Guest Heppieboeddah Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 adb remount adb shell rm /system/app/htcmsgwidgets* That was to easy.. :) It did not work. The htc-msg is still on. I think it might have to do with the fact that its in the rom en not removble at all.?! Any to confirm that? Or another way to remove the HTC-message widgets?
Guest danchoi180 Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 You need to boot in to the recovery image and do wipe to fix that issue. You'll lose messages, contacts and settings though :) cool thanks heaps JamesKing! it worked! Paul: cheers for the work on this ROM its GREAT!
Guest hpk Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 Enjoy - if you need help removing anything else specific, post in topic! :) Hi Paul, learned a lot by reading here ... but something I could not find: Do you know, if there is an adb shell command, to make a factory reset, I assume, wiping the data partition could be equivalent, right?
Guest Krizp0 Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 Hey guys, Is this sort of the final version which will be released by HTC themselves in a couple of weeks? I've tried this one out, but i restored my backup because I couldn't receive SMS. Is this because I have to wipe all my data before upgrading? Thanks!
Guest Decaux Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 I was hoping the newest 2.2 would resolve my wifi issue Ive: -partitioned my SD card -gotten the newest radio -wiped -installed modaco 2.2 and I can connect to my router, but I cant get on the internet. Do I have to tweak the phone somehow? Or the router?
Guest adecot Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 hi there's a prob with google calendar. If you use gears with the new rom it doen't work....updating the screen all the time...
Guest jphooiveld Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Great work on this ROM Paul. Thanks for all the time invested into it. My hero feels really snappy now. First I made image backup with nandroid. After that I flashed the radio rom and after that yours. Everything seemed to work fine but sms application would not load my threads anymore. So I reverted the hero to the image backup I had made. I used MyBackup Pro to backup everything to SD card. After that I performed a wipe and flashed your rom again and restored the backup with MyBackup Pro and everything is ok now :) Had to install and configure all the apps again but it was worth the trouble. Thank you again for all the hard work.
Guest Sidroid Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Hey Paul Thanks for the excellent update and help on the rooting. I installed the custom ROM successfully, everything just works smoothly, the only problem i seem to be facing is that the notification lights on the top for missed calls or for the bluetooth dont seem to be working. Any idea on this? They dont work even after i restore the original ROM. Help Appreciated!!!
Guest stripealipe Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 We had a discussion over on XDA forums, and we're now helping to buy Paul a new Hero to replace the one he had to send back to HTC, so that he can continue developing ROMs for the community. So any more donations much appreciated! Check the link here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...591&page=98
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Er, I'm sure he'd love a free Hero, and I'm not saying he doesn't deserve one... but one of the reasons he was backing off was because he didn't have the spare time to continue. Buying him a new toy will be much appreciated, I'm sure, but it won't necessarily get you a new ROM.
Guest Paul Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 I did say that I would provide updates for my ROMs if people wanna buy me a Hero! I'm on the Sapphire atm which feels very slow by comparison. The T-Mo Pulse is gonna be interesting tho, at £179.99 on PAYG! P
Guest Paul Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Not sure i'll be able to resist fiddling when HTC release the kernel code... :) P
Guest stripealipe Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Not sure i'll be able to resist fiddling when HTC release the kernel code... :) P Ha! This is exactly why i'd like you to have a Hero to carry on. Kernel hacks with BFS please :) Donate people!!!
Guest Paul Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Caveat: I've never built a kernel before! :) P
Guest stripealipe Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Hi Paul, I'm having this same problem. Could you tell me how to maybe create an empty file if possible once i'm browsing using ADB Shell? The post at the end seems to have a solution, but the files are system files beginning with a . and i'm unable to do this easily on my Mac. http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...ls-not-created/
Guest flixi Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 (edited) At least one version (the Nordic version) of the official update is described on the official HTC site, but for some reason there does not seem to be any working download link: http://www.htc.com/no/supportdownloadlist....=sd&cat=all I'm not sure if I'm going to install it when it becomes available, I guess it requires a wipe. Isn't this the same build as the MoDaCo 2.2 build? And the MoDaCo version is wonderful. I hope the donations are buying you a Hero, Paul! Are you guys going to install the official update, or are you sticking with MoDaCo ROM 2.2? PS: Often the Nordic version will contain English as well as the Nordic languages, I don't know about this one, as I haven't tested it yet. Edited September 11, 2009 by flixi
Guest Sidroid Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Hey paul Thanks for the ROM update provided, I seem to have a little problem with the LED lights on the top flashing after the update. The missed call and sms notification and the bluetooth notification LED dont work anymore. Please help me out with this. I tried reverting back to the original backup, no luck. So i am back on the faster ROM now, which really is superb. Just a lil wierd with the small issue there. I looked up on forums, seems to be like a lot of buyers had this problem out of the box. I never had it before though. I couldnt find anything specific to it here , so am tryin to post this. Help me out with it please. Thanks !! Cheers!! Sid
Guest huey-t Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 *buys a Hero* ;-) P Haha - I saw your latest tweet. Congrats on the new Hero :)

Guest westmark Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 After installing the software on my Hero it really became super fast... Many thanks! However, I have a problem with my SMS. I can't receive any!! Please help. I had the same problem. Like a lot of people before me, I fixed it by going into recovery mode, selecting "factor reset / wipe", and the reinstalling whatever ROM you installed before. After that everything works like a charm. Oh, and by the way Paul... You rock man. 'nuff said.
Guest ZiCoN Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 After installing the software on my Hero it really became super fast... Many thanks! However, I have a problem with my SMS. I can't receive any!! Please help. Did you do a wipe BEFORE installing? For me old habids die hard... Used to WM phones, so I did a wipe before, installed and then again after.. Mine runs like a dream :)
Guest tone-fu Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 The new revision is great, although ChompSMS still won't work for me, it force closes when composing a new message, but works fine in reply.
Guest David B. Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 Hello, Paul, you have buy a Hero ? Cool ;-) I suppose you still accept we donate ? I'm a new forum (french) user and I want to thank you for your ROM !!! David.
