Version 2.3 is now online. Most of the changes are under the hood (again), you'll notice that you get the new People widget, facilitated by changing the base ROM.

The ROM is now available in regular and chinese versions, and the 'enhanced' features are now an addon pack to the base of your choice.

There will be some cool stuff coming soon in 'enhanced', and some even cooler stuff once HTC release the kernel source, but i'm open to requests for 2.4! :)

the biggest request i have is for an MMS fix for O2 user's of this phone.

anyway of spoofing so that O2 think its another phone and not a Hero so we can get full size MMS. also some way of sending them so they are compressed as close to the max 300k limit set.

apart from that, the roms are awesome.

Downloading this now, looking forward to you keeping my hero bleeding edge, that's my only request. Give us stuff over and beyond what HTC thought of (just a small request then lol).

But seriously, is text messaging fixed in this? Took me a while to dig out the SQL fix to get them working again on 2.2 (not sure if that was your fault of HTC's)

Hero's all about about the black UI, really don't want to lose that.

Hmmmm, though, mabye some sort of theme control would be nice for 2.4? (change font, icons?)

Great Rom Paul! Very fast! I didn't have problem with my APN's... I did an upgrade. Everything works.

There is a small tool on the market called APN Backup and Restore... Its handy !

Investigating the APN issue. If you upgrade instead of wipe, you shouldn't lose your APNs.

I am using an O2 sim and cannot send or receive MMS in any capacity. Been switching between the stock rom and this to test and it definitely isn't working with this ROM. Real shame because using wireless tether for root users works with this ROM, but I cannot do without the MMS.

Help needed paul.... please reply..

got the htc hero as a gift from my mom.. its carrier is orange n it a unlocked phone.. i have come to India for education.. if i install the new Rom version which u mentioned in this post.. will the phone be locked again?? (can i use the phone in india?? apart from uk?) if it is locked i cant send it back to uk(to my mom).. if u reply asap i will install the new rom... waiting for ur reply

did a clean wipe to 2.3

the keyboard still bounces in 2.3 when doing a search in the internet browser in landscape mode :)

also the trackball does flash when a message comes in etc, but the LED doesnt light up like other people are saying is with the new offical update.

be great to have these issues fixed

I cannot send/receive a MMS as well to Vodafone France (SFR). I checked my APN again and again but it doesn't work... I'm not sure if it's the ROM or not :-(

on my other hero i upgraded to 2.3 and still lost the APN. the other hero i did a clean wipe and no APN

I've done a wipe and re-load as I had a few issues and wanted to start a fresh. Lost all APN settings, I know you're looking into it, but just thought I'd let you know.

Are you able to address the issue with MMS resizing? Can you do anything to make it think its a different device and thus sending MMS to its potential?
