Hi,

I flashed the rom 2.0 core, everything seems ok, i just add a problem after, i am not sure it's related to the flash...

when i try to download application on market place, it says start downloading but nothing start, i try with different application and it seems that marketplace is broken or maybe i have a lockfile on the filesystem that broke the download.

Just for informations i success to install marketplace application just after the flash, but after a few hours i experienced this problem.

Any suggestions ?

did you try with wlan or over 3g?

when i try to download over wlan, it takes loooots of time til it starts downloading. over 3g i dont have this problem. on the other hand, surfing over wlan is ok, so i think this has nothing to do with the rom...

Hi all,

This is my first post on the MoDaCo forums. I'd like to thank Paul for all of his hard work on the custom ROMs. Keep up the good work. I've just upgraded my HTC Hero (Orange) to version 2 of the MoDaCo custom ROM and the difference in performance is staggering. The UI now feel how it should be, smooth and fluid and I have yet to experienced any issues.

Just a quick question. I have partitioned my SD card to include a Linux Swap and EXT3. How do I move my applications from the phone to the EXT3 partition? is there a significant difference in performance by doing this? Finally do I need to tell Android about the Linux Swap partition? if so how is this done

Cheers

hello guys, new in here (and with everything android-related) :)

before I move to MCR2.0 I need to be absolutely sure about few things :)

I used the Custom Recovery Image - I assume that my HTC Hero is rooted now?

I think it is, because I was able to put the latest RADIO on my mobile.

If yes, then the next question: when I do "adb shell" I'm not a root in the console. Instead of "#" command prompt I get "$". Thus I can't list directory like 'data' on my mobile.....

I assume doing wipe/factory settings from 'Custom Recovery Console' is enough to apply the MCR2.0 ?

(I did mybackup for apps and data, also nandroid backup for current state of my mobile).

thanks for the answers! cheers!

PS: I think It would be really nice to put all the infos in one place like the Wiki page here @ modaco. It really took me some time to gather everything up and do something.

hi

i have rooted and installed your rom on to my G2 touch, but im having problems when connecting my phone to my mac, in the notifications bar i used to get the option to mount the sd card but now i only get the option to use htc sync which is not available on mac at the moment. does anyone have any idea how to fix this or will i have to send the phone back? also on that note, now that i have rooted it will they take it? can i get rid of the root by restoring factory settings?

thanks

ALTER TABLE sms ADD COLUMN index_on_sim INTEGER DEFAULT -1;

Thanks! Worked like a charm..

Had the problem and decided I just didn't backup my sms, but ofcourse, this is better :).

Also, I have the same problem mentioned somewhere in this topic regarding wifi-tether:

It says something like 'Phone is in an unknown state, try rebooting'. Have created a topic on the developers site.

Anyone else has an idea?

Cheers

Your phone is not yet rooted. You first have te apply the new (custom) rom. Then it will be rooted.

You need to place the ROM.zip on your sd card (main map) and than choose 'Apply any update from sd'.

Apply the update, and your good to go.

But hang on: if you are using the standard rom atm, you indeed need to do a wipe first.

Questions? Reply :).

The apps will be transfered automatically, so don't worry about doing anything manually.

Just make sure the ext3 partition is second, than you'll be fine.

Unfortunately, when you flash your phone, HTC stops immediately providing support by fixing/flashing your phone.

Is your sd-card accessible from your phone atm? Try that by using something like 'file explorer' (market).

If it isn't, try formatting your sd card in adb shell.

Try flashing to a standard ROM first - http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...ate-zip-format/

im using a mac and when i downloaded the rom it automatically unpacks the zip file

In your Safari preferences there is an option to disable automatic opening of "safe" files. Enable it and re-download.

WiFi tether is having issues. Can seem to shut it down correctly. Like the other guys here. Other than that. It rocks.

I have just updated to the enhanced image, and am now unable to go into my SMS messages. when I try to access a conversation, it just sits there with Loading... on the screen.

any ideas?

ok, I got it :)

So I need to do the wipe first and then load in the custom ROM on my 'vanilla' Hero. After that my Hero should be rooted (thus, I should have "#" command prompt under adb shell)

thanks!

Has the "time view" display in the calendar app changed in the new ROM version? I am finding it confusing when scrolling through the days and I think it is because it doesn't show the day of the week anymore - just the date.

Can anyone confirm this and also confirm whether the day is shown on the previous ROM version, please?

Can anyone else confirm that the zoom facility in the camera app has now disappeared in the new ROM?

I can see that the auto focus works (without pressing any buttons the crosshairs change to green automatically).

I am not complaining in any way because the smoothness in the new ROM more than makes up for it but I did find the zoom function useful.

press 'menu' and you will find 'zoom' there but need to use touch screen to zoom + or -. It is not same as before that we can use trackball to zoom.

You can also do a "pinch" on the screen to bring up the zoom slider.

The zoom is academic though, surely? It's not an optical one so it was just saving less data when it took a picture. You may as well take the picture in full resolution and crop it later. :)

Just try to do a little reading :).

Read this post and use the attached program.

Good luck!

Edit: did you do a wipe first? I guess you used Backup for Root users. Before you restore, look at the link provided and edit the mmssms.db file Backup Root created on your sd-card.

sqlitebrowser_1.3_win.zip

Great work again, Paul.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but you say "- Silenced boot sound (it's still there and can be reactivated with a file edit)," which file do you have to edit and what change do you have to make?

Thanks

The new camera app works much better and if you need to zoom, simply swipe your finger up and down the screen. Tap to get rid of it.

Nice, simple, and as it should have been from day one! :)

Hey guys, I've got the Java in my program list, I've got superuser permissions (though it doesn't seem to do anything...) but I don't appear to have Spare Parts. Have I done something wrong? In settings I've got:

2.73.405.5 146733 CL#61267 MCR2.0 release-keys

Is that right?

Sounds like you wiped AFTER flashing the ROM instead of before...
