Guest shokka9 Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 (edited) Paul...i have PM'd you, but i also appreciate you are busy. Maybe you reply in the threads? Do you mind me using your build to make another build....if you follow me. I have seen other builds that have originated from yours, so i assume it is okay. Thanks in advance! PS - 2.6 build is VERY VERY nice, runs sweet and as smooth as butter Edited October 16, 2009 by shokka9
Guest shokka9 Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 thanks bro... i knew you would be okay with it, but i always ask for permissions, from whoever originated the goods :), learnt that on my Omnia ROMs... It pays off to be respectable and polite :( Thanks.

Guest dalim Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Does anybody else still have the text message widget bug. Where it only scrolls the last 2 messages. I find using taskiller to close messages app fixes the widget bug. Using version 2.6

I find using taskiller to close messages app fixes the widget bug. Using version 2.6 I had this when updating from 2.3 to 2.5.1 but it started working again just before going to 2.6 and is still working now. Maybe as I started deleting old messages the problem cleared itself? Edited October 16, 2009 by phillevy
Guest Takigama Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 I ended up solving my own problem partly... I dont know what is missing from 2.3 -> 2.6 upgrade on my phone, but lots of the databases are quite messed up. They all work in 2.3 though (I wiped in 2.3 originally). one example (from /data/data/com.android.providers.htcCheckin/databases/htcCheckin.db), in 2.3 - note the missing message table: sqlite> .table android_metadata events stats crashes properties and 2.6: sqlite> .table android_metadata events properties crashes message stats Fixed that and now i can get to my normal screen (without it it causes the system service thingy to crash), but it is one problem among many database related problems (lots of java exceptions in logcat too). Im curious though if something betwen 2.3 and 2.6 does some table updates?
Guest schreda Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 I have problems with Facebook pictures in Albums .. Does someone got the same issue?
Guest Perey Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Tried to update from 2.2 but I get the problem that it seems to install fine and then I get stuck in a loop when I reboot of the phone getting to the lock screen before returning to the HTC logo. Have restored using my nandroid back up but wondering what to do next? Should I wipe and then install the update, will that make a difference (as per this post > http://android.modaco.com/index.php?amp;sh...t&p=1089689 ). Thanks all :)

Initially looked like the update had worked fine, but crashed lots of forced close screens, rebooted started again okay but after a while it crashed again. Restored backup of 2.3 working fine again. Do I need to update to 2.5 first before updating to 2.6 ? WaveSecure looks like a good additional to the build so would like to get 2.6 running properly.
Guest dlzerocool Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 @Paul a little donation done :) I don't know if someone has the same problem but 2.6 seems to use a lot more battery than the previous 2.5.1. Can someone confirm this ?
Guest Keramidas Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 I don't know if someone has the same problem but 2.6 seems to use a lot more battery than the previous 2.5.1. Can someone confirm this ? No, not for me. It consumes the same power as 2.5.1 during the night. And my measurements of CPU usage show no impact from WaveSecure. Most probably you have a power-hungry application ? Have you tried measuring your CPU usage during standby ? (see my script for a way to do it)
Guest milko9000 Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 (edited) On 2.51 I'm getting that SMS widget only letting me see the top two messages as well. Not got any force close issues or anything else I've noticed though (barring my marketplace not downloading apps over wifi issue anyway). Is there a fix for the text issue? edit: yes, yes there is. Upgrading to 2.6 sorted that out. Edited October 17, 2009 by milko9000

Can someone confirm this ? I have noticed exactly the same thing. I charged my battery overnight, went to work and had to plug it in again before I went home - about 8 hours use! I was getting about a day and a half of typical use before upgrading to 2.6.

Yeah mine seems to need to be jacked in a lot more often...I just assumed it was Wave Secure. I wouldn't mind trying out "Flexilis", but then why have 2 similar apps... There's quite a few built in apps I'd remove, if only I had the confidence to do it!! LOL. Could do with a little prog on here when you select which apps you want left in the latest MCR, then that's all you get when you go to download the update.zip... Too much to ask though, Paul already puts a lot of work in to the custom rom's. :) Edited October 17, 2009 by keef319

Guest C.D. Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 (edited) Just registered so I could provide a bug report of sorts (first issue using a Modaco ROM- thanks Paul). Installed 2.6 today, after a full wipe and SD card re-format. Two issues: 1) This one is strange, but maybe I'm missing something, the notification sound is not the same as the one I select in the notifications menu. It is one of the ringers and I can't seem to change this. (still does this after reset) 2) Ran Wavesecure, setup an account and backed up my contacts and SMS. Upon returning to the Homescreen, Screens 1,2,3 were blank, 4 (middle),7 were fine, 5 had its shortcuts but had a clock beneath them (see video) that straddled two screens, 6 had music player instead of calender. I could move the widgets ontop of this new clock, but when I tried to select the clock, I got a force close. In the end, after much fiddling around I had to do a factory reset and re-format my SD card again to fix it. Suffice to say I've removed wavesecure.. Video of clock beneath widgets Edited October 17, 2009 by C.D.

Guest clarkEEE1 Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 adb remount adb shell rm com.wsandroid.apk /system/app To remove wavesecure.
Guest stalvatero Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 I have noticed exactly the same thing. I charged my battery overnight, went to work and had to plug it in again before I went home - about 8 hours use! I was getting about a day and a half of typical use before upgrading to 2.6. The same for me. Battery consumption is about 20-30% plus than 2.5.1. I think it's wavesecure too. Last night i kill all processes but wavesecure. Battery about 30%.. In the morning the phone was off (and i went work in late due the alarm i've on Hero) Now a try to delete it and monitoring the battery... Just another bug (i don't know if only me assumed that). When i write a new text sms, i tap on "to.." cell, and when typing name, a process error pop-up and the sms apps closed. So to write an sms to a new friend, i must go to Contacts -> SMS -> Write new. Last question: i had not activated the swap partition on sd (i have the 3 part Fat32+ext3+Swap). Is it necessary to do that? Or a i can leave no swap activated? Thanks too much. P.S.: Thanks Paul...great work.
