Guest sojrner Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 I can't help with this. I don't have the knowledge needed to hack the dll to remove it. ya, I understand... you never know until you ask though right? I just knew I didn't have the know-how either. Oh well... I suppose if that is the only lame m$ decision I have to deal w/ then I'm doing alright. :)
Guest sojrner Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 ok BW, I did find some stuff on samsung-omnia.org... seems that I just did not do the RIGHT search. Stupid google. ;-) here is the thread: http://www.samsung-omnia.org/how-to/%27cha...cation-on-i910/ but the basic idea is this: Edit the registry to allow changes to the alert here - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\Default Add a new string value, name = "Default", value = "Whatever you want to call the alarm". Soft Reset and then go into sounds/notifications settings and that new name shows up as an option. This allows editing of that setting and can turn off the initial notification, BUT there seems to be another alarm that sounds right after it. This may... MAY need to be altered as well. The file is alarm2.wav according to the thread there (page 4) and the only solution they found was to replace it with a blank file. I've already tried the reg edit and am testing it out now. I'll let you know if that alone fixes things and what I find. rock on.
Guest Stealth Pope Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Hey BW, might you have a CAB that will give you the black Samsung Volume control that you used to have on your older ROMs? I like the one that goes with the Easy Settings thats on this Night ROM.

Guest DeepBlueEditor Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 FYI, for some reason I noticed today that I am no longer getting the battery charged notification at all. Not that I mind not hearing it but it seems odd it just stopped. I did add the Samsung keyboard and the black mod I posted a few notes back. Since I have added things like Google Maps, etc but I may also have turned off the notification in my playing around. Somehow I get no notification now of a full charge. Odd huh? Still looking for a way to connect ThumbCal to the calendar applet thingy on the Home screen. I moved ot to the top of the menu so it's not a big deal. By the way, the newer Pay for versions of ThumbCal are pretty decked out. All sorts of stuff in there. Free 14 day demo at the site but the older one was free, when you can find it. S.
Guest DeepBlueEditor Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) Other small notes... One - some screens it seems I can't back out of. I can hit OK all day in the phone settings when selecting to allow Location under GPS. It just gets stuck and won;t let me out so I have to hit the hardware keys to break out of the screen. I have this issue with setting up emergency numbers too. It's stuck right now on the screen where you register the emergency numbers you can call when locked. OK just doesn't clear the screen. Second - since installing a few apps and making some minor additions, the phone has died the last 2 nights on me at some point while "resting". both times I had to pull the battery to get it going again. Will see what happens tonight. Also, occasionally, especially after a reboot, forced or not, the optical mouse no longer scrolls apps left/right. I use it to move between email accounts and on the home screen. It is always fixed with another reboot it seems. S. Edited October 8, 2009 by DeepBlueEditor
Guest ChrisColumbus Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Blazing does the auto call lock that was in the original rom not work with 6.5?? BTW just so everyone knows.... i replaced my digitizer today.. I got my omnia 1 week after it hit shelves with verizon so it almost a year old i guess and OMG.. I know they are different.. The original sucks for real..!!! I have and extream guard screen protector on it as well and you can barely hit the screen and it moves.. it very very different..  just so everyone knows.. @ 18.00 and 30 mins of time.. Its like a totally different phone now
Guest sojrner Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 That never worked for me. Maybe you can figure it out though. by "never worked" do you mean you could not get the setting to show up or the changing of that setting menu did not work? Just curious.

You need to goto the buttons setting and make one button OK/Close. After you do the GPS settings and use the button, you can change the button back to what it was or whatever you want it to be. As far as the Emergency contacts.... I have never set them up so I can't help there.

