Guest PUstudentNDfan Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 First off I want to say that this is by far the best rom I have tried and I can tell that you put a lot of work in to it. However I do have two minor problems. I currently have build V23102 with MS Voice & TellMe cooked in. My first problem is that I cannot change the sounds for ringtone/text message notification/etc. I change them and they automatically revert back to the defaults. My next problem is that the "faves" page on the homescreen only allows me to choose apps from a select group of microsoft apps and none that I have installed. I have a feeling that one is more a problem with how I am operating it and less about the build. If someone could lend me a hand I would appreciate it. Thank you for any replies and for the wonderful rom.

Save an audio file you want as your ringtone anywhere on the device, my storage, or storage card (if you have one) Use File Explorer to locate your ringtone file Press and hold in File Explorer on audio file Set as Ringtone For the "Faves" page, get CHome Editor and get rid of it. There are a ton of other Titanium plugins that work better. Or you can be like me and just have weather, clock, notifications, and calendar on the home screen (i like to see more of my background) and customize your start menu via: File Explorer > Windows > Start Menu > Programs ... create your own folders (ie Connect, Media, GPS, etc), cut/paste the apps into each folder, go back to your nice and clean, organized start menu.. then flash to something else and do it all again. lol i also have an Applications titanium plugin that I change the text to say "My Omnia" - looks cool and impresses my co-workers who never thought this device was capable of doing so much.
Guest tedkord Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) Lioryte, got 28223 flashed. Seems very stable, and quick. I'm coming off Evidence/Mastergreeny's deja entendu build, which was a very good ROM for me, which lately had gotten buggy. This seems like a great replacement for me. Thanks for your time and effort. Got a couple of questions, if you don't mind. With all the same apps loaded, and the exact same configuration, I've got about 10-15mb less RAM free. Is that due to tweaks you've cooked in? Doesn't seem to affect speed/responsiveness, but I was just curious why it would happen. Also, did you work on the CDMA radio drivers? Or the way signal strength is shown? Because, I'm showing more bars at all times than I did on every ROM prior. I am showing 4 bars EVDO outside my local supermarket, where I used to get 1, maybe 2 occasionally. Of course, with the fresh flash, I had to re-program with *228, so maybe there's new roaming programming responsible. (As I sit here in my house, I'm show 2-3 bars EVDO - used to show none) Or maybe it's Lisbians new taskbar, which I installed. Anyway, if my signal strength is better, no complaints about that! Guest sbpetro Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 One issue with 28233 - when i first started to use it I noticed that the touch screen was a little out of calibration. I went into the screen calibration program and programmed it....at least I tried too. Once in the program I got a continual loop. When I got to the last cross-hair to touch it would go back to the original cross-hair in the middle. So far that is the only issue. 28233 seem to be fast and very stable!!!
Guest jezze boi Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 24001 lightning fast. I mean so fast it's like someone lit a fire up under my phone's as..butt. messaging menu freezing frequently -open, view an email, close email and can't change with directional key to other account or message *battery does not last more than a few hours with moderate screen on/off use (really, just turn screen on, check time, back off) will try another once i'm home hmm... strange i'm currently using 24001 and my battery seems to be normal and last for about two days the only time the battery depletes is when I soft reset (drops by about 20%) I was listening to music using S2P. Listened to four songs (average of 4 minutes each) and the battery only went down by 2% I don't know what is causing your issue that sounds like what happened to me with 23517 and 23518

I changed my email accounts to check more frequently. That and my device is over a year old now. Battery is probably not as good as it once was.
Guest btben Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 I've been using 24001 for about 24 hrs and I have lost 2 or 3 calls at times when I have 2 or more bars of reception. At first I thought it was coincidence, but after loosing another call in my bedroom where I make calls all the time, I am guessing it is the build. Now I've got to decide between 28223 and 23102.

I have Titanium Weather running, a Gmail account set to check every 30 minutes, and a corporate Exchange account set to push, with my display set as low as possible. I am lucky if my battery lasts 14 hours.

Maybe it's because I haven't set my hotmail account to update automatically i don't use Titanium Weather I use SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.3 with Sense it lasts long enough for about two days or less, but more than 24 hours. EDIT: got a lockup while logging on to Facebook. if i get two more lockups, then I will be moving to 28223 (23102 has the camera font issue and I don't know any good advantages over 28223) Edited February 3, 2010 by jezze boi
Guest Wayward_Son Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Just installed 28223. I love the speed. But where do I turn on GPS location? I can't find it, is there a cab?
Guest Chimp Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Lioryte, Thanks, your 28223 build is working great here. As far as themes go, however, do you know of one that has the bottom buttons skinned and is a pure black type of theme? I tried one from Paul Bronowiecki that I really liked (XDA Site - Paul's Themes) but for some reason when this theme is selected it screws up the main page (screens don't display, scrolling leaves behind remnants, etc). I'd like to have a pure black type of theme that has the buttons skinned, but only one that works with this build and your ROM. Any ideas? Or can you take a look at Paul's themes and see why they are acting up on your build? I believe I used these on Storm's ROM and they worked OK. Thanks. /Chimp
Guest Chimp Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Lioryte, Another question: Once thing I really miss about the 235xx builds is the threaded (and preview) email app. Any chance of getting that in the 28223 build? /Chimp
Guest Stevenlomb Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Weather Updates are one of the biggest drains on your battery, regardless of which ROM you are running. My 2 cents. I'm still on 28205, but it lasts and lasts... and lasts!
Guest Wongway Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 I might be a bit of an idiot here... (It's been a long while since I've used a new ROM. The last one I used was a WoZZeR ROM based on the leaked Verizon ROM, not the current CF03) At this point, I notice that GPS settings seem to take forever to get a lock. Things are enabled, for COM8 and Windows to automatically handle them, but I don't get a GPS lock anywhere near the same time I used to. Is there another cab I need to install? Lioryte, I do want to say, I love how this ROM is so basic and modular! You kept things down to a bare minimum but very functional with some nice themes if you wanted to keep the default WM6.5 settings! A huge jump in quality of ROM compared to what I used to use!

I'm still on 28205, but it lasts and lasts... and lasts! +1 turn off all auto update and battery last two days -end of 2nd down to 10% lioryte's 28205 one of best (imho) but everyone knows that, i hope most have donated a stout or two for his endless support here lioryte thanks again for sharing your hard work
Guest geekboy2005 Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 tried all the different roms like 24001 and 28223 as well as 23102 but i must say 28223 is my top choice only cuz of the font problem in 23102 but lioryte has really out did himself with all of his roms and like other responses here always look for his first keep up the good work with out you and other chefs omnia would just be a boring piece of equipment and not the fun we all have flashing
Guest Vudugan Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Bin file error flashing from 23102 to 28223... Both tellme versions....
Guest Vudugan Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Call me lucky I guess, 28223 doesnt want to work for me. After 4 tries and getting Bin errors I tried flashing back to 23102 and well.. it worked. Very Strange but it aint bricked!
Guest tedkord Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 On the 28223 Tell Me/Voice ROM, I don't have a menu icon in e-mail. I have the trash can for deleting mesages, but not the other icon for other actions. I can click there and get the menu, but the icon doesn't show. Any way I can get it back without re-flashing?
Guest cac2us Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 I have been running 28223 from the time it was available and it's been screamin fast and great on power.
Guest Chimp Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Ok, exactly what is the 23102 build? I don't see anything at the beginning describing this build. Is it new? From which branch? Does it include things the other builds don't? /Chimp
