Guest raburgess Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 (edited) Just checking out dropbear SSH, I am getting the following error when trying to connect with WinSCP: "Cannot initialize SFTP protocol. Is the host running a SFTP server?" Anyone have any ideas. EDIT: Fixed now, changed from SFTP server to SCP server in the login setup. Edited October 20, 2009 by raburgess
Guest zyborg Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Any way of removing the boot sounds pack, if you're not satisfied with it? Thank you.
Guest Paul Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 To remove boot sounds, reapply the main update zip. P
Guest pettera Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 freshly updated from 2.5.1 to 2.7 about two hours ago, most things appear to work smoothly, I just have one small annoyance, the sdcard gets somehow corrupted everytime I try to add files to it from my computer, after I reboot the phone everything is fine again until the next time I mount it and add a new file. I've used 2.5.1 for a while and I've never seen this problem before today's update... when the phone argues that the card is 'unreadable' I'm still able to read it ( and any file on it ) with 'AndExplorer' even though 'Linda File Manager' reports it as 'unable to mount' I'm able to play songs from the card with the music widget If I choose to do so from AndExplorer, but if I go directly to the music widget it will just complain that it can't find any sdcard... any help appreciated...

I would also like to know is swapper worth using, as I have read that it reduces the life of the sd card and that the app itself was created mainly for the G1 and not the hero? Don't know if this is any help to you, but scp works effortless fom a linux host; did you check that you give it the right port numer (2222)? Otherwise it won't work. Anyone can lend any help?

Yeh thanks for that I thought i'd lost my SD card then I got rid of swapper using (I presume this is the right code): adb remount adb shell rm /system/app/*swapper* Everything seems to be working fine on the sd card now. Guest phillevy Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Can I just ask: Is there a way to update WaveSecure without updating the whole ROM?
Guest Andy1984UK Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Just a quick one... I think I found a small bug if someone wouldn't mind checking out. I use a htc stock widget (the small one) and it displays the coloured arrows the wrong way. When the stock goes up it displays a red arrow (should be green) and when the stock goes down it displays a green arrow (should be red). Has this happened to anyone else? I'm using the 2.6 Chinese version.
Guest raburgess Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Can I just ask: Is there a way to update WaveSecure without updating the whole ROM? You can download wavesecure from here: https://www.wavesecure.com/download.aspx Wavesecure hasn't been updated, the ROM has been updated so that Wavesecure is no longer part of the core ROM.
Guest raburgess Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Can I just ask: Is there a way to update WaveSecure without updating the whole ROM? This widget is working fine for me, all correctly coloured arrows. I'm using the core ROM though without any add ons.
Guest soopahfly Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Blisteringly fast running Swapper. 8gb Class 6 Transcend memory card, with seperate swap partition. No memory card issues.
Guest kosmiq Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Yeh thanks for that I thought i'd lost my SD card then I got rid of swapper using (I presume this is the right code): adb remount adb shell rm /system/app/*swapper* Everything seems to be working fine on the sd card now. I failed to recreate the error. On the other hand I already had swapper installed. My SD card is formatted to have a SWAP-partition that Swapper uses instead of a file. Could that be a part of the problem, that you do not have this? I connected the phone to my PC, mounted, transferred ~500mb of music, disconnected, turned of USB-storage and everything worked as intented. No errors that files could not be read and the songs played just fine in the media player. ROM feels a littler faster then 2.5.1, not sure if it really is though but it sure feels like it. Thanks for yet another GREAT work Paul! Much appreciated! :)

Much appreciated! :) I have the same swapper partition set up as you, I have used swapper before but didnt see a massive difference in performance with it enabled. I also read that it reduces the life of your sd card. I had an error when turning off mount USB, a message came up saying something like "SD Card unreadable, need to format". I also had an error as previously stated by other members where the music widget cannot access music files from the sdcard. Removing swapper from the code and a reboot seemed to sort all my problems out. Personally I think adding applications such as swapper should be at the disgression of the user there easily and readily available from the market. However saying that I am impressed with the No-Wifi icon and SSH capabilities (although having difficulties with that).
Guest kookix Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 (edited) We have to manually activate the option : "Use swap partition" in Swapper ? or let it deactivate ? If we don't use our swap partition (already created), When the option is deactivated, what swap is it use and how ? beacause when I click "Get Information" there is a swap use ! : swap 32500 Kb ?
