Guest Catrinisin Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Does the Wifi router actually work? I have your ROM build 23049, I've never got it worked, I can connect to the router but can't go out the Internet. It seems the router can't aquire DHCP IP address. I have had the same experience as you. My computer(s), Vista, XP, Mac, Linux, (I've tried them all) can connect just fine but get no DHCP IP address from the phone. I want to try manually assigning an IP to my computer but I don't know what subnet to use. No one in any forum has been able to tell me either... The USB cable works every time so I'm sticking with that for now. The WiFi thing is convenient for when it's someone else's computer that needs internet.

I can get it to work every time after a flash. The problem is after that. I have not figured out why yet. Some of the menu buttons do not seem to work correctly so I thing we are missing something but since I don't have an HTC devices with this on it I have yet to figure it out. I will keep looking though.
Guest DeepBlueEditor Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 One of the things I do pretty much right after a flash, like tonight, is use SPB backup to restore pretty much everything. I am getting one or two odd things. First, I still have an icon for Microsoft Money that shows up in my applications menu (the main one with the honeycomb) but it actually opens Microsoft Weather. Is this something that might be getting goofed in the restore process that changes the title of this icon to MS Money, since nobody else seems to be seeing this. How would one change that back or change it to something like MS Weather for the title that goes with the icon? Not sure how that's happening. Second, and this was with the previous WM7 build, if I change the settings for the battery power to use say a 5 minute time out on the brightness, it would eventually revert to a blank instead of saying 5 min in the box and it would cause the display to dim after about 5 seconds of inactivity. Again, that could be due to reloading all settings including the registry from SPB backup. Last, I have it set to do the 3 column but am thinking I might like to reverse that now and go back to the standard 4 honeycomb. Where was that setting and what should it be to get back to the normal? I do still like a black theme and may installe the black/Russian dialler again. The blue is cool but a bit too vibrant for me. i still like the elegant sleekness of the black theme, for now. Anyone using an all black theme? What did you use and how did you get there? BW, this one is better than the last one as the touch screen is nicer in sensitivity and it just seems smoother all around. Good show, as always. S

S Restoring backups in 6.5 does seem to cause more issues than when using 6.1. It's quite possible that something has changed in 6.5 that is causing this issue but I don't know that for certain. I have seen evidence of this in all kinds of 6.5 ROMs not just mine. I typically no longer restore when I do a flash and use XDA_UC to reinstall all of the programs I need back. It will also change registry settings, so I don't really need to restore anymore. If you installed the 3 column cab in the first post all you need to do is uninstall it and you should be good to go. Glad you like the ROM. :)
Guest blazingwolf Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Because everyone seems to want it even though it is having issues. Black i900 dialer.VEKKIO_dialer_for_i910.cab

Guest blazingwolf Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 i900 dialer that was supposed to be included with this ROM.TM_BW_Dialer.cab
Guest RyanTheTragic13 Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Here's something interesting I noticed with the 23052 build rom. When you hit the "contacts" soft key, select a contact and then select "text message", rather than taking you to a new message for that contact, you are taken to the "messaging" page where it lists text message, email accounts, mms, and setup email. So in essence, the only way to send a text message to someone that is not in your text message history or threaded texts is to open "text messages" and then the "menu" soft key and then "new" and then the "menu" soft key again and finally "add recipient" in order to get to your list of contacts so that you can choose one for the message. Very strange and a lot more button presses. I never sent messages in this way so it really stopped me in my tracks when my way no longer worked. Anyone else notice this?
Guest reaver76 Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Has anyone found an in call lock that has minimal or no bugs. I tried the Chombit lock but I couldn't deal with the side keys breaking.

