Guest khunjj Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Hi Paul, Many, many thanks ! I had 2.5.1 + enhanced pack, and your new 2.5.1 Enhanced pack has immediately solved the "protected apps problem" for me. It took a second boot (after ROM installation) for everything to appear in the Market. Note that I have a script that clears my Market cache on boot. So your new build.prop *definitely* made the difference. For everyone: if it doesn't work for you, don't forget to kill Market, clear the cache, and reboot (just in case) before trying ! PS: Also, thanks Paul for releasing Radio ROMs separately. This allows us to use your 2.5.1 ROM with the radio 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18 which is (at least for me) perfectly stable, unlike the latest radio which seems to struggle with data connections. Hi Keramidas and Paul, I am using 2.5 Enhanced and can see "pay apps". Do I need to update to 2.5.1 Enhanced? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks,

Guest rhapsodhy Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Paul: do you have any thoughts on what may couse the restart loop when i upgrade from 2.2 to 2.5.1? Others have the same issue as i noticed, and it would be pretty good to have the new rom installed. Still, I don't want to wipe! (or am in need of a working backup solution for the home screens, and installed apks, settings, messages, etc.)
Guest Merago Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 I've got 2.5.1 running (I wiped and then upgraded) and it feels faster (possibly a trick of the mind, but who cares?) and my apps all seem fine, wi-fi browsing is also working as before for me. I am, however, getting occasional .acore force close errors that I wasn't getting before, and I also occasionally find my phone rebooting itself. Not often, maybe just once every day or two, but it is happening. Has anyone else seen this problem? I suspect it may be something to do with one of my apps not being happy after the upgrade, but I can't figure out which. It's not a major issue, but I thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone else had experienced it.

I asume i need to wipe, but i shouldnt have to really. Some advise would be appreciated on this. Looks like i may have to get my hands dirty.
Guest Dan Mullen Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Looks like I spoke to soon - I seem to be having the market issues too, even after upgrading to 2.5.1 Enhanced.
Guest clarkEEE1 Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 The first time I flashed 2.5.1 I had no market flashed and wiped 3 times and it was solved don't have a clue what was up with it though. Couple of dodgie flashes maybe but I don't have a clue.
Guest surfsmurf Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 (edited) Has anybody else noticed that the touch screen input seems a lot more responsive now? I'm not sure if it was the latest radio (doubtful) or MCR 2.5.1, but there's a definitive improvement. Before this latest update, the screen responded poorly to touches at edge of the screen, making Q, P and backspace more difficult to press correctly than other characters on the touch keyboard. Screen also seems to respond to a lighter touch when scrolling Home screens. EDIT: In fact, I'd go so far as calling it iPhone-like. To confirm that it's not just me imagining things, I had my coworker (who also has a Hero, but is running the official HTC ROM) confirm that, indeed, my screen is much more responsive than his. He has the same problem with the annoying Q, P and backspace keys. Obviously he can't wait till the next official update now :) Anyway. This update has fixed my last gripe with the Hero! Guest Splather Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 (edited) Hi all. Been a lurker for years but only just signed up! I'm experiencing the wifi lockup as well. I'm currently using the MCR 2.51 and up until this morning was using the latest radio rom (he one with FU in the middle of it). Wifi had been working fine and then last night, tried to access the internet through the router at home and hit the same problem. When loading my homepage (google.co.uk) the green progress bar at the bottom carries on fine until it hits about 80-90% (never very good at guesstimates!). Then it just stays there. It works fine over mobile web, but it just doesn't seem to like wifi. Email and the market etc will sync up no problem over wifi, it's just the browser..... :) rolled back to previous radio rom and still happens... any clues or fixes greatly appreciated! UPDATE: I left it to its own devices trying to load google while I typed this out and bingo - it loaded. Perhaps it's just a huge delay rather than a complete hang? PPS: Using core rom, not enhanced Edited October 13, 2009 by Splather

Guest keef319 Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 With the latest 2 radios, I was having this problem, only it was with HSDPA/3G rather than WiFi, which has been great on any radio. I've gone back to the original radio now. Don't have any problems surfing or sync'ing. (when I have a connection). Battery doesn't last quite as long now tho... :-(
Guest Splather Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 If I try, it hangs immediatly not to like 80% but more like 5%.. Funny enough that's exactly what's happening to me now too... :)
Guest Beekhouse Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Funny enough that's exactly what's happening to me now too... :) Welcome to the club even if you dont wanna be in it. I hope Paul acknowledges the problem and has some kind of fix for it. Looks like more and more people are having this issue.

I can now backspace with confidence and not end up with a set of "M"s! Is it my imagination or is the popup with the key you are pressing bigger as well? Anyway, great work Paul.
Guest Splather Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Hokay... now I have literally NO idea what's going on. Bounced between 63.18.55.06FU_6.35.07.08, 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18, 63.18.55.06_6.35.05.31, and now finally back to 63.18.55.06FU_6.35.07.08. Fired it up, deactivated mobile web, only activated wifi. Hit the browser and lo and behold, I have a google search page, fully loaded. Have since re-enabled the mobile web (so inessence I have both running - mobile just kicks in when the wifi is out of range). Killed all apps with Advanced Task Killer Free (just to make sure I wasn't seeing a cached page or owt). Fired up the browser (over wifi). And again, got a fully loaded google page. Am certain it's a fluke rather than a fix, but if it worked for me chances are it might work for other people.. Now if anyone can tell me where I can get some classic arcade games, I'm all set. Fingers crossed this might help someone. :)

If I go to a larger webpage it hangs.
Guest Stevie B Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Hi All I've been using radio _6.35.06.18 since its availability on this site. I have had no problems whatsoever with it - every day my phone is switching between 2G, 3G, H and wireless. My phone is configured for two wireless access points and it always switches automatically when within range. With every radio update (so far) I have seen reception improvements (T_mobile - boy was it bad when I first got the phone). I had been using generic HTC ROMs until two days ago when I took the plunge and updated to modaco 2.5.1. Again, no radio / wireless problems. So, in my case, extremely happy. After reading this thread, I'm not going to try the FU_ radio - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". To the people that have wireless problems - it is not uncommon for a home router to lock up on the wireless front! Have you tried resetting the router? My netgear router used to constantly lock up until I updated the firmware...

Tried multiple browsers on multiple routers all the same problem.
Guest dwattsy21 Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Hi Guys. I updated my Hero to the Modaco ROM about 4 or 5 weeks ago. Is this the latest one? If not is it worth updating to the current, will it run faster? Finally has anybody tried the new Orange Rom relsease? Is it worth switching to that? Cheers guys
Guest Paul Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Version 2.6 is now online. Changes: MCR now includes Wavesecure in ROM, allowing you to lock / locate / wipe your device remotely in the event of loss and be notified if the SIM is changed. The application cannot be uninstalled by a thief and we are actively working with Wavesecure to ensure that in a forthcoming release, your settings will survive a hard reset! The Chinese version also returns, I am uploading this now. P
Guest jonathanmusto Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 I've been experiencing the new radio dropping its 3g/hsdpa connection from time to time. WiFi was fine though. I've rolled back to the EU one and all is fixed now.

Guest Splather Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) Spoke too soon - borked again. Router working fine with the lappy and PS3, detected by the phone OK but no loading for me (also still works with otehr apps). Something to do with the actual browser itself, perhaps? :) Edited October 14, 2009 by Splather
