Guest chingf0rd Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 I never experienced that behaviour. Did you do a complete wipe before you did the update? (Must be a fairly standard question in this topic. :)) I've just switched-off the Hero and rebooted. This was the first time since I installed MCR 2.0 and I've shoved so many apps onto it that something must have needed a reboot to fix it. Fingers-crossed it's ok now. :)
Guest ZiCoN Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 Wiped, installed, wiped... an a very wide smile spread across my face. This is awesome! Great work Paul!!
Guest franklinvv Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 Correct. All the 'problems' you described have been features since the G1. And yes, Peep does this as well. I can assure you that Peep does not show that kind of behaviour on my device. :)
Guest francisbacon Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 Hi Paul First of all i would like to thank you for your amazing work and contribution to this community. The ROM upgrade installed perfectly and the fluidity of the UI is just beautiful more over your custom additions are a real treat to making the UI even more user friendly, so thanks again! on the subject of removing parts of the ROM I am new and therefore am not very familar as to where exactly the ADB Zip file should go before doing a command prompt execution, is this done on windows or on the phone. Thanks again for your help Francis Removing parts of the ROM you don't want (Twitter, Plurk etc.)
Guest ccsnet Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 The seems to be maturing nicely Paul although been me I'm probably going to leave it a little longer..... one thought are the sense themes some thing you can back up if like me you have your own custom one just right ? Must just be a diddy xml some where ? Terran
Guest Catscrash Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 it happened now the second time that I have to reenter my PIN after some hours, but this time i could see what happened. I think touchflo was killed... at least suddenly there was the "htc" screen, and when touchflo came back i had to reenter the pin... anyone else had this? that happened twice more now... where can i find this logcat and how to use it?
Guest ghoonk Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 (edited) I can assure you that Peep does not show that kind of behaviour on my device. :) Under Settings -> Locale & text, select Touch Input -> Text input I have the following settings: QWERTY - Prediction checked - Spell Correction unchecked Phone keypad and compact QWERTY - Spell correct unchecked - Word completion checked I have just tested this in Peep, and get the following: - Double tapping spacebar gives me a period (.), and the next character is automatically capitalized -- expected behavior - After hitting a comma (,), I have to manually add a space - expected behavior - After hitting a period (.), the next character is automatically capitalized - expected behavior I'm not sure how this is counter-intuitive, especially since the iPhone's virtual keyboard does exactly the same thing. Now, if only I could get the keyboard to do the same in Windows :) Edited September 6, 2009 by ghoonk
Guest CapriciousX Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I put this image on my hero yesterday and discovered an issue with the email synchronisation. Although I set the timer on 15 minutes I have to refresh my email accounts manually. Otherwise there happens no check automatically. Can you confirm that?
Guest AndyCr15 Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 (edited) - You can now check your MoDaCo Custom ROM (MCR) version from the about menu. It will display MCR2.0 (core) or MCR2.0e (enhanced). Mine shows - BUILD NUMBER 2.73.405.5 146733 CL#61267 MCR2.0 release-keys No mention of core or enhanced. Does this mean it's not flashed properly? I did the core version... Edited September 6, 2009 by AndyCr15

Guest ghoonk Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 New bug just surfaced -- out of the blue, HTC CIME no longer offer predictive text in Messages. Works fine in all other applications.
Guest ripkord Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Thanks for this, I finally have the Hero I wanted!
Guest tns Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Hello, for those like me who tried to restore the old sms database or who have not wiped the data partition before upgrading to the new HTC rom and have SMS problems (received but not showing, SMS widget bug...) I have investigated the problem and it definitly seems to come from a change in the database format. Technically speaking, under the mmssms.db database, one field has been added to the 'sms' table. These are the old fields headers: _id|thread_id|toa|address|person|date|protocol|read|status|type|reply_path_prese t|subject|body|sc_toa|report_date|service_center and here are the new fields headers: _id|thread_id|toa|address|person|date|protocol|read|status|type|reply_path_prese t|subject|body|sc_toa|report_date|service_center|index_on_sim as you can see, a new field 'index_on_sim' of the type INTEGER has been added. For those who know how to edit this database and want to keep all their messages after the upgrade, editing the database using an sqlite database manipulation program (such as sqlite3 under any Linux distro) and using the following SQL command should do the trick: ALTER TABLE sms ADD COLUMN index_on_sim INTEGER DEFAULT -1;

You don't have to add a space after a comma and a period, and you do have to capitalize the next character manually after typing a period. (My settings are the same as you described btw.) I've been told by friends that the stock rom that shipped with my Hero has the same behavior although I never noticed it (and can't seem to track it down in my sms archive either), so it does not seem to be a new 'feature' of this rom. That's odd. I've been getting this behavior system-wide, with the exception of certain text fields (not text boxes). Try a reflash?
Guest francisbacon Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 is it ok to delete the upgrade.zip files in the sd card once we are done extracting and installing the contents to the phone? it gets confusing with so many upgrade.zips left over in the card also is there a simple way to go back to a previous radio rom version? thanks

I am running the modified recovery image so I just keep the various zips in my SD card's root folder -- radio update, CIME update, modified modaco 2.0 update, and the unmodified but rooted official update from modaco. This way, in the event that I need to flash on the run, I can just use the recovery bootloader to flash the relevant .zip

It wont work if you repack it yourself. It has to be the original zip downloaded from here!