(ipconfig /all) I'm curious if it uses a private or public IP range. If private, I should be able to try assigning a static IP to my WiFi adapter when I connect to the phone. (This will test if the issue is purely with the DHCP portion of the WiFiRouter program, or if the issue is deeper.) Thanks

Guest BrianPick Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 You gotta be careful about saying things like "This will be in the next ROM" ! The response is almost Pavlovian and we can't help but have antcicpation set in.
Guest Tim J Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 I have been reading and lurking for many months. I liked my OMNIA from the first time I used it, but you have made it a much better phone and PDA. I appreciate all the work you have done as you have made my iPhone buddies very jealous!!!!! I am currently running your 1.4 version and have it set up like I want. I want to upgrade but I don't have the time to tweak like some of these other guys. I understand the WM7 is a newer ROM, but I have also read that the programs I use the most are still having the most problems. I was just curious as to which programs give me the functionality I enjoy. Are the sliding screens and widgets part of the SPB application and therefore NOT in your Blue ROM yet? I love the ROMS and I use them but as of yet I have not learned which programs do what, and which functions are built into the phone and which are added by you and the applications. Not asking for explaination on all the applications, but only the shell programs like SPB and "Titanium?" I hope my question does not make me look too much like a newbie....but ya have to start somewhere..Thanks
Guest jagnfly Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Are the sliding screens and widgets part of the SPB application and therefore NOT in your Blue ROM yet? Not asking for explaination on all the applications, but only the shell programs like SPB and "Titanium?" The 'sliding screens and widgets' you mention sound like you're talking about the Lifestyle page of SPB Mobile Shell 3, where you can thumb the page left and right and the background picture floats a little but all the widgets on the page slide to the next page. If you are using BW's Night 1.4 MS3 ROM, then you wouldn't don't have Titanum installed. This WM7 ROM does not currently have an MS3 version, but you can install the MS3 Shell on top and set it up exactly as you have now (think of it like a dual boot of sorts - 2 different GUIs that you can easily switch back and forth between.) I have mine set up this way. The only issue I currenly see with MS3 is there is a small strip at the bottom of the Lifestyle screen that the backgound image no longer covers for some reason. If you install any widget packs like I have here, you have to use the original cab files, and not the ones Blazingwolf adjusted to work with the OEM version of MS3 - they install to the wrong location for the retail version. Of course, the first post has images of the Titanium UI

I hope my question does not make me look too much like a newbie....but ya have to start somewhere..Thanks The shell program you are referring to is spb Mobile Shell 3. Commonly referred to as MS3 on the forums. This new ROM does not include MS3. However you can install MS3 on top of this ROM and it works just fine. I personally run MS3 and love it, even on this new ROM. You will have to tweak your settings though if you choose to flash to this ROM since it will erase everything from the device memory. I.E. Email settings, power settings, etc. Be sure to back up your pictures, contacts, any docs you want to save, etc. As far as program functionality, it is very similar to the 1.4 ROM but has been improved upon. I think you will like the enhancements so go for it! EDIT: jagnfly beat me to the punch here but he brought up a good point. There is that small issue with the background image, but also there is no start button when viewing the Lifestyle homepage. I mapped the start menu to one of the external buttons to get around this. Guest jagnfly Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 I mapped the start menu to one of the external buttons to get around this. Or you could just use MS3's 'Launcher' - an alphabetized start menu. This ROM has been really stable for me and I am enjoying all the enhancements :)
Guest S. Geezy Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 i900 dialer that was supposed to be included with this ROM. First I would like to say thank you for the very nice ROMs you have been putting out. :) I was just about to give up on the OMNIA now I think this is the best phone out there. I do have one question though, How do I get rid of the scrolling bar on the right side of the screen? I installed this blue dialer on your latest ROM.

The only way right now is to remove all vertical scrollbars through Advanced Config. That option is under the user interface area.

Guest BrianPick Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 (edited) So got any new ROM teasers ? I hear about some bleeding edge builds floating around. Edited September 22, 2009 by BrianPick
Guest poloa Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 :) imho, the only thing missingthat would make your ROM perfect (forme, like taht matters) is a black dialer or teh origianl sammy in black that works properly
Guest Grassguy Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 (edited) AutoCallLocker. Will be in the next ROM. :) http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-h...autocalllocker/ Hey BW, what setting do you have with AutoCallLocker? I can't get it to unlock when using the accelerometer in a call after it's locked. It will unlock with the light sensor. If you use the light sensor, what do you have it set at? Mines at 50 and seems to work outside and in my office. Also, did you get it to work with the sammy dialer (not that i'd use it with it) it does the opposite of what it should, unlocks at your ear and locks when not. Edited September 22, 2009 by Grassguy
