Guest Arthur Hucksake Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 I found an adb command on another thread and managed to have a look at the device and confirmed another partition did go down in size after installing an app. Phew!!! Another question, what happens if you decide you no longer wish to use A2SD anymore? Is it just a case of formatting the SD card and removing the partition?

Yes, although you would obviously lose all your apps too.
Guest markiehill Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 I am having a really odd problem with this rom and 3.1 , in that when the phone goes to sleep it kills the mobile signal. When I wake the phone up after a few seconds it gets the signal back , I am using a Vodafone SIM Any thoughts , totally stumped. Mark
Guest AlunJ Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 (edited) DO NOT wipe after! Google Maps (and some other optional apps) are stored in /data directory, and this directory is purged by wipe. Thanks!! working great now ;) stupid me - this rom is running amazingly well here! Guest Arthur Hucksake Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Yes, although you would obviously lose all your apps too. Aye, makes perfect sense. Just hope it doesn't leave any dodgy install information in the phones main memory. Like not being able to clean up the Manage Apps menu in settings.
Guest chan-hero Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Hi, when I use a MOBILE NETWORK, I cannot access my Google Mail (Gmail HTC) and even Yahoo accounts (HTC mail), and also cannot access the Market (The password isn’t valid / re-enter your password)! Guest dkodr Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 (edited) 1. Install MoreLocale2 from market... 2. Set it to your country and language (for me Portugal / Portuguese). You should get UI and dictionary in your language. 3. Connect your phone to your PC and type the following commands: adb shell echo en > /data/property/persist.sys.language reboot The phone will reboot and your UI should be set to EN (English) and your keyboard now with your "custom language". ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Just thought the above post should be emphasized, because the method described by lysin really works ;) Thanks a lot! Guest Arthur Hucksake Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Very impressed with 3.1 and itching to have a bash at 3.2 without compcache and with the built in taskkiller tweaks so i've subscribed. Great work!!!! Once this blasted battery charges back up, i'll give it a whirl.

Guest Neo+6210 Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Hi Paul, Just following this topic. Was wondering if you had sorted out the issue of 2G network (EDGE Data) connection? as in India we don't have 3G yet. Thanks
Guest CitizenLee Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 (edited) Hello folks, I've been using MCR ROMs since 1.5 and they always seem to be faster with each release, however I'm finding 3.1 to be painfully slow. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and it's got to the point where I'm thinking of reverting to 3.0 or a 2.X ROM as the lag is very annoying. No matter what I'm doing the phone always seem to take a few seconds to catch up. Any reason why this is the case and is there anything I can do to speed it up? Cheers, Lee Edited February 8, 2010 by CitizenLee
Guest Remington Steale Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Hi Paul, Just following this topic. Was wondering if you had sorted out the issue of 2G network (EDGE Data) connection? as in India we don't have 3G yet. Thanks Set it permanently on GSM only. Go to the phone pad and type *#*#4636#*#* You will then drop into the testing menu, choose Phone Information and scroll down to the first drop down menu. Change it from WCDMA preferred to GSM only. Will save battery too.
Guest Paul Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Where are you seeing this lag? In particular apps or in general? P
Guest MarioPlBe Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Hi Paul, I have just subscribed to AD free and cooked 3.2 Beta 5 ROM and I have to say I love it. Unfortunately I found one bug which is an issue for me. When you add a postal address to a contact and then you select “Find home” from People widget it starts Google Maps and then application immediately dies (FC). I tried 3.1 ROM and it was the same. I have also tried AychTeeSee-3.0.1 and Harmony 0.1. The last two worked fine, which means there is something wrong in MoDaCo 3.1 and 3.2 ROMs. Would you please check this one? BTW, Google Maps work just fine if you run application on its own and it does not help if you start GM before clicking “Find home” button. If you need some more details, just let me know. THX in advance Mariusz
Guest CitizenLee Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Where are you seeing this lag? In particular apps or in general? P It seems to be in general... unlocking, opening menus, starting apps, navigating screens, opening messages etc. It's especially laggy when typing out a SMS. I can be 3 or 4 words ahead before the phone catches up. Cheers, Lee
Guest kookix Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 (edited) @MarioPlBe It works for me, trying directly "Find Home" and also when adding postal address and then "Find Home". No FC's. MCR 3.2 coming from 3.1. Try a complete wipe and flash it again. Go to the phone pad and type *#*#4636#*#* You will then drop into the testing menu, choose Phone Information and scroll down to the first drop down menu. Change it from WCDMA preferred to GSM only. Will save battery too. Thanks ! So the option "Use only 2G" is here ? Someone could create a widget to switch 2G/3G =) Edited February 8, 2010 by kookix

Guest MarioPlBe Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 @kookix thanks for advice. I had to wipe 3.1 ROM which means all my backups are crap and i need to redo all my apps and settings. but problem fixed which is the most important. thx for fast reply Mariusz
Guest RatSon Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 (edited) my previously mentioned minfree manager app AutoKiller is released to market, go check it's thread ;) Edited February 8, 2010 by RatSon
Guest e2zippo Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 my previously mentioned minfree manager app AutoKiller is released to market, go check it's thread ;) Is it the same as the taskiller tweak? And i can't find it on the market.
Guest RatSon Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Is it the same as the taskiller tweak? And i can't find it on the market. It is a gui to fine tune 'taskiller tweak' without shell knowledge, it will also save your setting and reapply after reboot. i was uploading new version, you shall try it again, it is there ;)
Guest ippoP Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 @Paul Just to let you know that I've tested a number of 2.1 based ROMs in the past few days, and am back to MCR 3.1 (waiting for 3.2). They all suck as far as usability: they either freeze or reboot or lack basic features. Apart of the "not above 3 Mpx camera and no bluetooth audio" (which I don't care) all those ROMs are a little more than experiments. Having the proximity sensor working is nice, but useless when you need to cope with two or three reboots a day! Nothing for real every day usage. And MCR is the fastest and most stable ROM for the Hero I've seen so far. @EveryoneElse (EUR 0.01 contrib) Stop kidding with fancy stuff! Need a really working ROM? This's the one for you. If only it could get a really working wifi and FLAC support ...
Guest Phanes Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Hi Paul, I was experimenting with MCR 3.1 and tried to delete the whole "SocialNetwork" stuff. Would it be possible to isolate the social network section and offer it as option in the ROM kitchen?
