ok i have reproduced your problem when following a tweet to jasonbradbury's dotrobot site it froze and i had the hour glass thingy had to reboot the phone to get out of the freeze

EDIT further to this problem if you hold on the green circle with diagonal stripe it says this content cannot be played on this device this is on the suzi perry ideal home show video i would say now that it would seem that it is a flash player incompatibility so paul how can this flash player be cured

EDIT it also crashes the browser and the phone needs to be rebooted before you can use the browser again

mifran

just done wipe then install of a generic rom 2.73.405.66 rooted and the same problem with it not displaying the hour glass and then NO-ENTRY sign is displayed but as single white icon whereas in the 3.2b5 the NO-ENTRY sign is 2 side by side green icons and it still says content cannot be played on this device

Flash works on MCR the same way as it did on the shipped ROM; however if I restore the shipped ROM with Nandroid, the Flash hour glass and No Entry icons look normal (white).

Did you manually enter the pics or did you use an application to get them crossed with facebook ones? This is a know problem in that cross pics application (Facebook Sync for Android).

Paul answered the question about the missing 2g/3g on this page ;) . http://android.modaco.com/content-page/299...-beta/page/560/

That explains why (ROM is from "3"), but doesn't answer the basic question of whether it can be quickly reinstated?

Does the new ROM mentioned (official HTC release) have the 2G and 3G option in it, can the kitchen be based upon that?

Hi Paul,

I've found an app in the market ppace named Tapatalk. With it you can read and answer your favorite forum.

I couldn't find the MoDaCo forum. I think a plug in needs to be present in the forum.

Could you be so kind to look into it? So we can read/post the forum from the hero?

Hi,

Did not know abt this Tapatalk stuff

Giving it a try

Thanks for the hint :-)

Hé hé, replying to myself :-D

Looks nice and promissing but

- Logged on their site with my facebook account -> unable to use the same on the phone

- French forums are very few (found only 2 that were interesting to me)

- Even modaco is not there :-D

But keeping it, when getting more complete, I think I'll buy it

Users won't see too much adds anymore but guess it will lower ads revenue for forums ...

My english is not good but I will try to explain as good as I can.

I am using 3.2 beta 2 + taskiller - compcache and I am having issues with gtalk.

After one day or two, I have noticed I've received gtalk's notifications but it doesn't appear in conversation's windows.

I don't know what is the reason but if I close gtalk (from menu -> exit, instead of home button) and I open gtalk again, it works again.

I think the internal taskkiller tweak is to tightly set for me. Sometimes when alarm go off, I reviece a call or other things that go on top I they sometimes disappear. The alarm is still sounding off, the phone is ringing but the slider that goes on top of the lockscreen is not there. Started happening after installing 3.2b5. Tweaked the teknologist.sh a little earlier today and will report back if it gets better. Set so that the memory can be lower before it starts killing of in the two last categories.

Set teknologist.sh to 1536,2048,4096,5120,12800,20480.

I agree with this: if I read an interesting article in the browser, I often copy the url, and then scoot on over to Twidroid to tweet it.

When I switch back to browser, I've often lost the pages I had open because it was killed. It's very annoying when I have two or more windows open to lose my place in the articles I'm reading.

The manual task-killer was better for me in that sense, because I had control over when I wanted to kill the browser.

Maybe changing the task-killer values could fix this, because I like the general speediness that the task-killer brought.

I've also noticed that the HTC people widget has started reloading (the contacts disappear, then reappear) since applying the task-killer tweak.

My $0.02

And while I'm here, what's the advantage of having more free RAM? Isn't free RAM wasted RAM?

Aren't we better off having as little free RAM as possible? I understand that with more apps loaded in RAM, it's more likely that the CPU will be under stress (causing slow-down), but isn't having more than 50MB free just wasteful?

Or is there more to this?

Cheers.

So what u r saying is that I should use the built in software to add pics for my contacts and not the facebook sync?

After a no-wipe install over MCR 3.1, I had problems with HTC Sync so I did a wipe and re-flashed. After this, I have two applications which use the "private" mode and both of their icons are gone - replaced with a generic icon of a page with a gear. I have tried un-installing and re-installing but it does not fix the problem. Other posts about a similar problem say to clear the /data/boot-cache/ directory, but that does not exist in 3.2beta5. Is this a known problem?

Well I did notice a significant increase of performance with the tweak. I think the fact that applications get killed before the memory is full make the process faster or something like that.

For the record I am getting a much better experience with my phone since changing to the above mentioned values. I am, however, thinking about lowering them some more and then be done with it. Having apps killed at 80mb free RAM feels as a little overkill. Might settle at about 70mb for the last category instead of my current 80.

Hello,

On the market, search "Morelocale" app, then pick french after install...Should work.

Finaly I found a free second to try this 3.2 and I wonder about a few things:

1) Why there is only English language available on the list ? I know this is .73 based rom (UK ?) but it would be nice to provide more languages inside. I already tired 'More Locale' and it seems to work, but why not include full list by default ?

2) Same for timezone settings. Some countries are missing (for example Poland/Warsaw)

When I use that program, I can add the language to the phone, but the text input and dictionary stil is english, and its only english aviable on the phone as t9 or dictionary.. is there a way to get that in another language aswel?

Thanks

Facebook Sync for Android had a problem where the pics for the contcts wouldn't all match the intended (correct) contact. I've tried it and it was a mess; now I just download the pic and add it to the profile (manually).

HMM

There is an app on the market recently introduced called MemFreeManager, (which I must confess I haven't used yet, only because I am happy with my memfree settings!), that allows you to change these setting.

The details can be found over at xda developers here

paul the modaco roms definitely have a htcflash problem the generic roms display the hour glass and no entry signs as a correct symbol whereas your roms display these symbols as seperate split images the no-entry sign displays as 2 green no-entry signs and should be 1 white symbol

However neither your roms or the generic roms can play videos from The Independent news paper site
