Guest phiit Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) Hi all! Here goes my first message :D I rooted my Hero this morning and installed the 2.3 ROM also, and I dare to say that it seems just a hint faster than the official update, at least on my Hero.. Anyways, did a wipe before installing and this thing is smoking now! Thank you for this and I'm looking forward to the future ROM's too :) Edited September 23, 2009 by phiit

Guest dazzler3000 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Installed 2.3 yesterday evening, works fine only for one 'small' issue... When I press the power button, the screen no longer locks, it just goes to the home screen... very annoying when I want to put in in my pocket :-) Will try revert to 2.2 to see if this is gone then
Guest tone-fu Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I've started having issues with 2.3 over the last 24 hours. It was all fine when I installed, running well. Then I started getting force close messages every time I try and use an app. Am going to try and do a wipe, re-format and re-install this afternoon and will report back. :-)
Guest b_jammin666 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Hi, I have the same problems with peep causing htc.provider force closing. I have set the update interval to manual and am not being bothered by the force closing or the tweet notifications! Seriously tho, anybody have any ideas how to fix this? Would seem a shame to have to revert back to 2.2...

(when I press the power button, it no longer locks the phone). Next step... a wipe?

There should be an option concerning the behaviour of the sleep-button. Maybe it's just as easy as that :) Edited September 23, 2009 by Mark'Oh!

Guest andready Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 How do I get"show compass in maps" to work inside google maps, like in the new iphone??? Thanks for a great firmware:)
Guest MilosM Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Hello... I'm having a very strange problem, I updated to this custom ROM 2.3 last night. I noticed in the first post that the Maps app was removed and that we should install it through Android Market. Here comes the strange part... When I search (in Android Market) for Google Maps or just maps or anything like maps, I get no results for Google Maps so I can't download and install the app. Google Maps are missing in Android Market. I even followed a direct link to the Android Market to install Google Maps, but it still can't find the app. Any suggestion? Thanks for your help, M.

Look in your downloaded apps in the market app, the market may think you already have it installed, just uninstall it and re-install
Guest b_jammin666 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) My Twitter issue seems to be fixed... Clear the peep cache in the setting section and then refresh. Worked great! Edit: Hilariously Paul just tweeted the exact same advice! Edit2: Actually it still seems to be happening... damn! Edited September 23, 2009 by b_jammin666
Guest andready Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) Sorry my question was about Spare Parts. Spare Parts has a setting to "Show Compass in Maps", but even though I can set that check mark, it only lasts until I open Google Maps -- at which point no compass can be seen, nor is the map rotated, and when I afterwards revisit Spare Parts, the setting has been turned off again. Can anybody get it to work??? Edited September 23, 2009 by andready
Guest MilosM Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Look in your downloaded apps in the market app, the market may think you already have it installed, just uninstall it and re-install Nop it's not there :)
Guest TafKas1929 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Hi im a newbie here, I am also having the Peep problem, clearing the cache works until you need to do a refresh again, then it plays up again. Any ideas? I am on Vodafone with unrooted Hero. TIA
Guest Remington Steale Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Nop it's not there :) Odd, dont know of a way to manually download the apk file. Did you have apps2sd??

Guest keveh Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) I am just about to do my first install of a custom rom, everything is going fine so far. I just wanted to ask a quick question regarding my contacts. I have installed the latest radio successfully, done a nandroid back up and I am just about to do a wip and install the latest rom. How easy is it to get my contacts back on my phone from the nandroid backup? I've already re-entered them a few times with having to do resets etc when I first got the phone and I don't want to have to do it all again. :edit: or is there another tool I can use to do a quick contacts backup? Cheers. Edited September 23, 2009 by keveh
Guest Paul Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Why aren't you syncing your contacts to a google account? P

Guest keveh Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Why aren't you syncing your contacts to a google account? P That is a very good question, and one I didn't think of. I think at the moment they are half and half. Is there a way to change all my contacts to google contacts quickly? Thanks
Guest MilosM Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Odd, dont know of a way to manually download the apk file. Did you have apps2sd?? Not before, but I did it just now. Still no Google Maps :S :)
