this latest rom. Its the first time in a while a do a full wipe. On first boot going through the setup wizard, I can't get data connection working. There's no chance to setup wifi and when I enter my APN settings for Fido, it still can't connect. I'm using the exact same settings that work in my last bunch of roms. A nandroid restore and I'm back up and running with data. Any ideas?
Guest Silverstream Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Ha .. I specifically disable "USB debugging" earlier and not knowing it's the cause of the problem! Working perfectly now ! THANKS Paul ! Paul, which works better with your ROM ? SetCPU or OverclockWidget ? It seems that your Rom is already running at 527Mhz .... do I even need either of them ?

Danny, If you want to install an MDC custom ROM without donating, choose the stable 3.1 release (both are based on Android 1.5 btw). I installed v3.1 a week ago and am very happy with it! A beginner myself, I found this guide to be very helpful. Edited February 2, 2010 by raymond2_nl
Guest patts Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 My first baked rom. And it's fast man! Realy fast! Money well spent! Keep up the good work Paul!
Guest hovelsj Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 hi paul i am trying disable compcache, stock kernel & minfree tweak i dont know after 2 days of use phone has become sluggish again. dont know if anybody experienced same!! will report again after 2 days of use & i have a2sd enabled!! is it the cause of sluggishness!! Edit: boot up was fast programs are fast so far so good will continue monitoring I have used beta 5 for a few days (at least more than two) and its still smooth and fast.
Guest Pitel Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) I have used beta 5 for a few days (at least more than two) and its still smooth and fast. My uptime is about 120 hours (5 days) and it's too still smooth and fast. Without compcache, with taskkiller tweak. Big up, Paul! Edited February 2, 2010 by Pitel
Guest Lenslarque Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Hi Paul, I've found an app in the market ppace named Tapatalk. With it you can read and answer your favorite forum. I couldn't find the MoDaCo forum. I think a plug in needs to be present in the forum. Could you be so kind to look into it? So we can read/post the forum from the hero?
Guest targetal Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 been sitting on the MCR2.6 since October, thus was considering an update to 3.1. anyone willing to put some words backing up the upgrade process from 2.6 to 3.1 ? is it that considerably better than 2.6 ? :)
Guest HellSt0rm Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Same as Pitel... Long uptime and no lag or trouble :)
Guest kosmiq Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I think the internal taskkiller tweak is to tightly set for me. Sometimes when alarm go off, I reviece a call or other things that go on top I they sometimes disappear. The alarm is still sounding off, the phone is ringing but the slider that goes on top of the lockscreen is not there. Started happening after installing 3.2b5. Tweaked the teknologist.sh a little earlier today and will report back if it gets better. Set so that the memory can be lower before it starts killing of in the two last categories. Set teknologist.sh to 1536,2048,4096,5120,12800,20480.
Guest cortiis Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Finally got HTC hero in White. It was available in my country but just in brown. I wanted a white one badly and waited for 3 months for HTC to launch it in white. I am a new one for android and have been on symbian for the last 6-8 years. Plan to root my Hero right away. I have the following specs: 1) Model number: HTC Hero 2) Firmware version: 1.5 3) Baseband version: 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18 4) Kernel version: 2.6.27-8dd6deee htc-kernel@and18-2 5) Build number: 2.73.720.5 146733 CL#61267 release-keys 6) Software version: 1.0.0.A6288 Question: Should I go for the latest ROM 2.73.x release series (currently 2.73.405.66 together with Paul's optimizations)? I mean, would it be of use as my current installation is a higher version.
Guest Paul Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Your current version is old, .5. The 707 is the region ID. P
Guest tongcc8 Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Paul, after flashed 3.2, found strange char while 'adb shell' and using 'ls' command on my Hero. After typing the below: alias ls='ls --color=none' The display became normal.
Guest cortiis Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) Hey Paul, That was real quick. OK, you mean 720 (you seem to have misquoted it as 707) in my case is the region code and .5 is the version number which is no doubt lower than yours(.66). If this is the case I am all set to be busy tonight. Thanks a ton bro. Edited February 2, 2010 by cortiis

Guest werpu Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Ok Paul, generally the rom is working fone for me, but what I am missing is the 2g/3g switch in the settings it used to be there in 3.1 now it is gone (actually since beta1) But besides that I love it.
