i8000 WinMo 6.5 available since this week in Germany

Hi all,

the first freaks own a Omnia II with WinMo 6.5 :D

The are talking in german about it at www.telefon-treff.de in the Samsung-Forum.

Official Release will be to the release of WinMo 6.5 next week. Hopefully the first ROMs will come earlier :)

Got my Samsung I8000 Omnia2 02.10.2009 with German WM6.5.

It's incredible :)

can you grab cubic37.mli from your ROM and upload somewhere?

In this case i can make WM6.5 ROM.

Same, if they do, is it on the Samsung website and will it update the phones firmware aswell?

how to dump the whole rom? i want to make a backup of the original state.

never done this. i only have experience with flashing (about 50 times with old omnia i900) but i saw that the flashing procedure for omnia 2 is different, also for omnia pro?

if you switch USB mode to storage mode with "My Storage" option, then after connecting to computer, you will be able to find hidden partition using some tools (for example you can see in standard windows disk manager). This is simple FAT(or FAT32 - i don't remember) partition, just hidden.

I think, you can try to use Acronis True Image to backup whole hidden partition.

Some disk analyzer tools like WinHex, can extract files from this partition. Main file is cubic37.mli. If you choose different language for phone in settings, internal flasher use this cubic37.mli file to create ROM with selected language and flash it.

So, if somebody can extract this file from his WM6.5 equipped Omnia 2, then i will make it flashable through OCTANS.

Common guys it's very easy to extract!

As sorg said you only need a full version of Winhex and 5 minutes!

That hidden partition is best viewed in Linux, e.g. from Ubuntu Live disk. :)

Cubic37.mli doesn't have any personal settings. This is simple almost full backup of original firmware nb0 file.

So, don't worry, nobody will get your personal settings if you will share this file.

If it's hard for somebody to extract this file then simple grab whole hidden partition by some backup utility like Acronis True Image. I can exctract cubic37.mli by myself.

This hidden partition is simple extrom. It contains cubic37.mli and some extra programs preloaded for current region. Usually it's several music/video clips and two language disctionary.

i don't worry about my personal data. first thing i will do when my device arrives is get the rom and make a backup.

is it the same procedure as for omnia pro?

i have no omnia pro, so not sure about this.

But i think, both phones share many things.

Are u getting O2 or Pro?

By the way, what's the version of the ROM in german Omnia2? and what version of WM 6.5?

So, im Done with the dump, i've got the CUBIC47.MLI.

Now, i'am Starting to Upload... maybe Rapidshare? Or FTP?

It's PDA: I8000NXXII

CSC: I8000DBTII9

PHONE: I8000XXII6

ANd it's Windows Mobile 5.2.21856(build 21856.5.0.65)

I'am not realy shure, iv the Other 6.5 Rom has this too.

But the German ROM has an own Samsung SMS MMS Email Programm.

I say this couse in so many other Topics, Peaple say there is no Threaded SMS...

But in that Samsung APP ther is Threadet SMS and not even like in Win Mo 6.5 on Omnia i900.

I think its not a skin, its a omn Programm...

Its more like on the iPhone whis speach bubbles but in a Samsung skinned design....

By the way it is really slow (i takes 2 min to load, mybe couse i've got about 2000SMS on my Omnia2...)
