Guest bbawden Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Are you using Advanced Task Manager, by any chance ? Just a thought. No. Everything was working fine on the last version, just since the newest version.
Guest Paul Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 paul, some words on why you're not updating this? version 1.60pre3, which seems to be workin notably better? especially without the "your phone is in an undefined state now" msg crap? I was waiting for the full 1.60 release, but if pre3 is working well for everyone, I can update in 2.8. P
Guest Keramidas Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 (edited) I was waiting for the full 1.60 release, but if pre3 is working well for everyone, I can update in 2.8. P I would like to try Wifi Tether 1.60-pre3 too, do I just need to replace an apk in /system/app/ ? Which one is it ? Edit: Never mind, I just noticed it's installed like a normal app. PS: I noticed that /system/lib/modules/tun.ko still fails to load. Is that needed by Wifi Tether ? Guest Mark'Oh! Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Great work again, Paul. With all those add-ons probably coming sooner or later i have a suggestion to make regarding the naming scheme. Problem is, after booting into recovery image and selecting "update from any zip on SD" every update looks the same due to a character limit. So every single update, addon, etc. reads like this: "2.7-update-hero-modaco..." maybe a scheme like "[version]-[rom/addon/...)]-[packagename]-hero-modaco" would work better. just a thought. cheers.
Guest Paul Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Do any Chinese users want Google Pinyin installed in a future Chinese ROM? P

With all those add-ons probably coming sooner or later i have a suggestion to make regarding the naming scheme. So every single update, addon, etc. reads like this: "2.7-update-hero-modaco..." Just rename them....the filename is totally irrelevant...call it what you want :) I simply change it to 2.7modacorom.zip Enjoy

Guest Shahz Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Is it just me? Or is the rooted ROM not working with the HTC Sync? I made a backup of all my contacts and messages on HTC Sync, but after upgrading to the latest ROM, the HTC Sync is not working..Bug?

Guest vener Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 (edited) Do any Chinese users want Google Pinyin installed in a future Chinese ROM? P We want HTC_CIME input that works, not partially work (missing pinyin and stroke options). Google's IME is good but we can always install it via market. I fixed this with my own solution. 1. Install the English Rom 2. Apply the hero version from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512530 3. Take out relevant files from the chinese rom and adb push to it. Guest flipper203 Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 just a question, for the moment I m under modaco 2.6, do I have to do a wipe to install the version 2.7 or not?
Guest shokka9 Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 i know that. it just happened last time that i forgot to do that... and i had to randomly pick the rom update... as i said: just a thought :) As soon as it downloaded, i rename the files...as i had the same problem too ;) from 2.5, so not again, ever!! Also, i have other stuff on there, so i rename to shortest possible name, so the file can be recognised with the limited number of characters available. :(
Guest bbawden Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I've also got an problem with Google synchronization. I noticed that I wasn't getting new mails. I looked in settings > Data synchronization > Google. Everything is ticked, but the last sync times are showing as an hour ago. Looks like something's gone squiffy. Any thoughts on how to fix this, as I'll need to revert if I can't get it to work. Thanks. Anyone got any ideas on this? It does seem to be syncing every now and again, but nowhere near frequently enough. The last sync is about 30 mins ago for some reason.
Guest Keramidas Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 just a question, for the moment I m under modaco 2.6, do I have to do a wipe to install the version 2.7 or not? No, you're ready to go. Just apply the updates without wiping.

Guest ghoonk Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 weird, I installed 2.7 over 2.6 today, and on booting, it gets stuck on the SU Permissions with a blank screen with no option to allow. Suspect permissions problem, so I needed a full wipe to get the ROM working. Sadly, Android Backup by Sprite Software didn't backup and restore my SMS messages correctly, and I lost a lot of important work related messages in the last 24 hours. Let this be a lesson to all to do a Nandroid backup before flashing....
Guest vener Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Hmmm, which ROMs have a HTC_CIME.apk with pinyin and stroke? P As far as I know, the Singaporean and Malaysian (asian) roms have those.
Guest ghoonk Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 (edited) solved it. had to enable usb debug, restart, and all worked fine :) Bloody hell. Wish i read this sooner. Wiped and lost data for nothing! Paul, can you add this to your first post so that people who encounter this problem know how to fix it and not end up wiping in frustration? Let this be a lesson to all to do a Nandroid backup before flashing.... Sorry to hear about your lost SMS's... The same problem happened to me when I rooted my original HTC rom, and it never happened again. So I suspect it's a small bug in the SU Permissions app (not specific to Modaco ROM).
Guest usoska Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Hi Paul, as always, thanks for the good work. I'm still very happy with your roms, I made every update since 1.4, and never had any problem with them. However, to my mind, you shouldn't add too many "external" applications to the rom, or at least this should be optionnal. I give my feeling, but I know this one is shared with several people from different Android forum I'm on. Most people prefer to have a quick , light, and efficient custom rom, and prefer having the choice to install (or not) external applications if needed. That's a personnal advice, and doesn't mean I'm disappointed by your efforts. I really like your work, and thank you again for the possibilities you give to our Heros.
Guest kendon Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Right, that's what I do too, but if I forget to rename them *before* rebooting in recovery mode, and then connect with adb shell (in recovery mode) and rename them, the list of zip files available for flashing (in the recovery menu) is not refreshed until I reboot again - but I can't reboot directly to recovery mode (afaik) so after such a mistake, it takes two subsequent reboots and is a bit annoying :( Edit: Well, maybe a "umount /sdcard" in adb shell after renaming the zip files would do it - I haven't tried that. yeah, or you try "adb shell reboot recovery"... (works also without "recovery", i'm gonna let you find out what it does then :) )
Guest shokka9 Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 (edited) @ Paul Have to agree with some of the points made here by some users. It is nice to have apps preinstalled within a ROM update, but some of them will be unnecessary for most users. I think you should make CLEAN builds, with all the extra (JUICY) stuff as add on packs... Also, another point which was made, was the possibilty of having Server etc running etc and other protocols that could potentially be used to hack our devices...I think they should also be included in the add on pack (advanced users pack :(). The thing is, that there would need to be an add on for each individual app, when really you should do what you did earlier with the enhanced pack.... WaveSecure needs its own add on....but the majority of others could be bundled together... Anyway, just my thoughts....I dont really care that much, as i can remove what i want, when i want, so no REAL biggie for me. But congrats Paul, 2.7 is nice, nothing noticable from 2.6 (which is a good thing :)). So thanks for another good release. PS - Any idea how to INCREASE volume out of headphones for music playback?? It is far TOO low for me. I need it louder to make better use of my headphones..... Edited October 21, 2009 by shokka9
Guest MetotRon Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Paul, thank you very much for your job. Has 2 questions: after installing Enhanced MCR 2.7 in information about installed ROM on telephone it show MoDaCo Custom ROM 2.7 CORE, SSH password: - Is it ok, that after installing Enhanced ROM it wrote that installed CORE? On MCR 2.6.1 after installed Enhanced version it show Enhanced ROM 2.6.1 For what used SSH on HTC Hero and in case of I don't use, where located that APK to remove it?
