Hi registered to try this out but for some reason it doesnt work properly. The roms from the kitchen install but when it loads to the main screen it keeps going back to the hero logo with the green alien thing waving. this has happened with all the roms i baked. The roms that arent from the kitchen work fine, any advice please?

Do wipe (facotry reset) and dalvik cache from recovery menu and than flash it again.

Are there any prerequisites for partitioning the SD card before i get on with loading the latest custom ROM 3.1? I mean do i need to do anything before hand with it before I start with loading the custom 3.1 ROM.

I think i read it somewhere that it is done automatically now. Is it true? I cannot recall where I read it.

Please help me with this so that I can get started.

Last I've read of paul is that he's looking into a 2.1 (?) ROM and extracting some more icons and other stuff that might be worth it. Be patient. 3.2b5 is pretty stable so why rush things.

He was looking into the update for the HTC Magic that has the latest Sense UI (still Android 1.5).

yay i finally managed to do it after a wipe and not only that but my apps2sd is finally working which i never got to work before, now going to see what the difference is, thank you.

Thank you Paul for all this aswell, i love exploring my hero and finding new features to fiddle around with!

Hi!

I want to try this new ROM, and I'd like to upgrade my radio as well (I'm having occasional "unavailable" issues). After renaming the update-hero-radio-63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26-signed.zip to update.zip and copying to SD card, going to recovery mode and performing update (after nandroid 2.2 backup), I got this:

Finding.... 

Opening. ...

Can't open /sdcard/update.zip (bad)

Tried it several times. I'm not sure what's going on, as I have previously (several months ago) upgraded radio and rom (to 2.73 from 1.x).

Tips appreciated. Thanks!

BTW, I did not format the SD card. Is that really necessary?

Wondering if some could help me. I have "cooked" up a rom 3 times today from 3 different computers with slightly different selections. I always have Googl Maps and Voice Search selected yet they never appear on my hero??

I came from Kagudroids 2.1 rom before this but really wanted speed. Everything seems OK and i get Wavesecure but not much else from the options.

Just dont know if i'm doing something wrong!!! ;)

Did you do a wipe before installing? I'm pretty sure you'll need to do a full wipe if coming from a 2.1 release. Worth a shot at least.

Don't forget to do a nandroid backup before-hand!

I selected wipe on my cyanogen recovery screen beforehand. What i dont get is that i get other things like teeter, wavesecure and footprints. If i deselect these then they always disappear but i just cant get maps and voice to appear!!

There is an app on the market recently introduced called MemFreeManager, (which I must confess I haven't used yet, only because I am happy with my memfree settings!), that allows you to change these setting.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before, but if you choose to cook in the Google Voice Search option, then in the browser the 'Open link in new window' option never appears when you hold down on a link. I uninstalled it and the option shows up now (after reboot).

Anyone want to confirm this on their phone with Google Voice Search installed?

Has anyone had any issues with data connection with this ROM?

I've been having issues with the mobile network connection not working, a data connection is available but everything times out (market gives a network error). Turning Airplane mode off/on or likewise for the mobile network seems to resolve it temporarily.

Anyone experienced similar?

Paul, any chance to look into adding languages from previous ROM's? MoreLocale is not an alternative for all of us.

With MoreLocale I can get localised dictionary IF I set the entire phone (including interface) to my own language. However that is not the desirable solution. I want the dictionary to be localised and the interface in English. I know there are more people than me that want it this way.

The solution as of now is to first flash a ROM with other languages included and then flash 3.2b5 on top of that. Thats what I had to do in order to get Swedish dictionary and English interface.

Another reason to look into this is the simple fact that more people than me has been asking in this thread about localised languages. Perhaps it is possible to add a choice to the kitchen for multilanguage. This option would then include the language-files from previous Hero ROM's for all other languages besides English. This would be a much better solution than MoreLocale since it gives the option to not have the entire interface in English.

Add the fact that whenever 3.2 is released as final I am s*** out of luck for my preferred setting unless I keep a copy of 3.1 myself.

Have you tried "Scandinavian Keyboard" the the companion "Swedish Dictionary" from market?

I have run 3.2b5 for a couple of weeks. Great ROM! Have noticed a few issues however and wonder if anyone else have noticed the same things:

- Wifi does not reliably reconnect to known wifi-access points

- When downloading or updating apps from market I get a "start download" message but nothing more. By rebooting the apps are instantly downloaded

- Market Enabler makes the phone reboot

Have not wiped the phone prior to upgrading. Run with disabled compcache and memory tweak. Everything else works quite well!

p.2-3 above works again without any action taken. Still have an issue with wifi not always reconnecting automatically when known access point is within range
