Guest phillevy Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Indeed, the problem was with the ext* partition being ext4 instead of ext3 - me following this guide a bit too far. Regards, Stéphane I did the same - perhaps there should be a sticky to warn people not to use ext4?
Guest stripealipe Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Ok, can we get this implemented in the next build please Paul?! :) http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/bfs/bfs-faq.txt
Guest Paul Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Not until we can compile custom Hero kernels! P
Guest stripealipe Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Ah, i take it this is what's just been released by HTC for the Magic and G1?! Damn, hope they don't make the Hero community wait too long... Is it the custom kernels that will allow a lower level customisation and control of Android?
Guest malbon Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 (edited) Hi, Thanks for the recent ROM update. I'm on Orange and had my phone for about 7 days. I installed the recovery suite, wiped the rom and put the new ROM on. All went OK and the phone is more responsive. However, I have an issue where the SLEEP button isn't working. Strangely it worked yesterday after the update but not today ??? It still works as a function to switch the phone off etc but not SLEEP. Have I mistakingly pressed a setting or do I have a problem with the ROM ? I would have thought it be the former but any advise is welcome ! Thx EDIT - IGNORE ME - I was playing with the Extra Parts function that comes with the ROM and changed the button function. :) Edited September 8, 2009 by malbon
Guest usoska Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 (edited) Hi ! I upgraded this morning from 2.0 to 2.1. And for the first time (I made all upgrades since 1.4) I encounter a problem. After the first upgrade (and the wipe), I configured my exchange synchronisation with my exchange server. The OWA server uses a self signed certificate, at the first sync I had to confirm I wanted to sync with this unknown certificate. I've never been bothered by this certification question after that. Since I upgraded to 2.1, I'm unable to sync with exchange again. If I try to manuall sync (settings > data synchronisation), I have again the bad certificate notification. Although I click on Continue, the warning message keeps beeing displayed, and the sync doens't work any more ... Anyone else here encounters the same problem ?? thanks in advance if someone can help me ... Beside of that, it doens't seem possible to import a new CA certificate in the Hero KeyStore. Wich prevents me from beeing able to sync with exchange anymore ... too bad :/ Edited September 8, 2009 by usoska
Guest englishpunk Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Is the build version updated on the 2.1 Core ROM ? Mine is still showing MCR2.0 after an update. Thanks
Guest usoska Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Balls, forgot to update the build.prop, it'll still show 2.0. Oops!
Guest mkolonko Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 hi, i previously moved the dalvik cache to sd... when i flush the rom to 2.1, will the cache be again on the device?
Guest usoska Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 My exchange sync / certificate problem really seems to be due to the 2.1 . I just downgraded from 2.1 to 2.0, and the sync works again perfectly ...
Guest AndyTownsend Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Hi, I've updated to 2.1 with the latest radio pack as well but I'm still getting the SMS bug. I started by installing the recovery image, then the new custom ROM (after performing a backup) and everything seemed fine. Still sends/receives messages but it when you go into a Messages thread it just sits there saying Loading. If i check the phone info, its reporting Firmware as 1.5 Baseband as 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18 Build Version as 2.73.405.5 146733 CL#61267 MCR2.0e Software Version as 1.0.0.A6288 Anyone have this problem and know how to sort it? It seems to happen on both new and existing sms threads as well. Cheers, Andy
Guest Paul Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 I'm not sure where we're at with the SMS bug... it seems the DB format may have changed (maybe why HTC are mandating a wipe?) P
Guest AndyTownsend Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 I'm not sure where we're at with the SMS bug... it seems the DB format may have changed (maybe why HTC are mandating a wipe?) P Definately seems the most plausible reason, I've just done a wipe and reload on the ROM but its still the same. I did the wipe from the recovery console and it seemed to complete instantly. When i load the new ROM again, everything is still in place (messages, people, settings) so I'm presuming I'm not doing the wipe properly? Is there another method?
Guest radi8tor Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Dear Paul, I have posted this on xda, but noone reacted to it. Since the last update (extended) with radio update I got the following message after a call, or after receiving an email. I can say it comes randomly: "The process com.htc.provider has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Force close -button What does this mean? What is com.htc.provider? Is this affecting the operation of my phone? Regards

Guest darkskiez Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 I updated the tun.ko with this one which is built for the correct kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...amp;postcount=6
Guest radi8tor Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Did you wipe? P No because it was written wipe is nessesary only from old versions. I have upgraded from your prev. Hero ROM. Should I wipe? Is there a way to store the email preferences? I have to enter my 4 mailboxes after every ROM update manually.
Guest Paul Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 I'll include the new tun.ko in 2.2. P
Guest Steve7 Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 If someone could ... Could they do a video showing the new features of the new custom firmware and the show the speed of it in comparison to the previous firmwares.
Guest JamesKing Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 hi Paul, Could I please request that you upload the business card scanner APK? I'd like to have the core version, plus the business card scanner installed to ext3, but at present can't find a way to do this, as I can't find the install file for BizCardScanner. I assume if I get hold of it, I can just download it to my phone and then run it to install...?
Guest Paul Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 New update in first post! P Changelog 2.2 Corrected tun.ko Updated busybox Minor tweaks to unify build with sapphire and dream versions
Guest AlThePost Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 New update in first post! I was planning an early night too..... oh well. :)
Guest norrgrd Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 That's odd. I've been getting this behavior system-wide, with the exception of certain text fields (not text boxes). Try a reflash? I also get it system-wide and I hate it. I can assure you it was not like this before the update. It's extremely annoying getting that extra space after typing a comma and also always leaving an empty space after each dot I type. If you know of any way to disable this I am grateful.
