Nice work, no luck with tun.ko module

insmod: can't insert '/system/lib/modules/tun.ko': invalid module format

Sounds like you wiped AFTER flashing the ROM instead of before...

P

Bang on. That is what I did. D'oh!

Wipe and reflash then?

Small bug here.

The favorite people widget by htc, It deletes people or my favorite people is deleting them itself randomly. So far I have noticed it happen with active sync contacts, and have not tested it with other types of contacts.. Might just be me.

Version 2.1 online, very very minor changes for this one. Install if you fancy it! :)

if we have 2.0 installed.. to upgrade to future roms do we simply:

put new ROM (renamed update.zip on to the SD card)

do a wipe

install new update

reboot

same as what we did with 2.0

Hello. This is my first post here, I want to thank you Paul for the great job you are doing!. I have installed Modaco's htc hero custom rom 2.1 enhanced, but when i go to settings->about phone (I think that's the correct translation, because my hero is in spanish) firmware version shows "1.5"...Is that correct? Thank you!

It's the build number you should be looking at. It should end MCR2.0 (Unless Paul has modded it to say 2.1 now. :))

Hello all,

I'm one of the unfortunate to experience the reboot loop on the custom rom. I've done the following sequences:

- wipe + update

- wipe + update + wipe

- wipe + update to modaco 1.5.1 + update to modaco 2 + wipe

And each time it has ended on a reboot loop.

The latest radio was applied on the stock rom (HTC Generic 1.76.405.6).

I ended up flashing the rooted HTC Generic 2.73.405.5, but I wish I could enjoy some A2SD goodness... :)

Paul, please find attached a logcat during one of the many boot loop, hoping it will help you find what's going on.

Regards,

Stéphane

Hi Paul.

Thank you so much for this ROM, I love it.

Makes my Hero feel like it's on steroids!

I have 2.1 enhanced installed and I'm having a couple of small issues with it.

First, although I have the Business Card Scanner app working, Plurk doesn't show up in my list at all.

Also, the Superuser Permissions is there, but when I launch it, it doesn't seem to do anything, I just get a black screen.

Next, I'm having some sms widget related lag. It will only show me the last 2 when I use it, but if I wait a while, the others do load, eventually. I don't remember having to wait so long in the original ROM. Do I need to edit the database, as suggested here? They load, just slowly.

And, finally, I'm also having some of the keyboard issues that others are having. When I select a suggested word with a full stop, I get a space and the next word is not capitalised, while when I do it with a comma, it spaces automatically. This was definitely not the original behaviour, because my fingers have gotten used to the stock way of doing things, and now my texts have too many spaces and many uncapitalised sentences!

None of these are very problematic, though.

I just wanted to report how it's working over here and see if anyone has any advice beyond wiping (done many times, both before and after flashing the image) and reflashing (also done).

Thanks again!

Make sure your ext partition is ext3

Make sure your ext partition is ext3

Thanks, I'll have a try at it.

I'm quite sure I had launched the update_fs, but now I remember reading something about ext4... I'll just reformat the ext3 partition and see how it goes.

Stéphane

Thanks kotipelto, that was indeed the problem: the partition was in ext4...

AlThePost, please let us know what improvement from MCR2.0 ?

@khunjj: I haven't noticed any obvious improvements, but then I wasn't expecting any. The changelog only mentions "Added new bootdeb script" and "Minor tweaks to startup script". More importantly, in the short time it's been on I've not noticed any problems.

Besides, testing new revisions is the least I can do in return for Paul's hard work. :)

Laocoon:

Most problems with recurring reboots seem to lie with the way the SD card has been formatted.

How have you partitioned ur card?

Try reformatting ur FAT32 partition another way to however you may have initally done it.

I initially setup my card using the Gparted Live CD on a mac, as a FAT32/EXT3/Linux-Swap, yet i had the continuously looping boot problem.

I got round this by taking out the SD card, mounting the SD card on my mac and then formatting the FAT32 partition again.

Let us know how you get on!

<snip>

Indeed, the problem was with the ext* partition being ext4 instead of ext3 - me following this guide a bit too far.
