If I am looking for the following (see criteria below), which build is the better build (23529 or 28230)? I have looked but cannot find this type of comparison. If this comparison has already been done can anyone point me in the right direction? Any help would be appreciated.

Evaluation Criteria

====================

- Responsiveness (speed of reaction to user input)

- Battery life (battery lasts longer)

- Best built in features (like conversations in Outlook)

- Performance (general system speed)

I had a great experience with 23102. Currently on 28230 and it's about the same but I'm having crashes and slow downs. I'm going to move to 28223 for now (I feel bad when I can't deal with "the latest" and it's rare when I go backwards).

I have not tried 23529, but have used 235** before and was not pleased due to scrolling in email. If that is fixed, it's decent, but I am not a fan.

Ugh, maybe I'll flash 23529 now and see how it goes the next few days.

In short, to meet your criteria...

Personally have flashed and would recommend: 23102

Recommend off of previous builds and feedback: 28223 (mainly because 28205, a predecessor, is probably still #1 in my book)

Use caution / seek others opinion: 23529

Personally do not suggest: 24001 / 25001 - great for speed, but they are so fast it will drain your battery in hours (personal experience)

Disclaimer: Phone is over a year old. Battery may be worn out more than yours. All my installs and setups follow the same procedure. I judge on accuracy, crashes/freezing, delays, and battery life under the same conditions I use my phone for. Your experience may differ.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I have been using 23102, after trying 24001 with the same results.

The only very minor thing with 23102 is the ugly bold text if you activate the camera in portrait orientation.

If you start the camera in landscape the text on the camera options is OK.

Other than that also recommend 23102, it is fast, stable and a lot better battery life than 24001.

Have read that 28223 is also very fast, stable, app friendly, but with average battery life.(I am being kind, the original poster call it "a battery sipper")

Now, looking forward to test 23534 or 23540.

I recently installed the latest base rom 28230. It was working great, until I tried to install Smartlock nv1.9B. For some reason it is freezing now? I never used smartlock before, so I thought I would try it. Now, I need to remove it, but can't seem to figure out how to uninstall it. Does anyone know how to uninstall smartlock, or can you point me in the direction of some instructions since I can't seem to find them anywhere?

+1 for 23102

I have to admit, having dealt with so many goofy instabilities and bugs with the original Omnia software and a few other ROMS, I'm frankly afraid to flash to another ROM since this has been so stable.

I used to run BW's roms. Then, I finally switched to Storms a few weeks ago. Got the itch to flash, and went with the latest 28230. I have not had any problems with it. I format backup and restore My Storage each flash. I also use MS3 on top. Works very well. I have to admit, the Titanium screen actually seemed much smoother than any others I have tried before. I just don't care for Titanium, and prefer MS3. Just my opinion.

Of course, I can't tell you how much of a difference there is between it and what you are running. May be negligible, but I know I am happy.

All credits to Lioryte, as I think this rom is great!

On a COMPLETELY different topic.... Does anyone have a google voice invite they could send my way? :(

I would like to flash to your rom but it still shows a blank screen. I hear all the sounds though.

When I flashed 28230, I noticed that after the startup sounds that the screen was black. I gave the power button a short tap and the screen showed the "tap the toolbar" (or whatever), so I tapped it and all has been fine.

I think my phone just wanted a quick nap.

My latest personal experience has been with 23529. It has been the best on battery use. Speed is great as is screen sensitivity. I have to add a caveat, however. I have been running SPB 3.5.3 on top of the ROM and I get conversational emails and also something called 3D email. Pretty cool. The conversation may just be part of the ROM lioryte cooked. No matter. The ROM as been as stable as most if not better. Been using for 3-4 weeks and the worst I can says is, twice, after no use, just sitting idle, I could not get the home screen (any, to be exact) without using the soft reset button. I am convince Liorytes ROMs are the best out there, bar none. He pays attention to details and is very exacting. Nothing released unless he is satisfied it is working well. I like the quality control.

@gruber47 indeed. So much space to play with!

@cac2us I'll give it another try when I get home from the office.

@lioryte Any news on a new ROM?

i'll vouch for 23529 now having used it

weird issue where i can't scroll up or down in the inbox with the directional sensor but only when accessing it from... if i have multiple emails and click left soft key "area" to view my inbox

not a deal breaker and i like the threaded email. it's... different.

anyone use a program to protect against rootkits?

saw "scientists" at rutgers were able to do some pretty nasty things with smartphones.

"New" security threat against smartphones

although, i'm not sure how new this really is. just an article from yesterday.

I can assure you that is not the case. The images are from the group we are in- (chefs).

Thanks, that is the reason I didn't post 23540 it was giving me random issues (AKA sleep of death)

Sorry didn't have that much time to look into 28232, it's all new release. I'll try to post 23541 tonight as per Da_G the "sleep of death" issue should be resolved.

Sorry again for the lack of support lately.

Thanks for the reply. What is the biggest capability difference between 21*** and 23***? Just sounds like I would be taking a huge leap backwards. Thanks again for the help.
