Yea, it's nice to be able to customize your GUI any way to like it, but it really only changes a few screens. Ultimately we revert back to the Windows GUI.
Guest scubamike Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 I am running Wisbar Advanced Desktop because you can literally create or recreate ANY interface you like with any buttons, pages, info, etc... I used to 2.2 for the longest time on my I910. Now I am a beta tester for 2.4. I'll never run a WinMo phone without "WAD".
Guest pfonck Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 (edited) The reason I bought a Windows Mobile phone is because of it's superior PIM applications compared to anything else on the market today. Therefore I'm a bit disappointed none of the new slick new interfaces deliver a proper agenda/tasks screen so far, and that's why I'm still using WM6.1 with SBSH Pocketbreeze on the today screen, covered by a smooth running layer of iPhoneToday which takes care of the easy application launching. That way I've got a "finger-friendly" interface for the phone- and multimedia stuff but the power and productivity of good old WM6.1 under the hood. Just must never forget to leave my stylus at home ;-) The closest thing I've seen so far is PointUI/Sense with a productivity widget but still far removed from PocketBreeze when we're talking PIM functionality, but IMHO it's still not developed and fast enough for day-to-day use. The iPhone inspired interfaces like Winterface and iPhoneToday aren't bad at all, you get all the important info and launch all your favourite apps crammed into a single screen, while it doesn't look cluttered at all. If you have PointUI, one of their applets features a (crappy) task manager. It simply masks the tasks program and just allows you to see what tasks are coming up, ect. I don't believe it has a sort by feature or anything like that. But it allows you to touch the tasks and then it opens the task program to see the information, ect. I just like the standard WM task manager program. It gets the job done and allows different task sorting options.
Guest sudkcoce Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) I use Qbus 07 rom and the TouchFlow that came with it (Manilla 2D?) Then I have the i c o n so ft p h o n e x installed. That combo convinced me I was not stupid to buy the Omnia i900. It works PERFECT, it even makes me happy not to have bought the iPhone... Other stuff on my phone: - Finger Keyboard (with XL keys) - Persian Blue bluettoth manager (Omnia's own BT was buggy, now it works...) - TorchButton (so I can assign the flashlight to camera-long-press) ;o) - Samsung task switcher (cause its fast, have it on short-menu-press) - TouchCal and G-Alarm (cause i like them) - iGO Navigation - NO DATA app Edited October 5, 2009 by sudkcoce
Guest Koofteh Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 - TorchButton (so I can assign the flashlight to camera-long-press) ;o) I see lots of people using TorchButton on the Omnia... but what's the point, given you can just set the volume rocker to turn on the flash? I'm just curious, seen lots of people say they have it installed.
Guest dragonriot Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 I actually recently recommended someone try this out in another thread. Is that the older version you're running? The screenshots on their site look like they've revamped it... I agree, it's a really good UI and I used it on a couple different winmo phones, but I had problems with it hiding my lock screen so that I couldn't see the keypad or covering other winmo screens and when it did this the graphics would get a bit glitchy. I had the same problem with sms chat... I was going to try the newer version to check it out though... I actually own a license but I doubt i could find my key anymore. Here's some new pics from their site. These are the OTHER theme for Winterface... There is a Black theme, and a Light theme, the Light theme having giant buttons, and not looking nearly as cool. I had Winterface for a while, but it started to bug out, every time I pressed a button, it would bring up the "About" screen instead of the application I wanted to run... I had it for over a month, and fell in love with it. Couldn't fix the issue though, so I uninstalled it.

Or you'd have to minimize/exit the GUI and go back to the Today screen to use it.

Vista, Manila, Windows 6.5, etc can all be made to your liking with WAD :)
