Guest nysos Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Please bring the 2G/3G switch back again, thank you. :D Otherwise, the beta 5 is great. +1 Hope you can put that back in. I don't use it to save battery but to get around the Android bug where the dataconnection isn't restored after getting off a Wifi connection (a quick toggle between 2G and 3G brings it back. Switching to airplane mode is also an option but then you have to enter the phone pin every time + WaveSecure also kicks in and I have to enter the WaveSecure PIN as well).
Guest TmB Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 I noticed for the alarm that you have to set the day as well. So its not enough to set the alarm for 6am (even though it says the alarm is set for x hours from now). You need to set the day for it to work. You can test this out by setting an alarm for 2 minutes from now - try it with and without the day selected.

Guest Khrushchev Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 HELP... I have been using this Beta for a week now I think with no problems... had Sense crash once... This morning however, my alarm didn't go off.. or so i think and i woke up thinking it was 3pm... I thought i missed my class.. i check my computer, its only 11am. my phone time is set to india... my current location is bugged somehow. I go to google maps to check my gps... i ask for my location and it says its it in India.... I can't figure out how to change it. it always wants to show my current locations time....

Yesterday evening I set alarm to 7.20 AM and I'm sure there was repeat set to never. The I just checked the alarm on alarm list (and all days were greyed out), and it woke me up this morning. Guest CitizenLee Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 After a few weeks of using MCR 3.1, I finally gave in and rolled back to 3.0 last night... the speed difference is unreal! 3.0 just flies compared to 3.1 which I eventually found to be unusably slow on my Hero. Only problem I've encountered rolling back is the Boot Control widget no longer works but I can live with that. Will 3.2 being going public at any point, or are we all just waiting for HTC to drop the official update next month?

Why not use this? http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...n-limited-beta/ It works really well, more than justifying the cost to go adfree! Edited February 18, 2010 by zippyioa

Guest Mysteriarque Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Hi all, It seems Google contact doesn't synchronize contact birthday date with my Hero on MCR 3.1
Guest Mark'Oh! Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Hi all, It seems Google contact doesn't synchronize contact birthday date with my Hero on MCR 3.1 yep, but that bug is already present in the unmodified rom.
Guest lmart1n Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Problem with Nandroid Backup and BART: When i try to run nandroid or Bart it says: "Error: Run .... via adb" or something like this... I'm on a FRESH Install of Beta 5 with ext4. Is there a solution for this? BEfore the fresh install, everything worked fine!
Guest ystd Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 My Google Maps isn't working very well. I can see where I am, but routing or searching don't work. If i search a thing in maps I will get a forced close. Routing don't kill the app but nothing happens. And: at every start I get the "new features" screen What can i do?
Guest thecastlefordkid Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Today I finally found someone that doesn't have a custom ROM on their phone and are running the standard UK Orange ROM. Running his phone and my phone (MCR 3.2 Beta 5) side by side and performing some speed tests, it demonstrates how quick MCR3.2 is. It's immense, must have averaged performing tasks 10 seconds quicker than the standard ROM. I knew it was fast, but not that fast. My friend was going home tonight to install the recovery image and will be joining as an Ad Free member. He was well impressed and couldn't wait to get a custom ROM installed. I've now been running MCR 3.2 beta for 2 to 3 weeks constantly and have had not one force close or problem. So stable, better than the standard ROM.
Guest drummer Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 (edited) Signed up for the ad-free membership to give this a go. :D Definitely quicker than the previous ROMs but I have a problem houston. I see from previous posts that the 2G/3G switch is missing in this version but my phone is stuck in 2G now. I've been to several different areas today where I have always had good 3G/HSDPA coverage, so I know it's not a signal strength issue. My gut-feeling is that before applying this ROM I was in 2G only mode and this has been retained with the update with no way now to turn it to 3G. I'll try reloading the previous ROM, turn on 3G, re-apply this ROM and see if that sorts it. Edited February 18, 2010 by drummer
Guest lmart1n Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Enough space on your SD card? yes (over 4gb) Tried to do a fresh install, reflashed recovery... still same problem!

Make sure you're using the latest AmonRa Recovery, that was a known issue with one of the earlier version. I rely on the alarm on my Hero to get me up for work, been using 3.2b5 for the past few weeks and it hasn't missed a beat.
