Guest Encarnation Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Just got my own omnia 2 today. Of course, I had the omnia 1 and heck it was the phone of God. It has now been, obviously, replaced by the I8000. As of now, I did not have any major problems, except 1: The headphones. I tried the tips from tacchan23 here and wow, I can hear my phone from the basement! Unfortunately it did squat with the headphones. I tried 4 different sets, including the ones bundled, a Sony one, a Panasonic one, even a chinese one, and the volume is insanely low. It's driving me nuts. Is there something I overlooked? does someone knows how to boost that volume? Maybe it's because of the restrictions some European countries have? A tip to disable it? Thanks in advance. It's very very frustrating listening to some heavy metal when it sounds like ballads.
Guest bond_guy_2002 Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 There is a hardware volume "wheel" control along your headphone cable. You might have manually tuned the volume down. - http://www.ngchongyang.com Just got my own omnia 2 today. Of course, I had the omnia 1 and heck it was the phone of God. Guest Encarnation Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 Yeah. When I tried the adapter it came with, I got slightly better sound... I was using the headphones directly, without the adapter. So well, this is the solution, I guess. Thanks for the reply, bond.
Guest onderduiker Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 Same thing here. Til I found the wheel :)
Guest Encarnation Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 onderduiker, welcome to my club. hahahahaha
Guest bond_guy_2002 Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Oh, and one more thing. The Omnia II headphone jack seems incompatible with standard headphones. Hence, you cannot directly connect a normal headohone directly to the jack. You have to use the handsfree adaptor that is supplied - the pone with the volume wheel ... Hope this helps! Let's learn and share experiences so that we can fully enjoy our Omnia II :-) - http://www.ngchongyang.com

However, as the omnia socket allows mike input as well as two sound output (L&R) the included adaptor plug has three 'rings'. So, normal earphone can be used for sound output, but you need to talk into the phone's mike when have a phone conversation. That's all.

But it seems the phone does not push enough power to them, kinda making the volume subpar. oh well.
Guest pdaphonemaster Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) Indeed. But it seems the phone does not push enough power to them, kinda making the volume subpar. oh well. This is strange as I am satisfied with the sound output level. I am using the supplied Samsung earphone at volume level 3 or 4 and this is gives rich bass and loud volume for all the frequencies. If you are using touch player, perhaps the volume on the player is set at a low level. I think the default is 6 or 7/10. I have this at 10 and control volume with volume rocker. Hope this helps. Guest Encarnation Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 yeah, I played around with others mp3 players too, and I found out the omnia 2 is pretty standard. It's just me, I guess, i'm too used to the incredible decibels pushing the ipods gives me. That, or I'm deaf.
