Guest gavinlew Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Upgraded to enhanced rom from 1.5.1 , also upgraded radio. Rebooted, no SMS bug with the widget scrolled happily through , and deleting messages from the widget works However, weather thinks I am in "Current City" , to fix it, I had to enable GPS satellites again Only issue so far is Newsrob has been unable to sign into google (but that maybe a wider issue?) Cheers,
Guest josifbg Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few seconds and then do a start with home/power? Yeap .. doesn't work...

Guest Funkyfin2000 Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Paul, Is there any chance of getting some kind of proxy switcher in a build? I find it so annoying that I can't use my wifi network at work with a proxy on it! Is there any chance of anything going on to sort this? I will be upgrading to 2 very soon, I have 1.5 installed with a flat upgrade over the top and I have had the following issues: SMS issue with just "loading" when reading txts - i understand a full wipe and install fixes this Facebook not allowing log in in the settings, just times out! On airplane mode when coming back out of flight mode, you get the emergency dialler which is a little annoying! When booting I get "the process com.htc.provider has stopped unexpectedly" which is a little annoying! Radio update has DEFINETLY improved signal, I have really awful signal previously in my house, getting regular no service messages, this has now gone virtually! Fantastic! Thanks for all your hard work! Please let me know about the proxy thing! Rich
Guest Paul Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 re: Proxy Switcher, best bet is having a look in the market, I don't know of anything off the top of my head. P
Guest josifbg Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Take the back off, take the SD card out, pull the battery out and put it back in whilst holding the home button, then power on. This worked for me, although it may have been psychosomatic. :) doesn't work :)
Guest sveintore Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Bricked Hero? A friend of mine yesterday wiped and flashed 1.5.1 Today he flashed 2.0 without wipe and afterwords he applyed the radio 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18 after the restart the phone stays on HERO logo... Non of the combinations home+power or back+power brings him to the recovery image for nandroid restore... Any ideas? Turn it on with home and back pressed in. Then wipe. That worked for me.. (I was deeply worried) Mine did this after I partitioned my sdcard. Was scared that I had partitioned the phones memory instead :)
Guest scopes64 Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Well this had to happen !! :) Found a Few Bugs In version 2.0 core. 1> advanced task manager doesn't show memory info any more and force closes when system tab is selected. 2> sms widget doesn't go beyond the second sms, you have to recycle the widget to get it to work. 3> cant delete sms's from the widget. 1) cant comment don't use it 2) SMS widget works fine, just scrolled through 20 sms threads 3) SMS delete from widget works fine
Guest Funkyfin2000 Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 re: Proxy Switcher, best bet is having a look in the market, I don't know of anything off the top of my head. P Hi Paul, yeah nothing in the market place sadly! I know theres you can change the proxy via the adb and do it but be nice to have an app or a way to do it? :) Rich
Guest marianne2 Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 how does the java app work? Saved some jar/jad files on my sdcard but can't see them in the java application.

If it's via a 'adb shell' command, you can drop the 'adb shell' bit, put them into a script in the free 'gscript' app (on the market) and then create a desktop shortcut to the created gscript. Job done. P
Guest josifbg Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Paul, Can you please advice for the bricked phone? Do you have any suggestions? ideas?
Guest Paul Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Bricked phone how? If you can boot into bootloader using power and back, it's not bricked. Just then follow my recovery-flashing guide, then flash a ROM. You can't brick the phone unless you flashed the SPL (which isn't in any of my ROMs)... P

P Well yeah i know it`s near to impossible to brick the Hero but here is the situation: A friend of mine Wiped and flashed 1.5.1 Today he flashed 2.0 without wipe and afterwords flashed the latest radio... after the restart the phone stuck on HERO logo.. Removing the battery + trying home+power doesn't work Removing the battery+Sd card and again home+power doesn't work Home+Back+Power doesn't work... The phone powers up every time and shows the HERO logo... He tryed to plug it to the USB... but this also doesn't work... Maybe he should flash the radio first and than the 2.0? He is using the stock 2GB class 2 microSD (the card doesn't have ext3..... ) if this matters... Edited September 4, 2009 by josifbg
Guest amans Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 just installed 2.0 ! everything works fine ! thanks a lot again !! :) i just have a problem with wifi openbsd router....the problem seems to be known with original rom too :/ i don't want to bother you too much but do you have an idea how to fix that ? see the post on android (google code) : http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1937 i think that the problem is on the hero which doesn't recognize the arp reply from openbsd.... if someone has an idea ? maybe you could include it in the next update...because i don't think google cares about it :) thx

I don't think you are holding the home button down long enough. push the home button down and hold it, then press the power button and hold it down for three or four seconds. You can release the power button after this period BUT continue to hold down the home button.
Guest Paul Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Yeah, so that's not bricked is it. A brick doesn't power on and display a HTC logo... :) Can he get to bootloader with power+back? P

Guest mkolonko Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 hi everybody, first time here... as registred thanks a lot for the supberb rom, paul! really amazing. is it possible to have locale set to englisch(switzerland) and have a QWERTZ keyboard? - right now there is only QWERTY to choose from... but this are minor issues, just beeing picky :) ...
Guest josifbg Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Yeah, so that's not bricked is it. A brick doesn't power on and display a HTC logo... :) Can he get to bootloader with power+back? P no.... it doesn't work
Guest FrAN_oC Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 You must be doing something wrong. If the Hero logo appears, it means that it's not bricked. You must press "back" button and while pressed, you must turn on the phone. Hope you understand my english. I am Spanish and sometimes is difficult for me to post in english. Regards!
Guest Stevie B Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 The phone is booting if it gets to the Hero screen, but must be locking up on something. I suggest you remove the SD card (whilst the phone is turned off), and try booting normally at first, without the extra memory....