As mentioned already just soft reset using psShutXP or the rest hole after 30 seconds. You can also slave the OK button to a hard key. Please read the first post as this is covered. Emergency contact numbers? Where s that at? (sorry, been up most of the night because of work so I'm a little fuzzy right now) Edit: Yep same issue with this screen. I just put OK\Close on a hard button and then used that to get out of this screen. Then I change the hard key back to what it was originally set at. :) 2. Sounds like an app you installed is crashing. You will need to figure out which one it is. 3. Hmm, haven't seen this but then I use the screen and not the tiny button to do this. Guest blazingwolf Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 by "never worked" do you mean you could not get the setting to show up or the changing of that setting menu did not work? Just curious. Means the setting never worked to turn the sound off.
Guest rcicu Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 That never worked for me. Maybe you can figure it out though. This is what I do when I flash: Import the "Charge Complete Notification.reg" and then copy the "Notify.wav" and "Notify2.wav" to the /Windows directory. The .Reg removes the first notification and the "Notify.wav" is blank and the "Notify2.wav" is just the renamed Notify.wav so that I can continue using the sound. Good Luck,Charge_Complete_Notification.rar
Guest sojrner Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) Means the setting never worked to turn the sound off. Yes, that change I listed did not turn everything off, so definitely the blank sound file is needed just like rcicu posted and potentially the reg edit I did is not correct. @rcicu: that reg edit you have is the same as what I did, but I'll try it anyway. Edit: in order to copy the Notify.wav into the windows dir is to first name it something else (e.g. NotifyTemp) and then copy it there from your PC. Then on the phone rename it back to Notify, which overwrites the original. Soft reset after all of it and it seems to work. Edited October 8, 2009 by sojrner
Guest tsp2jxd Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 I'm not able to install google maps on this build. Anyone else? Says that the install is not successful. Visiting m.google.com/maps says the google maps application does not work on my phone. I just hard reset main memory and mystorage, installed blue 25053, synced with myphone (including applying new update) installed MS3.5. Then tried to install google maps. Anyone see this before?

I had no problems installing google maps to device memory on a clean install. Although I cant get youtube installed through IE, says its incompatible with my OS.

I run this ROM with MS3.5 and Google Maps installs fine. It is one of the first things I install and I install to device memory. The Youtube app runs fine for me too, not youtube.com, but the actual app.

Its like a totally different phone now Hmmmm. I have thought about replacing my digitizer myself. While my phone is very responsive now thanks to the great roms by BW, I still MUST use my fingernail for any/all activities. I was under the impression that everyone with an Omnia must be using at least part of their fingernail to make selections. Do you still need to? I, too, bought my phone about 10-11 months ago, so I am wondering if the new digitizer will help? Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions? As I said, my phone is very responsive, but I still need to use the tip of my fingernail to get it to work. If I do not use any fingernail, it simply does not respond?

So here's what transpired... I had the latest version of googlemaps on my storage card and it would not install from there to device memory (or anywhere). Using Opera I received the message that google maps application does not work on my phone as noted above and I could use the web version if I wanted. I used IE to go to m.google.com/maps and the map icon offered the "Install Now" option. In Opera that link was called "Visit Now" and that would take you to the web version. So it installed normally when I used IE. I have always used Opera and never had that problem before. If anyone has an explanation I'd love to hear it.

It is very very close to iPhone responsiveness. There area few people I know who bought there Omnia close to the same time as me and have not replaced there digitizer. When I compare my Omnia with theirs they immediately think there phone is defective. I helped one of them replace their digitizer and he couldn't be more happy. Anyone that bought the Omnia when it first came out needs to either get a replacement or replace the digitizer themselves. You will be extremely happy you did. I know the Omnia 2 is coming out soon but since my phone works exactly the way I want it to, I could care less.

Here is a thought: did you have it previously installed on the storage memory? I ask because if you still have the install dir there it might create problems on the install... removing installed program files or doing a reset on the storage could relieve that. The fact that IE worked might be explained that IE installed it to a different directory? not sure if that is the reason, but you might start looking there...

I know the Omnia 2 is coming out soon but since my phone works exactly the way I want it to, I could care less. So if I got my Omnia in July 2009, do I already have the newer digitizer? The phone responsiveness seems okay but I have not compared it to an older Omnia. Does the digitizer wear out after a while and need to be replaced? I guess what I am asking is, are the old ones just wearing out and replacing them fixes that, or are the newer ones better to begin with? Thanks
Guest ChrisColumbus Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 this is actually funny I was testing things out to move and my phone will scroll now with a napkin (a paper towel).. I know my phone is at least 11-12 months old so not sure if July 2009 digitizer would be the same...
