I've been running 2.3 Core since Monday evening and have no problems with Peep at all. In fact, no issues with anything - great work, Paul.

Ya i was running it fine last night, the wierdness started to happen this morning.

And now the wierdness is happening on 2.2..wierd...

Hi all! Here goes my first message :D I rooted my Hero this morning and installed the 2.3 ROM also, and I dare to say that it seems just a hint faster than the official update, at least on my Hero.. Anyways, did a wipe before installing and this thing is smoking now! Thank you for this and I'm looking forward to the future ROM's too :)

Follow these instructions to set up a GPRS data connection for picture messaging.

Find "Access Point Names"

* Press arrow up to access the main menu.

* Press Settings.

* Press Wireless controls.

* Press Mobile network settings.

* Press Access Point Names.

Create new or edit existing data connection

* To create a new data connection:

* Press the Menu key.

* Press New APN.

* To edit an existing data connection:

* Press the required data connection.

Enter data connection name

* Press Name.

* Key in PictureMessage and press OK.

The APN name general.t-mobile.uk must be in lower case letters.

Enter APN name

* Press APN.

* Key in general.t-mobile.uk and press OK.

Enter username

* Press Username.

* Key in user and press OK.

Enter password

* Press Password.

* Key in one2one and press OK.

Enter picture messaging server

* Press MMSC.

* Key in http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002 and press OK.

Enter IP address

* Press MMS proxy.

* Key in 149.254.201.135 and press OK.

Enter port number

* Press MMS port.

* Key in 8080 and press OK.

Save and exit

* Press the Menu key.

* Press Save.

When I press the power button, the screen no longer locks, it just goes to the home screen... very annoying when I want to put in in my pocket :-)

Will try revert to 2.2 to see if this is gone then

I've started having issues with 2.3 over the last 24 hours. It was all fine when I installed, running well. Then I started getting force close messages every time I try and use an app. Am going to try and do a wipe, re-format and re-install this afternoon and will report back. :-)

Hi,

I have the same problems with peep causing htc.provider force closing. I have set the update interval to manual and am not being bothered by the force closing or the tweet notifications!

Seriously tho, anybody have any ideas how to fix this? Would seem a shame to have to revert back to 2.2...

I'd suggest you to take a look at the app "Spare Parts". There should be an option concerning the behaviour of the sleep-button. Maybe it's just as easy as that :)

Hello... I'm having a very strange problem, I updated to this custom ROM 2.3 last night. I noticed in the first post that the Maps app was removed and that we should install it through Android Market. Here comes the strange part... When I search (in Android Market) for Google Maps or just maps or anything like maps, I get no results for Google Maps so I can't download and install the app. Google Maps are missing in Android Market. I even followed a direct link to the Android Market to install Google Maps, but it still can't find the app.

Any suggestion?

My Twitter issue seems to be fixed...

Clear the peep cache in the setting section and then refresh. Worked great!

Edit: Hilariously Paul just tweeted the exact same advice!

Edit2: Actually it still seems to be happening... damn!

Sorry my question was about Spare Parts.

Spare Parts has a setting to "Show Compass in Maps", but even though I can set that check mark, it only lasts until I open Google Maps -- at which point no compass can be seen, nor is the map rotated, and when I afterwards revisit Spare Parts, the setting has been turned off again.

Can anybody get it to work???

Hi im a newbie here, I am also having the Peep problem, clearing the cache works until you need to do a refresh again, then it plays up again. Any ideas?

I am on Vodafone with unrooted Hero. TIA

I just wanted to ask a quick question regarding my contacts. I have installed the latest radio successfully, done a nandroid back up and I am just about to do a wip and install the latest rom.

How easy is it to get my contacts back on my phone from the nandroid backup? I've already re-entered them a few times with having to do resets etc when I first got the phone and I don't want to have to do it all again.

I'm not sure you can do a selective restore from Nandroid??

I use MyBackup Free version from the Market, lets you back up apps and data and selectively restore what you like

That is a very good question, and one I didn't think of. I think at the moment they are half and half.
