Guest katermuc Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 so no-one experienced a drop in mobile network signal on the new radio then? hmmmm many who have problems with the new radio. Go back to an older version.

Guest Poag Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Quick question about wave secure. How does it work? I just set it up on my phone and it made the noises of sending and receiving text messages. The number was +65 which I am unfamiliar with..... This was when i prompted it by the website to update my phone location.
Guest Keramidas Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 so no-one experienced a drop in mobile network signal on the new radio then? hmmmm Yes the new radio really sucks for me too (data problems on mobile network). But the previous one (EU.. version) is perfect :)
Guest Keramidas Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 (edited) Did you know if you put that in /data/init.sh it would run at every startup, even after a reflash? :( P Hi Paul, Yes thanks, I noticed this file - but haven't used it yet ;) Speaking of startup scripts: here's a neat trick for people in countries where MarketEnabler is needed to see paid apps. - Look at your operator number by typing "getprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric" - Put the following 2 lines in a new file called "/system/sd/userinit.sh" (replace 12345 with your operator number): rm -rf /data/data/com.android.vending/cache/* while [ 0 ]; do if [ "`getprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric`" == 12345 ]; then setprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric 310260; fi; sleep 30; done & Then reboot. The script clears your Market cache and then run in the background. You shoudn't need to launch MarketEnabler anymore, and you will have access to paid apps in Market :) Only one caveat: whenever you enter your PIN code, the operator number is reset to its real value by the phone. This script applies the fake operator number (as necessary) every 30 seconds. So, always wait 30 seconds between typing your PIN and launching the Market app. I've been using this for several weeks, with zero problems. Edited October 15, 2009 by Keramidas

"We intend to keep this free for everyone who registers now! That means even if we make this into a paid service on Android in the future this will remain free for our early users." Yay! :) P Thanks Paul, I'm now on 2.6e and successfully set up and registered with Wavesecure. I even remote locked my phone as a test, nice! It will be great if you can get it to survive a hard reset!! You should try opening talks with the people at Flyscreen, see if they'll let you beta test via your custom ROM users! J
Guest noobsen Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Wavesecure is at /system/app/com.wsandroid.apk in case you wish to remove it! :) P not for me... ive installed the 2.6 extended ROM along with the newest radio. the "phone info" tells me it worked fine - but: im not able to get root access (su: permission denied) and i had to install wavesecure manually by installing it as an app via m.wavesecure.com so it now can be deinstalled by the apps management... before modaco 2.6 i had no custom roms yet so i didnt wipe it, maybe this coulb be the point?
Guest agccheung Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Hi Paul, Many thanks for all your efforts on these Custom Roms (and the speed in which they are getting published), much appreciated! I have had MCR 2.3, 2.51, 2.6 (standard cores, wavesecure is brilliant! especially as it's not available on the iphone :) ) on my Hero. yesterday i tried installing the Chinese Core 2.6 version. Went to "Locale & text" -> "Touch Input Chinese", i get a Force close (com.htc.and4roid.cime). Can you advise? Do i need to do a wipe? When i start to compose a text message and press the cog/settings key, no option for chinese anywhere. Am i missing the point of this core chinese rom, should i be able to write chinese characters in a text? Many Thanks Andrew
Guest jonathanmusto Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Flyscreen is in the market now. P Thanks! Downloading now...
Guest wuka Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Hi, I have a problem with my mobile network sharing. I switched from the stock ROM to MoDaCo 2.5.1 (and Radio 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18). When I turn on mobile network sharing everything seems to work fine like before, rndis_host registers usb0, I receive an IP over DHCP, I can ping my hero but I'm not able to connect to other hosts. DNS works fine so I can resolve IPs but that's it...
Guest milan2008 Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Installed 2.6 over 2.5.1 and it's all working fine, seems faster than 2.5. Thanks

Guest rico2k_uk Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Flyscreen is in the market now. P I cant find it on the UK market
Guest Salski Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Wavesecure seems nice but unfortunately I was able to "crack" the lock screen using simple methods 0. "Lock" the phone using web interface or the app on the device 1. Press home button repeatedly to see the home screen 2. while seeing the home screen for a small period of time, press + sign or "add to home" button 3. voila, lock screen doesn't come back Something like this has worked for two times nices and it raises questions if the WaveSecure is so secure after all.... Well, at least the wipe always works....But it's not the same thing -salski
Guest Paul Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 I assume you've reported the issue to them, since it's a Beta and all? P

Guest Takigama Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Is there a description somewhere for android of where settings are kept? 2.6 wont go on my phone (from 2.3) without a wipe and i'd dearly love to keep my sms's and wifi (screen layout, contacts and mail settings would be nice also, but I can live without them). I think sms is /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db, but im not 100% certain.
Guest Mike Beecham Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 With regards to hacking the lock screen....I cant do it. I KNOW what the guy is on about, but within 3 or 4 seconds of accessing the Widget area, the lock screen returns.
