Guest FerdiBorbon Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I bought a Kingston 16gb card for my phone, when i first had the card movies over 1.5gb played smoothly, lately my movies are really choppy, and when i play the same video on "My Storage" instead it plays flawless... Does any one know if i can fix this card, or do i have to get another one? Thanks

Guest Meen Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I encode the movie at the best bitrate option in SPB Mobile DVD, and it only take about 500-700MB per movie. (The resolution is set to 800x480 as it is no good to have higher resolution than your screen res.) ps. I'm using 8GB class 4 Kingston MicroSDHC card, And it work well.

Guest alvinaloy Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 now that ive looked at my card its actually a class 2...i wonder if thats the issue That might be the issue. I got a Transcend 16GB Class 6 Micro-SD. Works pretty good for me, though I don't play any huge video file.

I'm using Class 6 8GB, Transcend has Class 6 16GB too. If buy in Singapore, 8GB is SGD38, 16GB is SGD123. HTC provide their Touch HD with Transcend Class 6 8GB for free. http://www.transcendusa.com/Products/ModDetail.asp?ModNo=195 Edited September 7, 2009 by sys_error

Guest FerdiBorbon Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Have you ever try defragment your card ? I used Pocket Mechanic Professional , please try. :) I thought it was bad to defragment your card, they are not treated like a normal pc hdd.

I'm also looking around to buy a micro sd card but I couldn't find many reviews on internet...
Guest mauisurfer Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 I would be interested in reading a review of SDHC´s, too... and is there any micro SDHC card with a capacity of 32 GB? I can´t find one on amazon :)
Guest FerdiBorbon Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Sorry i meant techpowerup :) http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AData/T...eries_16GB_SDHC i will buy this to replace my current 16gb, after my Omnia I sells :)
Guest sorg Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 (edited) 4gb will only fit me 2 movies, i encode at such high bitrates... that's the source of problem. Encode to lower bitrates. PocketPC can not handle high bitrates well enough. Also, you should follow hardware decoding limitations of Omnia II - Frame size should not exceed 720x480. Otherwise decoding will fallback to software mode where speed and quality will be worse. Typical maximum reading speed of SD cards in PocketPC is below 2MB/s. So SDHC card with any class will provide the same reading speed. Only difference is how fast you will upload files to SDHC from your PC using card reader. P.S.: SDHC class is rated by writting speed. Reading speed (movie playback) even on class 2 card can be higher than 6 MB/s. Edited September 8, 2009 by sorg

Well the movies encoded at the same bitrate i have placed on the SD card have played with no problems it only the current ones im uploading to card are giving me issues, i think the more the card gets full the tougher it is to read files... So you think even a class 6 16gb card will make no difference?

Sandisk Mobile Ultra is very fast inside the phone, in USB storage mode it's about 7MByte/s read AND write speed. file-transfers within the phone don't reach those numbers, but seeing the speed-increase compared to My Storage you can't go much faster than this. With it you get very fast write speeds also. This is because the flash technology is different, albeit a bit more expensive. See below: Sandisk Mobile Ultra: My Storage:
