Guest ratcom Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 The whole cyanogenmod saga came about because of the donut rom he was working on in my opinion, I've never heard of HTC chasing cookers in the past. Anyway thanks Paul for a great rom (just updated from G1 and loving the Hero speed!)
Guest Phily Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 (edited) If Google/HTC or anyone decided to try a block custom ROMs, wouldn't that just make the custom ROM builders work around it? Why not give you instructions no how to rip the Google/HTC apps from legit ROMs and move/port them into their custom ROM image? Yes, those instructions might overwhelm joe-blog but shouldn't be hard for anyone who has a bit of a clue. Edited September 26, 2009 by Phily
Guest keef319 Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 Hello, Do you have any screenshot of the Twidroid Pro Widget ? I'd like to see it before to buy ;-) Thanks. Sorry, I've only got the free version at the moment. Might get the Pro one soon...
Guest Teffers Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 Awesome job. Worked perfectly even for a noob like me. Cheers
Guest Erik Wallentinsen Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 Loving the MoDaCo ROM! However, I'd like to modify it myself and I have two questions about that; 1) Can you 'open up' the developent of MoDaCo? Im thinking public git (or other) repos? 2) How do you generate the boot.img file? It seems it contains not only the kernel and the ramdisk but also another file after those. I'm working on unpacking the file and repacking it again, but my hero hangs at the 'HERO' boot image.
Guest adolfopacheco Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 It seems to be that all of us that have ROM Version 2.73.707.9 on our Heros will have to stay with that version. There is no way (yet) to downgrade the HBOOT version and therefore the security lock that this version has that does not allow to install any official, generic or custom ROM on this device. We need some clever programer that wants to modify the FLASHREC app in order for it to work with our version. I believe that the Kernel has something to do with it as well, mine is 2.6.2744690c1a and the HBOOT is 1.76.0007. Come on, I know that there is someone out there that has solution for me!!!

Man we're really screwed, someone just asked zinx (author of flashrec)on his blog about our kernel : Does this mean rooting is impossible? kernel version: 2.6.27-44690c1a #adb push /tmp/flashrec-1.1.2-20090909/assets/raw/asroot /sqlite_stmt_journals 932 KB/s (81188 bytes in 0.085s) #adb shell /sqlite_stmt_journals/asroot /sqlite_stmt_journals/abc /system/bin/sh FAILURE: Didn’t get root. reply 2009-09-25 3:29am Fri HKT Zinx Yes. :) What firmware is this? EDIT: Or, I should say, rooting via this method is not possible.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

It has the exact same problem!, i think its either our Hboot or kernel which has the main problem if u read the past few pages u will see.
Guest khunjj Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 How to have new people widget with MCR 2.2? Thanks,
Guest usoska Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 How to have new people widget with MCR 2.2? Thanks, By upgrading to MCR 2.3 :)
Guest khunjj Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 By upgrading to MCR 2.3 :) Thanks, but instead of going to 2.3 which is not better than 2.2 (as some comments in the forum here) Can I just change new people widget of MCR 2.2?

I wanted to download the new ROM from the official wedsite but I can't do it from the french website nor the english and US one. After I input my cellphone S/N i got: you do not need that ROM. Does someone have the lastest english one? Thx

Thx Our Hero ROM which is for the Region has the latest ROM so basicly you can't put any other rom on it until HTC releases an updated rom for our region, you will have to put up with this laggy buggy rom and stab yourself everyday until someone either figures out how to get us root or htc will remember us and give us the much needed update
Guest Gorgi.GR Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Hi there, I am running MCR 2.2 on my HTC Hero. It all started when I tried to format the SD card from the phone (Storage menu -> Format SD card). However there was no progress indicator for the format. What is more, after the format I rebooted my Hero and since then I am unable to get my SD card working. Every time I boot or insert the SD the phone states that it is either Empty or the Format is unknown. No matter how many times I tried to format it again, I cannot see the SDcard in windows when I connect the USB cable , and I cannot get rid of the "Blank Card" notification on the Hero. And I have never seen a progress indicator when formatting. Has MCR 2.2 a flaw in formatting the SD? Any insight as to what might be the culprit would be greatly appreciated.

My new card did the same thing. Format it on your pc using this guide - http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-t...ndroid-apps2sd/ - worked fine for me. Edited September 27, 2009 by Roton

Thank you so much for this post Roton , you saved me a lot of trouble and frustration. :D However, why was the Hero unable to format the card by itself...? Is this normal? Is it something that happens due to the custom ROM modifiction, or does it also happen in the Original ROM too? :)
Guest keveh Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 I have had a look over the past few pages and the android.process.acore error people have blamed on Peep. After I installed the latest ROM I didn't bother to sign in to Peep or set it up because I knew of the issues it was having. I tend to get android.process.acore when I an browsing or writing an SMS, which is highly annoying when you get to the end of your message and you have to Force Close it. Just wondering if anybody else is having the same problem?
Guest Remington Steale Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 I've also gone back to the 2.2 version, it appears smoother and battery definitely lasts longer
Guest vicked Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 I'm considering to go back the 2.2 too. Can somebody help me, where can i find the 2.2 ROM? The another question is: downgrade is exactly like the upgrade, so i mustn't do anything else?

Guest Remington Steale Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 (edited) Just do the same as the upgrade, backup, wipe the phone, load the update.zip and re-set up your phone. Thats how I did it anyway. If you still have the nandroid backup from when you went from 2.2 to 2.3 you could always restore that instead I suppose?? Edited September 28, 2009 by Remington Steale

It worked just fine, my Hero is flying once again!! :) Not to discredit Paul and all his efforts with MCR (which is amazing!), but there was clearly *something* up with 2.3...
