Removing parts of the ROM you don't want (Twitter, Plurk etc.)

Enjoy - if you need help removing anything else specific, post in topic! :)

If it's not too much to ask I'd like to get rid of most unnecessary applications I don't use (if possible).

I'll list whatever applications I couldn't remove myself;

Apps

Browser

Google Talk

Music

Other

All HTC widgets except for Calendar and Settings.

Thanks Paul,

this is a great Hero Rom.

just a couple of problem I found:

1. I can't turn the bluetooth on.

2. I can't choose to use the Chinese input

Hello Paul !

Everything in your custom roms seems fine but one, which I'm a lil concerned about. The advanced task manager app does not work the way it should, 1) in the running apps tab the memory info is blank.2) when The system tab is selected either the app forcecloses or there is no info in that tab (all blank) . Now this works absolutely fine with the original rooted and unrooted roms and also your custom 1.5.1 . If you could kindly look into this matter it would be gr8. Thanks

Hi Paul,

Got a request:

Is it possible to look into the little sign that is visible in the main bar (top) when you have plugged in your wired headset? I would be very pleased to see that when my bluetooth headset is 'plugged in'.

Is that possible? Let me know if I can do anything..

Cheers

1. Bluetooth works fine here. Just made a phone call using my headset. Did you update with the new radio?

2. Checking.. Ehm.. Errrrrr.... I really have no idea :). Something for another person to find out.

From which rom did you update?

Any way to get Pandora program running? Was released yesterday, but doesn't work on Hero.

Got the same problem. Aren't using the software though. In the meantime you can use the task manager app from Wing Tseng if you like.

Just search for task manager in the market :)

There is already an indication in the status area when a bluetooth headset is connected to the phone, the bluetooth logo changes from the plain angular 'B' to something with extra lines on it. It's hard to describe, but there are pictures of all the status icons in the Hero user manual (no one reads those, right?) and I've seen it work on mine with MCR installed.

WIPE will delete apps installed on my SD card? Or if it will not delete them, what happens when I install the same application again which exists already on SD card?

I have version 2.0e but I have some issues with it, therefore I'm planning to update with WIPE.

Indeed, not available. You can use Last.fm and Imeem though..

But maybe that is something like telling an apple user to buy a windows pc..?

In that case: I didn't say a word! Will look into that.

Thanks!

Ps. Indeed, haven't read the manual.. I've been telling to rtfm to customers of us though.. but now I'm the one who got busted :)

It will not wipe the apps installed because of the A2SD app. But the question ofcouse, is whether you have partitioned your SD to work with that.

And I think you have.

I believe it will be 'installed' again and replaced..

Ahha, this is why 1st boot takes longer if apps are already on SD.

Yeah I know were to find the apps, just not sure if that would suffice. I also tried searching but as for all forums I think the search function is rather worthless for time to time. Thanks for your find though.

I also get it system-wide and I hate it. I can assure you it was not like this before the update. It's extremely annoying getting that extra space after typing a comma and also always leaving an empty space after each dot I type. If you know of any way to disable this I am grateful.

I've mentioned this too, it definitely wasn't there before the updates. I've altered my typing style now to get round it but often forget. Happens on 'mini'-QWERTY', don't know about other text inputs.

Hello all,

thanks to your efforts in making the most out of such wonderful devices like the Hero.

One newbie question:

I want to update from stock ROM 1.5 to a MoDaCo version 2.x.

I already installed recovery image and did nandroid backup.

I read that I need to wipe the device before applying the custom ROM?!?!

What happens to my paid application like CoPilot and some others. Are they lost?

How do I restore the applications? Do I need to install all of them by hand...

Paid applications are of course the most importat ones...

Thanks

They are connected to your google account and therefore not deleted. Just go to market, my downloads to download them again.

I see what you mean now. I didn't notice it before as I was running the HTC CIME, but using the standard HTC IME, I can see how annoying that is.

Pushing an old HTC_IME is probably the only solution...

P

Do you have one ready for deployment master?

There is no way I'm using this one.

The apps will be transfered automatically, so don't worry about doing anything manually.

Just make sure the ext3 partition is second, than you'll be fine.

Cheers

Thanks anderneo.

Is the linux swap partition on the SD card also activated automatically or do I have to do this manually? If so how?

Just a heads up to Paul regarding a very minor issue I have encountered with the version 2.0 of the custom ROM. The HTC message widget appears to work fine until you send a text. After this it appears that you can only scroll between 2 messages. If you remove the widget and reapply, it works fine.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?Do people use the widget? and if not what do you use as a replacement?

Cheers

I haven't tried it out and I've uninstalled the widget but I read that other people had the issue.

Hi

Just installed yesterday - fantastic. The speed difference is amazing. Thanks for a great ROM, and some brilliant work.

I particularly like the business card reader.

I do have a question though. I thought the new software includes a function to search the whole phone - apps, contacts &c.

Am I wrong? I can't find it.

Thanks,

Ben
