Guest .Ejekt Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Lioryte, any chance you'll be coming back with some DC22 ROMs?
Guest lioryte Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Lioryte, any chance you'll be coming back with some DC22 ROMs? Sorry but no. My time is very limited at the moment and so I use whatever time I have to get to know/ learn about Android. WM as we know it is at a dead end (I think) My next device will be an android one, not sure which one though :) I did post my OEM for everyone to use- So once one compares the stock DC22 OEM to the one I posted one can make a complete duplicate of my CF03 ROM. Later, sorry I can't be more helpful
Guest marioval Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 How would one re-calibrate the touch screen? It appears the screen calibration has been removed or disabled? Is there a way to add it back? Is there any 3rd party apps to recalibrate the screen? Thanks.

Guest marioval Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 Start settings system screen and hit align screen. newb. Obviously I tried that already. Going to the screen alignment utility does nothing. Thats why I posted my question.

Later, sorry I can't be more helpful sorry to see you go, you were one of the great ROM chefs for the Omnia and everyone owes you a debt of gratitude for making our phones so much better. I understand the time thing. Android will be very tempting, but i may hold out for WM7. Android seems like a glorified SPB MS and WM7 looks like a game changer. I can get a new phone in Aug and dont know if i can wait 3 or 4 months for WM7. My question to my Verizon rep is going to be about the new 4g phones in 2011. Will i then have to wait til 2012 to get a 4g phone? Very confusing and frustrating. Last question from me - what was your favorite ROM build?
Guest tom999 Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 Can someone tell me if Skype works with this ROM. I've tried to install it a few times and it hangs each time. I have to soft boot. Should I let it sit even longer? I believe I have the latest WM Skype (no longer supported), it's worked on other ROMs. Thanks. I'm travelling overseas and really need this. tom

"Unfortunately, Skype Lite – a version of Skype for your mobile phone – and Skype for Windows Mobile are no longer available for download from our site. We’ve chosen to withdraw Skype Lite and Skype for Windows Mobile because we want to offer our new customers an improved mobile experience – much like the version that has proved so popular on the iPhone, and which is now available on Symbian phones. Our focus is on providing a rich user experience that allows you to enjoy free Skype-to-Skype and low cost calls as easily on the move as you do at your desktop. We felt that Skype Lite and Skype for Windows Mobile were not offering the best possible Skype experience."
Guest jaycarl Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Since my favorite chef (Lioryte of course) no longer is cooking for the Omnia, I decided to jump on the O2. The O2 using a cooked rom is crazy fast and the screen is beautiful. The O1 has better functionality then any android phone, the O2 makes them all look stupid. This weekend I downloaded a movie using my O2 (can do it on O1 as well) with wmwifirouter on my netbook. Transferred the movie file to my SD card on my O2. Used the TV-out function to connect my O2 to my sisters Plasma ($5 cable on ebay). Played a 2hr movie with only 10% battery drain. Quality of movie was no different then using a DVD player. Everyone was amazed I was using my phone to play a movie on the plasma. They were really amazed when I was surfing the web on the plasma. Name one android device that can do that? Of course I can go on and on but I won't. WM is meant for people that need there phone to be more then just a phone. Which is why I will always choose WM. If it wasn't for people like Lioryte, this would not be the case. When a Android device is rooted the comparison is closer, but still there isn't a way to wireless tether on a android device which completely kills it for me. In the future though, android devices will have everything WM has but until then I'm not interested. Thank you Lioryte for all your help and hard work. If Android ever has a chance to win me over they are going to need creative people like you to make their products better.

If Android ever has a chance to win me over they are going to need creative people like you to make their products better. Well, once Lioryte stopped making ROMs, I looked towards upgrading, and jumped to the Droid. I just wanted to chip in a few things without stirring up a flame fest or anything, but I would have to say that Jaycarl is possibly misinformed as to the capabilities of an Android phone these days... As to the movie example? HTC Droid Incredible. As for needing a phone to be more than just a phone? Any non-rooted Android phone would fit the bill nicely. Wireless Tether? Can do it without rooting for a price. Can do it for free if you're rooted. Heck, anything and everything I used to compile together with ROMs (which, by the way, Lioryte, you were one of the best out there!) to get more usability and usefulness out of the phone, came stock with the Motorola Droid I eventually went with. I still haven't bothered rooting the phone since I've yet to run across something I want to do that can't be handled by a free app. Possibly, maybe you haven't seen a more recent Android phone? I'm not sure. However, as an example(s) of what I've been able to do with my Droid... Utilized with the car mount, I have navigated to new restaurants all over the city through the use of Urban Spoon (to find a random restaurant) and Google Maps Navigation to get me there, all while having Pandora for internet radio streaming into my car. In contrast with my Omnia, I had to search through not so easy channels to get a decent Navigation system (Garmin Nuvi XT) which worked about 70% of the time without freezing up the phone. And if I happened to get a phone call at the precise wrong time where the phone was busy rerouting me, I'd get a complete freeze out and have to insert a pin and restart the phone while driving. Oh, and never mind the fact I had to get some silly dongle to even begin to think about running a regular audio cord into the AUX input of my car. Don't forget the fact that in reality, we can't even utilize the stock WM6.5 Internet Explorer to try to browse web pages. Opera was the browser of choice for both Speed and Feature set. While there was a time that Windows Mobile was a phone of choice if you wanted your phone to be more than just a phone, these days, the advent of Apple's iPhone and Google's Android interfaces let you do almost everything you would have asked a WM phone to do and more that you never realized you COULD do with a phone, all while giving you a fast and smooth interface that most Windows Phones would be jealous of. Heck, even Balmer has gone on record stating that Windows Mobile has pretty much missed a whole generation of development. Don't get me wrong, it's good that you're happy with your Omnia2, Jaycarl. I know I seriously considered getting one of those as well. But the end result was that in my own personal case, the ability of a Windows Mobile phone to keep up with what I'm able to do these days on an Android phone, just isn't there.
Guest tedkord Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 There's only one thing an android phone can't do that a winmo phone can - stream my slingbox. Unfortunately, that's a deal breaker for me. I know that will change, but until then, I'm a winmo feller.
Guest robertjm Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 Cough, Cough!! Slingplayer Mobile for Android Beta Granted, it's pre-release, but there's light at the end of the tunnel! Guest lioryte Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 So I had some time to play around with DC22 trying to make a ROM but as I am starched for time I ended up not making one. :) But I did get some time so I made a new CF03 one for myself, I was thinkin' why not throw it out there for our lovely (now less than 10 members) community... So here's 24611, latest COM whatever. It looks like MS stopped working on WM 6.5 development for now...Included in the ROM: Office, TellMe, Themes, etc. No threaded email which is fine by me since there is an extra step in reading emails with threaded. Folks, this might as well be my last update since comes Aug I'll be going Android. I would like to thank y'all again for the support, this was one cool ride- I'll be updating post 1 with the new release
Guest lioryte Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 so are you saying that you havent had any problems with these roms running on DC22 or did you flash back to cf03 1st? thanks Lioryte for all your time and efforts over the past 2 years. Still not sure if I go Android in Aug or hang out for WM7, I just know it will only be a 1 year contract :) I Flashed to DC22 to get the radio all up to date (somethin' might happen in the next 2 month I'll still use the i910 :)), I ran the DC22 ROM I did and it looked like s*** (Works 100% but looks like s***- I realized I had to sit down and work on the OEM Apps and OEM Drivers and that is somethin' I ain't got time to do. Last 2 yrs were my pleasure, had some time with the phone. WM7 should be somethin' different. OS will be more like KIN less like WM 6.5, and quite closed like the iphone's. Android community gots some great ppl now- and on diff. devices too!

Back in the day it seemed like I was flashing every night, now once every 2 weeks if I'm lucky and I've been using MS 3.5 so it really doesnt make that much of a difference anyway. yeah I'm probably heading to Android too, but definitely on a 1 yr contract. I think it costs an extra $70 for the phone, but worth it to get a new one in a year when 4g is up and running. If MS 5 comes out before Aug, I may be tempted to hold off til WM 7.
Guest tedkord Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Srr. I like 'em all I took some time findin' and editin' 'em Uh oh! Sorry. If/when I flash to this latest you just posted, I'll leave it stock...
Guest tedkord Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 so are you saying that you havent had any problems with these roms running on DC22 or did you flash back to cf03 1st? No more problems than I've had with CF03 over CF03. Occasionally, the windows email client won't launch. Once in a while a lockup. Very rare. Soft reset fixes each.

Nope, my texting works. I tried from SPB MS3.5 contacts screen, and directly in windows contacts and both brought up the phone number in the TO: field. I have Titanium disabled, so I didn't try from there. I think Lioryte's 16MB pagefile helps with smoothness/speed. The DC22 ROM I tried had a 12MB PF and it was noticeably jerkier. Not awful, just noticeable. I also believe that many of the issues I have had are due to my lack of knowledge - installing programs that cause problems, forgetting to apply tweaks I've found in the past, etc...
